  • need video for 1998 blazer

  • this guy is a joke

  • @SixHundredHP its a japanese make car made by americans so its both

  • @jumpMATTjump Um...it's still a Japanese vehicle. I can find NO WHERE that says it was designed in the US. It may be made here, but it's built by non union workers and the money still gets sent back to japan

  • Hey nate gino thanks you!!!!

  • it looks like a ford 4.6 liter unsure what kind of car

  • Ok so YouTube people help me out I've got a 2001 pantiac grand am and I'm hoping it's the thermostat but ok so the hose from radiator to engine right were the rubbing hose gets connected to the metal tube leading back to the engine get swollen when the car heats up is this the tube? Or thermostat?or what?

  • @anthony18w looks like the thermostat is stack not opening so pressure acumulates, but really hard to say without seeing.

  • 0:48 is he pointing his penis at the thermostat!?

  • I saw the thermostat gasket but you forgot to mention it.

  • Oh and they said this was a common problem 4 the lincoln ls 03 models so it was best 4 me to sell it :(

  • I took my lincoln ls 03to the shop because it was over heating was over and they said it needed a new gasket 4 the thermstat. It cost 289.64 WTF! And the they said it needed a new serpentine belt, antifreeze, and oil change so now to get it out the shop i gotta pay them 605.84 :(((((

  • @CALI2TEXBOY They took you for a ride. Those gaskets are about $1.50 to $4.00 at Autozone. Also, easy to replace yourself. All that other stuff I would have said "no thanks". The shop can't hold your car hostage for money and unneccessary service. You should file a complaint.

  • @NYdrone Wish u would of told me this b 4 i got the car out. :( But when i whent to go get the car out i asked if they had made a mistake on price & they said "yeah we had a miss calculation its only $480. sorry bout that." So i just paid it but i still tought it was too much 4 what they did. It kinda makes me go by the shop at night and brake their windowns on shop lol

  • @CALI2TEXBOY Well, I'm glad they lowered the price at least. Don't be too hard on yourself. Keep watching videos like this one. You can save a lot of money by doing your own repairs. The only thing I leave to the professionals is brakes and transmission. Labor is expensive at 30 to 50 dollars an hour. Good luck in the future w/your car. PS: don't break any windows! lol ;)

  • Is this guy always high?!

  • I CANT FIND IT IN MY BENZ!!

  • i think this would be a lot more helpful if i knew even the slightest thing about cars. do you have an even more dumbed-down version for us car illiterates? i'd just take it to the shop but i simply can't afford it.

  • '

why need it a thermostat in a car / truck,,,

    no need it thermostat,,,

    what for,,,

car / truck can go running without a thermostat

  • you forgot to put on the new gasket

  • Uh, how about some gasket sealer or a gasket?

  • plenum, not plentum

  • This video is described as removing the housing, but he's actually installing it back in. Not helpful!

  • this dude will mess your car up lol.

  • ur hot lol u could change my thermostat any time

  • ur hot lol

  • Got charged about $80-$90 back in 2004-2005 to change a thermostat on an integra. After seeing this video, and one other one before this from another uploader, I see that I got ripped off. I guess thats business...probably charge for the minimum 1 hour rate plus parts.

  • @fawkthescene666 he didn't do this correctly. to reinstal it you are going to NEED to have a new thermostat gasket, and ultra blue multipurpose rtv silicone. but you did get ripped off -.- I would have done it for $20

  • @goodkill1 Whats funny about that car is that everyone ripped me off..it was like a bad luck car lol. Mechanics said the dealer "bandaged" the car to oulast 30-day policy. Ended up putting like 4k into it for a new engine plus much more. Worst has yet to come...3 months after I got the car running top notch it got flooded and totally fukd the whole thing up. I owed like $500 more to the bank, instead i left it in the parking lot and let them repo it..then they sent me $1100. total loss of 7000..

  • @fawkthescene666 when you need something fix in your car find out what is wrong with it. go to the parts store an buy them your self.. a shop will say this is the cheapest i could find bullsh*t one shop down here tryed to rip me off they trying to make money off me before they even touched my car... so anyways find what is wrong with your car next.. get your own parts.. then go on your local craigslist post a ad what you need done etc an want it done cheap i never pay for shop rates or parts

  • 0:00, Stand Attention Private !!!

  • Bad example i cant see what the guy is doing, should have chosen an engine where thermostat housing was easily visible to the viewer. And where is the Gasket ? this is most definately not the way a Pro would install a new thermostat. You need a Gasket man.

