Mice are social animals and tend to gather together. I'm guessing the first one in was just heading toward its reflections, which it thought were other mice. Then the other mice coming in would go join the group. It's just what mice do.

What I find truly interesting about this video is the way each animal reacts to its reflection. The chickens were very calm but focused, the duck was confrontational but eventually found the female more important, the small green birds flew for a while before just sitting in the middle and staring at themselves, and the mice just said "hay another mouse you don't smell like a mouse oh well" and went to the center. I'd imagine none of the animals were too impacted by the psychological stress

I think the work was an interesting idea but badly executed. The mice and ducks (flightless birds) were fine, however, the birds that could fly should not have been used. By flying into the mirrors these birds could have caused themselves injuries. And cruelty to animals in the name of art is never acceptable!
