  • i am so happy guiding light is dead

  • I love this! Josh and Reva are like Luke and Laura. They will always find their way back to eachother even if they marry other people (ie Luke/Tracy, Josh/Cassie, Laura/Scotty, Reva/Jeffery). I do wish that Jonathan had found someone to love before the end. But I guess Sarah was enough for now.

  • i still hate this song but love and miss the show.

  • GUIIDING LIGHT’s “The End” is the saddest moment in televisions history. Thank you for years of happy times, heartbreak, love and weddings. Who to who, what and when what happened, I had to catch up on YouTube. When Jeffrey was lost, I quit watching then the final episode shows Reva and Josh take off together. What happens now? Please come to your senses CBS. Put GUIDING LIGHT BACK on the air. Today is 4th July. Can the Bauer’s send me some BBQ?

  • I've never heard from it before now, and it shocks me that it ran for so long. Ending something like that is, indeed, kinda harsh.

But, what were they thinking, shooting outside with cheap camera's, looks like they wanted to kill the show. It all looks like something a first year filmstudent would make.

  • Ellen Wheeler did an outstanding job with this finale. I did not watch this program - but am fascintated with the last episodes of sopas, once mine (AW) went off the air in 1999. I loved the AW finale, with the exception of that gorilla, but had always wished for a nod to the old logos... Ms. Wheeler did indeed pay homage to the legacy that was in her hands - and did so beautifully.

    Bravo....

  • Guiding Light went downhill when the show cut most of it's core characters/couples. Danny /Michelle and Gus and Harley were some of the show's best supercouples that were well-written and had terrific actors. They they went from formal sets to this "shaky camera" open air shooting which was NOT going to attract new viewers.

But long-time viewers were loyal to the core. We watched out of love and for us the light will never fade.

  • well im sorry but the only reason that this show got cancelled was because it was on way too early. the economy was crappy and ppl had to work. they didnt have time to be watching soaps at 10 AM. of it had been on at a later time it wouldve lasted a lot longer.

  • I GOTTA SAYYYYYYYYYYYY GUIDING LIGHT'S FINALE WAS SOOOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER THEN AS THE WORLD TURNS N I LOVE AS THE WORLD TURNS BUT THEY DIDN'T BRING ANY OLDIES BACK LIKE GUIDING LIGHT DID, WHAT JUST FRANNIE AND JOHN.

  • @thenewctc I actually missed it when it ended. I didn't know it was the last days til it was over. I saw cips on You Tube. Sorry I missed. I missed the ending of GL too. I tried to tape it and ended up taping the wrong show.I was happy to see Frannie. It was wonderful of Julianne Moore to appear. That show was a gateway to show stars over the years.

  • Reva & Josh were a great, fantastic duo, but "Guiding Light" starts to end when Kim Zimmer came back in 1995 and the show focalized only on this couple, so GL became "Reva & Josh Show".

  • @fullimmerzion I completely agree with you on that ! All those characters such as roger, holly, alan-michael and ross etc, were placed on the backburner when the character of reva was brought back. when Michael zaslow left/fired in 97 I had a hard time watching the show and stopped watching altogether.

  • @Rogerthoroegirl I loved Zaslow's Roger... miss him, miss these days of GL!

  • does anyone know how to edit out the music and keep the voices? I wish I did.

  • why did it have to go off? I am so disappointed as I know many many others are.

  • i realy can't believe you took the two best shows off air.and wish you would put guiding light and as the world turns back on. hope you don't take y&r or bold and beautiful off .take off some of the talk shows and game shows off and put them back on. thank you

  • Well they did have a Perfect ending, I will say that. but I still miss the show:(

  • I MISS THIS SHOW.....SOOOOO!!

  • and the 2:00 to 3:00 Pacific Time hour has been a very dark time since GUIDING LIGHT went off the air. GL is sorely missed!

  • I can't believe it's been a year since it ended ! I so miss this show . Have you seen the smut that stays on the air these days ? I hope they do a reunion show in the future .

  • did u guys know dat this show aired on radio in 1937!!!!!! and then on television in 1952!!!! wow with over 15,000 episodes i cant believe it

  • "BUD & REVE SHAYNE"!!!.....ALWAYS!!....IM SO GOONA MISS THE CAST OF MY FAVORITE DAYTIME SHOW!!....LUV U GUYS!!

  • I'm So Very Sad! When That Soap Opera Show Guiding Light Ended! Back In The Fall Of 2009!

  • love reva and josh always!!!!

