  • Jt-Steve winwood-and is that natlie merchant on xylaphone?

  • Steve Winwood is a supremely talented artist. This song is an all-time cracker. 'Back in the high life'An Award winning Album, which includes a stunner "Higher Love"which fetched him a Grammy Award in1986.

  • At this point in my life, I feel this song fits me so well. I mean, I've been working four days a week for the past month and a half, and I just bought a car, after not having one for almost exactly two years. The funny thing is, when I heard I'd be going back to work again, I kept thinking of this great song. Thanks for posting it.

  • This song is motivation for anyone down

  • Yes

  • This song kicks ass...always in the High Life!!!

  • Indeed, a very memorable event for sure! It tingles my spine each time I see those 2 performing that lovely song...SO MUCH TALENT, not like much of the junk we see today.

  • Yes that is James Taylor and he is a tall guy. He also sang on the original release of this song. These are two of the greatest singer/songwriters of our time who vocally sound excellent together. I wish there were artists of this calibre in todays music industry but unfortunatley all we have today is industry.

JT and Winwood should do a tour together.

  • Two truly great talents!

  • For those of you that are curious where this came from, it is from the VH1 Honors Concert back in 1997.

  • Can someone tell me what show this was from, and if its available to buy/download anywhere?

  • @SimpleBundyNomics

This is from the 1997 VH1 Honors Concert

  • Is James Taylor that tall or Steve Winwood that short?

  • @matthewvedder

    JT is quite tall.

  • @matthewvedder It's probably a mixture of both...

  • Gotta love that mandolin and the squeeze box!

  • I remember watching this on TV like 20 or so years ago...crazy.

  • One of the most enchanting and sweetest song !!! Mindblowing!!!

  • wotsitooyou! I've had this in my favorites for a while and enjoy it sooo much! What show or special did you get this from? I'd love to find it and watch the whole thing.

  • Great video - thanks for posting !!!

  • Wow - what a treat! This is one of my favorite songs - with James Taylor too! Yay!!

  • thanks for this rare gem

  • What year was this concert? I had the Low Spark of High Heeled Boys which came out when I was 9. I loved that album and listened to it a lot all through high school. Then Steve Winwood disappeared and made a comeback with this and a few other songs. I never liked his later stuff as much as his earlier stuff although he is amazingly talented.

  • Maybe someone could clarify for me, but is that James Taylor singing with Stevie?

  • Yeah. If you check out the other songs from this show you'll see Stevie Wonder, Sheryl Crowe, Levon Helm and others. Amazing performances all around.

  • Thank you for your reply. I was sure it is James taylor, but it always good to get a second opinion to clarify. I have seen the other videos, and I was also at a concert where one of the videos was filmed with Eric Clapton. Thanks again!

  • James also sang on the original studio version.

  • Comment removed

  • James Taylor was actually on the original studio recording with Winwood.

  • @cowboyjohnny101 james taylor sang backing vox on the studio version

  • @cowboyjohnny10Possibly and probably....I saw some pigs sprout wings and fly past....mmm.....bacon sarnie

  • @cowboyjohnny101 Yup! James sang harmony on the recording as well. You can hear him well on it.

  • @cowboyjohnny101 Yeah. James Taylor sung back-up vocals on the original recording as well.

  • stevie winwood began as lead singer / organ for spencer davis.....aged 16 !!

  • wow them two-------------------JESUS CHRIST!

  • Wow!! WOW!!!!

  • Winwood - greatest ever.

  • the accordionist is hawt

  • Sheryl Crow - also sings duet with Emylou Harris on this show

  • thanks. she was too stage-confident to be just a session-person.

    bye

  • Two of the greatest musical artists of all time on the stage together. God, what I would pay to have been there.

  • bravo ... stevie is great ..thanks ...regards from SCotland

  • Would I ever love to know what show this came from. :) The song is one of my all-time favorites, and this is the finest live version I've seen yet. And is it just me, or does the accordion turn this into something really special?

    Thanks for posting. :)

  • Great vocal harmony .... Steve and JT
