I've pass Reason only because of its sequencer since version 4. Surprisingly the sequencer is worse in version 5 with blocks. Too bloated and insufficient.
Still can't figure out why they destroyed their simple but lighting fast sequencer!
To Propellerhead, I have used your products since Reason 1.0. The reason I use Reason is because it is SOOOO fast and incredibly EASY to muster up an idea. Reason 4 is a nice improvement to Reason 3, but the sequencer is far far too difficult and clunky to use. Please consider a revert button for 'basic' sequencing functionality like before. The changes made are too radical against user experience which Reason is so popular for in the first place.

the sequencer is slow i like flsudios sequencer better its alot quicker to use. both programs are really good to use as long as you experiment with them
i think you guys are making a bigger deal of the sequencer. its not that different from the old sequencer u guys need to chill man lol im a serious reason nut maybe you guys are more used to other software and you need to be more precise on whats wrong it so they know whats wrong with it so they can amend it. i think some more effects would be good stand alone not combinator fx and perhaps being able to run 2 reasons at the same time on one pc?
ive been using reason since the begining and yes the sequency sucked at times. its a little better though i never quite realised you could do all that with the razor tool and flick through the tools on the keyboard so im ganna give that a try. they need to make the mixer tracks more easy to use ie remix solo's and mutes ive made a tune that uses alot of soloing and now im totally confused though im ganna use that mute function on the sequencer. reason is still the best software out there peace
you made the clips into Nazi's. i've been using this program since ver. 2.0 and now I think I may leave it for Ableton. You've made it extremely difficult and tedious to write something without a controller and then just copy and paste within the track your editing. WTF
I first tought myself on reason 3.0, and only recently (approx 2 months ago) got a copy of Reason 4.0. At first look i thought what the hell have they done.... but with a bit of patience and a small time playing i got the hang of it...and now, i can honestly say i think its an improvement rather than a mistake. This Sequencer is alot more tidy in my opinion.
Having never used previous iterations, I'm not having too much trouble using the new sequencer... I actually really like it. Maybe that's because I've just moved over from ableton though.
And I'm glad i found out here that 98% of the comments are negative about the sequencer, cause I had the feeling I was being inconpetent... (well, and now that I saw the video I understood also that what I was trying to do was impossible actually)
I actually just installed reason 4 and been playing around for a couple of hours, but it seems to me they tried to make something that would be more "simple" once you learn and get used to the interface/controls, like cubase. But the first time I played with Reason 2.0, I instantly liked it. Now with reason 4.0, I just shut it off with a slight feeling of frustration.
On basically, or mostly, every other sequencer ins the past you had the piano roll, and basic cut copy paste functions. Now with this clips with hidden notes, and not being able to edit greyed out portions of the clip or whatever, you have to read the manual or something to fully comprehend (or waste many hours with trail and error)
I'm new to Reason 4. I don't understand what is so awful about the new sequencer. I find it very intuitive. The old one was hard to figure out and was the main reason I chose to start with FL Studio.
no, you cant'say it is "very intuitive". specially when so many users of the older versions are complaining that it is less intuitive. maybe your intuition is abnormal, since you couldn't figure out the older sequencer, which was obviously more intuitive to every user.
Seriously only thing that Reason 3 sequencer was missing was the ability to assign a track's output to a midi output so you could drive a VST instrument loaded on the rewire host, from within reason. And you can't do that at 4 anyway. I wanna cry.
The new sequencer is CRAP. You can't re-assign a track's output to a different device. Total fail. You could do this on Reason 3 so easily. Plus the part auto coloring IS GONE. Completely. GONE! I can't believe it. You have to manually color each piece it won't work like in Reason 3. The new stuff in Reason 4 sequencer are not worth it. Everything you can do in Reason 4 sequencer you could do in Reason 3 sequencer, plus much more. Ah and faster. Yes i used to work WAY faster in Reason 3.