  • @MrsChristopherAsher

In the penultimate episode, Holly and Ed left together for an around-the-world trip. As for Jeffrey, they left it ambiguous as to what happened to him. The last we saw him he was chasing Edmund.

  • After September 2010, I will be turning off CBS forever!!! CBS took my GL and now they are taking my ATWT. I have never watched the stupid game shows AND I NEVER WILL. My 16 year olds even loved these shows and now they will never have the chance to watch them again. GL got me thru a lot of hard times..even breast cancer!!!

  • You know what would have been nice. If Frank Dicopoulos (Frank Cooper) said to the Fans. We at Guiding Light thank you for 72 Years of Loyalty and 57 Years of Viewership. We don't believe in saying farewell, but so long until we meet again, so once again thank you!

  • i loved guiding light they were the best!! CBS takes Gl off but leaves the young and the restless on.What a dirty shame..JOSH AND REVA 4EVER

  • I am sooo happy that Reva and Josh ended up together during the final episode of Guiding Light.

  • Where are Holly, Ed Bauer and Jeffrey O'Neil?

  • CBS is the least-watched network in my family.

  • Can someone pls tell me Where is Harley?????

  • am i the only one wondering wat happened to jeffery lol

  • Considering th show was on for 72 YEARS, I thought CBS could have thrown a little bit of money GL's way the last few weeks it was on the air, to raise the production value. Everyone knows soaps aren't known for being slicked, polished productions, but I thought the last few weeks of GL were particularly bad. Shame on you CBS!!!

  • @gallen39

Yeah I agree, this was not a good final ending to a show that's been a milestone in television such as Guidling Light, It was pretty lame if you asked me. It would have been much better if CBS would have done something like a primetime special and brought back some of the show's past, veteran characters (actors), and gave their perspective on how they like, enjoyed working on the show or something like their favorite storyline when they were on the show.

  • I am sooo happy that Reva and Josh ended up together during the final episode of Guiding Light.

  • It's sad to see the show end which after 72 years it had a lot of memories that had joy & sorrow. As The World Turns is next on the chomping block and that too is going to be a sad day when it airs it's last show.

  • josh and reva yay! god i used to love them nice 2 see them end up together

  • I love this its soooo amazing no show is better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

  • Guiding Light ran for 72 years. It began on radio and ran for 57 before ending in September. I never watched it because I'm a guy, but you've really got to respect a show that's lasted that long.

    It was a nice ending.

  • i liked as the world turns better, and im glad though that they stil braocast atwt oakdale rules

  • too bad they just cancelled that TOO!!! wtf is going on??? stop cancelling our soaps!!!

  • i cant believe it's over and where is harley

  • @2cherylcxko313 In Pine Valley LOL.

  • yeah that's why i dont watch that lol

  • BITTERSWEET! I MISS IT EVERYDAY..

  • wow it's actually over !!!!

  • "And there she was, wearing a hat." LOL.

  • Kim Zimmer big, thanks for giving me 25 years of unforgettable emotion

  • I wonder if that was a 1937 Ford truck at the end. That would've been very fitting, considering that was the year that GL began...

  • i cant beleive i just met james and frank earier today! they love pittsburgh :)

  • Yay im from Pittsburgh to

  • everyone gets a kiss but freaking Otalia

  • I actually really like the Only Love version. :)

  • That was really bad! They had such a mundane ending! And what's with the production values?

  • fuck jeffrey

  • good point lol

  • Where is JEFFERY!!??? That's great that Josh and Reva got back but they needed to finish the Jeff and Edmund story lines.

  • and for reva & josh reva: always means always that's for sure

  • I am so going to miss guiding light ~sniff's~ i love this show i just can't believe that's ending

  • All good things come to an end... so, goodbye "Guiding Light", and thanks for the wonderful years 1993 and 1994, when all was just MAGIC!

  • haha aw mallet and dinah

  • This is hands down the most banal, trite, inane finale episode I EVER had the torturous misfortune to watch. What? We get to see Mel and Cyrus fucking, and Otalia don't even get a kiss?!!!! Ellen Wheeler can go fuck herself, with her 'good honest American hick' mentality.

  • you can dispute the copyright claim. just look up audio dispute on youtube and there's a few vids that'll tell you how to.

  • It was absolutely perfect they way they ended the series and I like how you changed the song to Only Love

  • always forever reva and josh

  • This sucks that they would cancel such a great show GL forever. Wish the real ending song could play but nonetheless thanks for posting up.

  • Your " Only Love" version is way better. Cried my eyes out. Thanks!

  • That's why it says "Only Love" version people!!

  • As much as I like the fact Let's Make a Deal is replacing this, this is just... tearjerking!

