  • I am in your debt. Though i still have a problem, I really cant manage to even play the piano with one hand. You know, I can't reach out to the other keys because my fingers can't, well, reach them. So I get the tendency to play a part with two hands which is only intended for one hand. :(( Help me Andrew.

  • 17? haha I am 25 and just bought a piano. Thanks for the Lesson. I am trying to learn the feather song from Forrest Gump. It starts off with using my left hand for 3 bars, then once the right hand kicks in and i play the first note, my brain just shuts down, and i stop. I have to either use one hand or the other, not both at the same time. I've only been playing for 2 weeks so i'll get there. Thanks

  • @Lypur you are good person lypur .. i guess ricordeon is trying to say in his past 17 years he couldnt learn anything...how can he learn in the coming years :)

  • I learned guitar when I was 20, then I learned Harmonica when I was 22 and at 30 I am learning Piano and I find it easier to learn now when i was younger

  • @ricordeon Man, I'm 20! By 25, I'll be so good, people will think I started at 12 ;)

  • @ricordeon Ya lypur is right. You are never to old to play piano. I am 22 and learning. It is just that children learn easier than older people.

  • @maryakt 18 and learning! GO OLD PEOPLE!

  • Cool! Great tutorial! Thank you so much!

  • Hey those exercises are very helpful. Thats exactly how i was coming off the rails after the first crescendo in Nobuo Uematsu's "To Zanakand". A big thank you! By the way, that's an awesome hair style you got going on. :D

  • Great stuff, appreciate all your efforts - this adult learner can use all the help he can get!

  • very great lesson! TnX ^___^

  • nice guy who smiles often is not a easy task to teach. this is my positive comment.

  • lol my problem is pretty much like trying to rub your belly and pat your head. Trying to do two completely different things simultaneously.

  • You are good, my friend. This was one of the b iggest problem I had and you have given me a simple solution. It is up to me to practive now. thanks.

  • From one dork to another, you come up with some great exercises and seem to know your stuff. I am looking forward to trying out the piano again thanks to you. The two hand issue is why I gave up on it when I was a kid. Lesson #27 is great!! Thanks!!

  • hi, thanks for the video. However, I have no trouble with the exercises. I have trouble playing both hands with each a "different timing", I hope you understand what I mean. For example in a 3/4 song: right hand a note every beat and left hand say 1 note that lasts 2 beats then 2 more notes each half a beat. Any tips?

  • I was actually covering what you were saying around 7:40 ^_^ at least that's what I think you're saying?

  • @Lypur eerm i m left handed and i cannot never play with right hand ... any ideas please?

  • If you dont know who Ray Charles is.....Where ya been lol,

  • well believe it or not, i know quite a few people who had no idea who he was.

  • how can i learn by ear?

  • for sure! It requires different training. One of the first things you can do is start to learn your intervals and the way they sound.

  • your e like crazy and funny and clever toghether, LOL. SO cool. thanks for the explanation!

  • you're welcome! :D

  • it's true you have to learn it again, with both hands. i like that explanation. also the melding of yr brain idea is very good. and it doesn't happen right awaqy, that's the problem isn't it? thanks for explanation ...

  • glad to help! ^_^

  • Hey.. You realy help me to play piano...

  • you're welcome!

  • if you dont know who ray charles is than be ashamed of yourself

  • Hey this really helped me :D

  • Hey thats a cool jacket, where can I find'em?

  • hmmm, i'm not exactly sure I got it as a christmas present!

  • I love the look, its very sophisticated and proper, thats cool

  • dude... this is hard... I suck a piano but im trying to play "Sadness and Sorrow" and it's like ..... expert level, damn man, I dont like hands togather notes.

  • if something is just killing you because it's to hard, it's better to leave it and try something alittle easier, you can always come back to it in a few months when you've gotten better. Also when you want to play hands together just remember go VERY VERY SLOWLY and STEADY...NEVER give up :)

  • I understand, but would you suggest learning by ear? or learn by notes?

  • by notes

  • where are you from in canada? like city wise

  • prince george in BC

  • o koo lol

  • haha you are so cute =P

  • ^_^ i don't know what to say to that other than, thanks :)

  • Another great lesson form the maestro

  • hey :) thanks alot!

  • Thanks you helped alot.

  • Hey (Professor) Andrew, what does it mean when there is a "( )" around a note? Or a long line going from a note on the bass clef to a note on the treble clef? Thanks for your tutorials. Do you talk about this in any of them? Maybe I missed that tutorial. You should create an index of your tutorials so we know which one to refer to if we have questions about a specific topic. :) thanks.

  • hey ^_^ if you see a ( ) around a note, usually that indicates that it's optional, say if it's to much of a stretch to play it, other times it could mean that this note is something they're not sure actually existed in the version and have not been able to conferm either way.

  • Can you suggest some classical pieces for beginners and how you would approach learning/playing them. Thanks for another great lesson.

  • do you havea yamaha grand C1?

  • That was lovely :)

  • Great tips, thanks! Glad to hear that you are planning more lessons next month and that your braces are partially coming off. Yay! I am going to try playing a memorized piece with my eyes closed now! Could be a work in progress..lol. Keep up the good works-thanks!

  • sounds great! playing eyes closed is a really good challenge to push yourself to accomplish!

  • I actually slapped my hands when you said to. lol, awesome vid =)

  • lol that's hilarious that you slapped your face to;)

  • Around 06:43, I've always kind of worried about playing one hand with eighth notes and the other with sixteen notes. I mean it sounds wonderful when you can perform it, though. So practicing it worth it. I can play two hands together, note on note. But seperating some of them is a tad hard like throwing grace notes and/or trills. The overall video is wonderfully explained. A lot of it is something I can relate to everytime coming across a new song. Thanks!

  • Hello. I came across your lesson videos about a week ago and just finished watching all of them. Just wanted to say thank you and excellent job! they were realy helpfull!

    Keep em comin! ;-)!

  • thanks!

  • 2.03 LOL

  • heh so you found the drumming of my face funny hey?

  • yeah :p XD

  • For me, the problem is reading all the notes at once... It helps when the notes are arranged in common patterns (like basic chords) so I just read one note and extrapolate the rest. It isn't always that easy though.

  • I know how to play with 2 hands! =D xD =P
