this is a gr8 review gd job! :) i got the experience edition aswell! i like empire ants, on melancholy hill, to binge, some kind of nature and sweepstakes. a load of gr8 tracks on one album, by some bands standard this would be a greatest hits compilation. amazing album, thanks for the gr8 review :)

good review man, i agree on rhinestone eyes and empire ants being of the best songs in the album. but you have got to listen to some kind of nature with lou reed! its a great fucking song! also one of my favorites. oh, and plastic beach is my favorite gorillaz album.

the only thing that kind of turns me off to it is how he keeps saying "i hated it the first time i listened to it" then turns around and says how amazing the song is...it's really off-putting, but i do like melancholy hill, and stylo

It's a spectacular album, slickly produced, shiny, and groovy. I hope we don't have to wait as long as we did between now and Demon Days. I can't wait to see what happens next sound-wise. It does take a few listens to immserse yourself into, though.

I like the fact u listen the album at least 3 times and thought about the music, but i disagree with ur definition of electric sound, so far this album its the most experimental of their previews records just bring a lot of different music styles together, its just pure music inovation.

For me "welcome to the plastic beach" song its great work of musical metamorphosis, from some brass intro to a hip hip then to a electronic tune.

A Great review of an amazing album....i love how the sound of the record really reminds me of plastic....you know more laid back and relaxing....i dont know but the production really remind me of that....Anyway Demon Days is still my favorite but Plastic Beach is a really close second.....and you are right El Manana Cant be topped!!!!!

This album is beautiful. I actually Find demon days very fun but some tracks are replaceable. Y'know?

And plastic beach is amazing, listening to it all week. It honestly grows on you..... its probably better to me , than demon days ..............

Just want to say that was a great review. After listening to Plastic Beach for the first time it did make me think "what the hell is this im listening to?" then after playing it a few times I realised that if you give it a chance then it can be something you can enjoy. I played the album today while trying to settle my daughter and it really sets the mood and helped calm her. Thank you for posting this video. You pretty much described how I felt about the album x

demon days and gorillaz are 1 of my favs but d sides and plastic beach are next on my list ill rate plastic beach a 8.9 out of 10. demon days gets a 9.5 gorillaz gets a 8.7 and d sides gets a 8.4.

I totally agree with you man. I popped the cd in and drove around my town listening to the whole thing. the feeling I was getting for most of the songs was "wow, i feel like i'm walking around little shops on the beach and this music is playing lightly in the background" On Meloncholy Hill is by far my favorite and is currently the number one song for my playlists. Overall, VERY good review! Keep up the great work!

really good review man! on first listen of the new album i had the same worries many fans had about the new sound. now however, i am much happier with plastic beach but still sorta miss the days of demon days. still, the gorillaz are and always will be awesome!

The only thing I don't like about on melancholy hill is the autotune thing or whatever it is that comes in at random times...it just seems unnecessary

i definitely agree though that the three key ones you mentioned in the description are my favorites (especially empire ants)

I'm really stuck here. I'm a huge Gorillaz fan, and I feel like it's unfair that the two bonus tracks are only available through iTunes, because I want the hard copy. What would you recommend I do?

I know exactly what you mean. But I would reccomend the hard copy experience edition. The two edition songs on the itunes version are not meant to be stupidly brilliant, think one is an instrumental. Besides they'll be on a b-sides soon enough ;)

McEvoy is right, their both instrumentals. pirates progress is a longer version of the orchestral intro, and three hearts, seven seas, twelve moons is just the orchestral piece found in the beginning of the electric shock demo!