  • I thought the last show was great and i cryed........ gosh it seems serioiusly like over half my life is gone! :(

  • I would have loved to see some flashbacks and such....and where was Holly? They bring back Fletcher, but no Meg and no Holly. I was happy to see Reva and Josh end up together at the end, but come on...we as fans deserved a much better ending. And if we feel that way, what must the cast feel?

  • holly wnet away with ed on some sort of medical research retreat or something.

  • I am wondering where in the world Billy's wife Vanessa was on Thursday and Friday. The last time we saw Vanessa was after their wedding with Buzz and Lillian outside of the country when the two sets of newlyweds were going off on their honeymoons.

  • what happened to jeffrey

  • This was a very LAME ending. Very bad music. Even Another World with the final shot of Mac was perfect. There should have been a shot ot or mention about Bert or Rev. Rutledge's famous poem. After 72 years GL deserved better.

  • The song used in this video was not the song used in the final show.

  • The appalling show is an insult to the glory days. Remember Roger & Holly's philosophical scenes? Even Kierkegaard was thrown in! This show became a travesty! Better it be cancelled, than dumbed down to such a degree.

  • I can't believe this show is over! I never thought it would end in my lifetime. RIP Guiding Light! I will miss this show being a big part of our American culture and my life growing up!

  • This is absolutely GOD-AWFUL. What would Michael Zaslow say, looking down at this horrible inoffensive utopia of bland families playing around in the park? Where the hell are the flashbacks?!!

  • So much kids, family, love and sweetness - I`m sorry but it makes me sick. And "Francesca" - I think at this level I`m glad the farce about Otalia is finished.

  • that's weird where i watched the show in stamford, ct a song called 'we belong together was playing in teh backgrond not the theme song

  • Even though the show has finished - CC is still out there going strong. Days starts on 2nd October and Venice after Thanksgiving. She's also in the Twitter Ms World comp, although she has slid back to second. Vote for her @ tweeterwall(dot)mallplace(dot)com/tw/worldwide/ultimate-world-ms-twitter and check out her tweets @ Facebook and on CCNFriends

  • I can't stand this montage. I'm creating one in my head with Roger & Holly, India von Halkein and Alexandra, Maureen & Ed, Annie Dutton, Vanessa & Dinah and Nola & Quint!

  • Sadly, the day that we've all been dreading September 18,2009 has arrived. "Guiding Light" airs its last episode today. I'm sad that it ended today

  • I'm upset they don't show wat happened to Jeffrey

  • jeffrey? now left in limbo, chasing edmund forever?

  • I think we all agree its not about a kiss at all, its about the world seeing the lesbian couple as a couple and not as the lesbian couple. For CBS to treat those two with white gloves is a slap in the face. Yes they did stay together, but then again they had a baby, not as a couple, but with Frank and Natalia. You can't say all couples were equal on that show. Physical love is just that physical love. Yes I loved the love story, but that one kiss would have made all the difference.

  • I said this couple was just the basis to talk about different families (like my kind of family by the way - the mother, the daughter - the other mother, me - the father). And again I don't place equality in kissing/making love or whatever (it's teh easiest thing to do on TV) but in the place this family is given. And it is seen as lesbian (remember Father Ray and Rafe's reactions)

  • I agree! This past week, we saw Daisy and James post sex. All week we have seen nearly EVERY character play kissy face at some point! WTF? Otalia should have had a kiss, just as ANY other couple. By withholding the kiss, it sends all kinds of negative messages. It is ok to love someone of the same sex as long as they don't "act on it" or "put it in people's faces." Screw that! If cousins can make love, (Jammy), then Otalia could have had a few kisses, at the VERY least!

  • iamcasihart, right on right on. Very well said.

  • Thanks, BrandamantKnight, I think too many people here are satisfied with too little. We started out with a robust, really powerful and passionate love story that captured the hearts of thousands across the globe. Accepting that "they are happy" is NOT enough. NO one is equal until ALL are equal. We had a shot at it with GL -- and they blew it, plain and simple. Even AMC's lesbian couple was shown kissing and hugging and even making love. No kiss is no equality.

  • too many? are you kidding? almost everyone has abandoned shift !

who are you to say we get satisfied with too little?

you have your expectations, we have ours. Things we think are important, others we think are not. you think showing them kissing is a sign of equality, I don't. that's not where I put equality. most of the lesbian couples that multiplicated those past years were shown kissing, but were treated as temporary "excitement"

you have your opinions, but please no lesson of activism

  • I like it better with this song...