  • how r u gonna do a thermostat vid and not even mention the gasket???

  • I will give you another example of the lines being blurred... In the early 90s Mazda B2800 and Ford Ranger were the same truck. I don't mean similar parts, I don't mean sort of the same, I mean the SAME truck with some different badging, and a different grill, and different names on them. Is it an American truck, or a Japanese truck?

The bottom line is, this video is informative and shows the general way to replace a thermostat, and who gives a damn about what kind of car it is?

  • What a tool..... Get it?! This is the worst vid ever. I'd rather get Rick rolled than watch this guy work on any car ever.

  • thats yellow !!!lolsexy makes me wanna do that to my car now lol!!!

  • This is a moronic choice of vehicles to demonstrate this on. You couldve found an early 90's gm where the thermostat is right up front.. Looking at the back of this mans head isn't reason to make a video. ExperVillage staff are a bunch of novice failures.

  • wrong title.....

  • yea, how about the gasket?thats why i came in here and got on this dam youtube

  • how do mechanics make stuff look so easy?

  • @loupremo Because it is that easy. Took me 20 min to change the thermostat on my 2001 crown victoria police interceptor. Easily wouldve been a 250.00 job at a bull shit mechanic. Learn the trade, youll do yourself and your wallet a favor.

  • You can have GTA4 now!

    downloadblinks . C [] M

  • 0:00 to skip advertising

  • haha forgot the gasket didn't you mate :P

  • I had to have my thermostat professionally because Isuzu thought it would be cute to put it in a difficult place to get to. I had to pay almost $300 just for a thermostat that costs only $20!!! The other $250 was just labor alone. I hate Isuzu now.

  • Expert Village sucks. I prefer Scotty Kilmer, Turbo Channel or Autorepair101. Way better instruction.

  • God damnit none of these. Really help me. I have an 1986 gmc high Sierra

  • Thanks Cheers!!!

  • u forgot the gasget!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ninachica27 that was the whole point of me watching this. To make sure I put the gasket on correctly.

  • @SixHundredHP japanese roots but american made. So Technically japanese.

  • the ford focus is made in shitty mexico... haha

  • decent vid.......BUT...what about the gasket?

  • @iNtAlps you have no idea what ure talking about IDIOT.

  • What about the gasget, did you put a gasget on?

  • japanese, its a japanese company

  • thats like saying a person with Japanese heritage who is born in America isn't American

  • and that was true during the second world war....remember all the internment camps for japs?

  • 1942 japanese americans....look it up...learn something...you might become smarter one day.

  • @smashmonkeyEXTREME they aint

  • its still japanese, just like my comparison to asian food, it can all be cooked in america and the meat n rice come from america but that doesnt mean its american food, does it? it may be changed to fit american's likings but its still asian, as long as the titan is owned by nissan its japanese, now im not hating on japanese cars, i just wanna clarify that

  • doesnt matter its still japanese, thats just like saying rice is shipped over from asia but its cooked in america, its still asian

  • how about showing us on a Japanese car instead of a ford

  • i kno wtf

  • how about not since this is america? and i dont care how mayn people drive imports.

  • nobody ever buy a buick century these cars have the worst thermostat problems you have to replace it about every year along with alot of mid 90's caddilacs

  • That can't be true! American made quality is on par with Toyota and Honda.

  • lol

  • got a 92 century that i just replaced and my friends cad sts blew a hose and thermastat yesterday that i just replaced for him...

  • You've just heard 3 minutes of "mechanic gab".. Mechanic gab is typically used when trying to overprice customers on service that doesn't require much work.. useless video. =P

  • it would have been good to see the removal process, and putting the gasket on, you know coolant works best whilst not spraying out of the engine.

  • So, he's saying that to change your thermostat, you take the old one out and put a new one in... Interesting.

  • Funny... I was thinking the same thing. "hummm... take it out, put it in." I never would have guessed. LOL :)

  • what about gasket and what about the direction of the stat? You may want to mention that...also, depending on the vehicle, they may have to have a factory brand and not after market.

  • i would laugh so hard if someone did put it on the wrong way, spring side INTO the engine.

  • err...isnt there a special orientation for the thermostat to be in...like the direction of flow??? Might want to specify that no?

  • hopeless... I learn nothing... ;/

  • Good Video!

  • I've never removed any bult-ons before, do you need a new gasket to replace the housing?

  • indeed you do, they usually come with the thermostat but if not they only cost a couple of dollars.