  • i was going to post this clip too but the audio is copyrighted i like your song you used better

  • that song works better than what they used thanks

    the end of GL

  • I am soo happy that JEVA got their happy ending.

  • As a faithful Otalia fan, I am appalled at the complete lack of respect this relationship was given. GL strung Otalia fans along, only to rip us off with scenes of virtually every other couple kissing and stupid Cyrus hooking up but not the long-awaited physical consumation (even the tiniest bit) of true love between two women. I am offended. The Otalia story could not be complete with just the two women, they had to have Frank in the middle of all of it. Shame on GL.

  • Whoa, Margo, you got a thumbsdown for speaking the truth. I guess I'll be earning my own share own thumbs down today too. Otalia started wonderfully and devolved into a morass of double standards, blatant homophobia and misogyny. (The writing for 90 percent of the show the last 5 weeks was ATROCIOUS as well.) GL used to be the grand dame. Sadly, under the mismanagement of EW and other EPs before her, my Grand Dame ended up a toothless, drooling old gal.

  • sorry, I'm not here to start a debate again (really?), but I don't see homophobia in here. I guess it depends of degrees but to me killing a gay character (especially after her wedding) is homophobia. Not only did Otalia end up together, but Doris even had a girlfriend. And the recomposed family doesn't seem to bother anyone.

  • as for misoginy, I don't know. QAF and ER gave us the lesbian couple only preoccupied by having a baby . that I found quite reducing because of course, every woman wants to be a mother. Frank & our girls are here to show another kind of family, a new kind, to which the show gives as much importance, place and legimacy.

I happen to think that Otalia never went backward, but was in fact quite ahead.

no truth here, just opinions on both sides

  • If the use of the word homophobia is arguable for you, would you at least agree that there was a decided lack of parity? And that this lack of parity was based on sexual orientation? Whoops, I think I just arrived back at homophobia. For me, everything from the blocking to the text screamed 1950s values. Men play ball, women sit on the bleacher. It's all about baby making etc etc ETC. Personally, I'd take the PepSi storyline, cliches & death included, over what EW and JLH served up in the end.

  • My thanks to the cast and crew--past, present, dead and alive--of "Guiding Light" for 72 years of shining the light as the longest-running radio and television soap opera in the United States of America.

  • I was weeping when I saw Reva get her happy ending with Josh, and they drove past the light house in the final shot. Bravo, Guiding light!

  • Love that Mallet and Dinah hooked up again. to bad Jeffery didn't get to come home

  • oh please stop it with the otalia kiss...

Liv and Nat finally together (ans still together after a year, think about it), a same-sex couple accepted by the whole community, their new recomposed family accepted the same way, Doris happy, THAT is much more important than a kiss, damn it !

    Nice and beautiful ending....

  • oui enfin main dans la main ça fait un peu ado comme comportement !!

  • ado?

zut alors, faudra que je dise ça à ma femme la prochaine fois qu'elle prendra la mienne...

  • It's not about a kiss, it's about the fact that they neutered Otalia. (And Olivia especially.) They might as well have signs hung around their necks that they are living in a Boston Marriage. It's about the transparent misogyny threaded through every storyline. The GL I grew up with in the 80s had strong independent women. Now they are nothing more than baby-making appendages for good men. It's freaking bizarre and shameful.

  • Thanks for all the uploads you've been great!

As a Jeva fan this made my day ... As an Otalia fan ... well yeah never mind you can't have it all.

  • As a longtime Josh and Reva fan, I am glad they honored their history and commitment to "Always." I watched this final episode just to see them reunite. I wasn't disappointed. Thanks GL

  • wasted story line keeping jeffrey alive but not bringin him back!

and WHAT THE F...no otalia kiss???

  • man no Jeffery. URGGG Thank you for posting this. It is nice to see everyone happy and yes danny and Michelle are there

  • .... :'( i wish it didn't have to end just after i found it so soon the no otalia kiss pissed me off!!!!

  • Jeffrey should be there wirh Colin!!! No we dont get to know whathappend to Jeffrey...

  • Thank you for posting. My son played Colin in the final scenes in Part 6 and Part 7 with Reva and Josh. YEAH, I can now send to family!!!

  • well it was lovely the song is appropiate for the the final segment!! thank you again

  • what was the actual song that played during the segment

  • Together by Michelle Branch

  • thanks

  • glsoap fan

I miss Guiding Light so much. Shame on you CBS for canceling this awesome soap! And now As The World Turns too? You have become the most stupid network on television. The only two soaps worth watching was GL and ATWT. After September 2010, I will be turning off CBS forever!!!