Too much stuff in sequencer. It´s improved but not very fast to use. I like to post produce in Ableton Live not in Reason. They thought it would be cool like in Live but it´s pretty slow and clumsy to use after all.
dam i tryd reason pro tools cubase evryting and 2 b honest my favorite daw is fl studios it sounds stupid but its my favorite cuz its da ezest simplest program out their and it sounds great idk i ppl ha8 lol
The sequencer in version 4 is ergonomically problematic! When youre entering the edit mode you can edit only the selected clip and not the whole track! Whats the point of it?
just when I was starting to love reason they came up with this garbage. The thing that most frustrates me about the sequencer is when you click a track to draw notes you have to select an area first, while the rest of the area turns grey. What the hell is the point of this... Reason 3 was sooooooo much easier to use. Goddamnit.. now I gotta look for a better software
I'm working generally on a 17inch laptop. Unfortunately the new sequencer is slowing dramatically my workflow due to its new awful graphics!
Now I guess if youre working on a desktop with a big or dual monitor probably you dont facing this problem, but even with large monitors I still think the new sequencer is very badly designed!
We in Perfect Reflection also hate the 4.0 seq. For us the biggest problem is the auto group thing every time you record a track. And you need to double click to edit the track. tempo track and time signature is good. But that should have been there from 1.0. So we dont like the new seq. Listen to our songs=)
I got an idea! if you don't like the sequencer why don't you just rewire to your favorite DAW and use it's sequencer... it's pretty easy to do if you know how to use MIDI. Have you ever seen a software company drop a huge change for a few crybabies? I haven't. please stop crying.
i just hate the reason 4 sequencer period! . and all this MIDI graphics stuff is just plain BS. As somebody with database prpgraming exp. i still find this sucker hard to use. I'm dumping this sucker for Live 7 and pro tools ,if i need to use the Thor i will rewire it to pro tools
If ur on a bus with ur laptop it can get frustrating. They put more focus on MIDI automation (which is cool in one way) but it seems more difficult to create simple concept tracks with the mouse. I'm only new to this so I don't fully understand it yet but lets hope it gets better.
No shit, vector automation isnt knew in general, but new in reason.Iv used vector in protools for yrs.Now quite crying like bitches and make music.Reason4 is killing reason 3
reason 4 is amazing but the sequencer is and has always sucked..I like the automation function and the fact that you can now automate inside a combinator but I always think ahead and export audio to cubase, much better sequencer.
i hate the reason sequencer but love the sound i host reason with fruity loops because fls sequencer and arranger is much easier to use plus you can use vsts and other plugins along with reason, i love that setup, its really flexable.
I thought that only me had problems with the sequencer of Reason 4 but after reading the posts here i realize that many people are dissatisfied with the new update!
Obviously the new sequencer its hectic with fat graphics and limited view for arranging!!!
so disappointing!!!
Hopefully they'll give us the option to choose between the old and new sequencer in next update.
And yes, as already mentioned below remember to try the demo before buy it and cry!!!
is it possible to run reason 3 and 4 on the same computer? i wanna use the thor but not the sequencer. i mainly sample music and i use thor/subtractor for basslines. is it possibly to rewire both versions of 3 and 4 (if possible to run simulataneously) into cubase? thanks
I agree, it is bulky. But Thor you don't want to be without. I guess the best idea is to Rewire Reason into some cooler sequencer, perhaps the one in Logic. Not that I've actually used it seriously, I still can't cope with anything else than Reason.
There is just one point that reason cannot resolve, there is no Step by Step or feet by feet enter note like match in cubase, the matrix is gaz work but the RPG 8 is fine they just need chord arpegio like my roland gear and step by step match enter note to made reason cool, and also a recording device for short sample and using vocoder in real time.
I love Reason sounds. I hate the sequencer. Sure it has some updates rocketing it forward into 2001 (change colors and automation lanes are you kidding??). Ableton, Protools, other industry standards, do you have to stop the song, to copy/paste, to arrange? No. Why? It's a creative flow buzz kill for pros and novice users. Reason does not feel it's required to audition transitions or swap parts IN REAL TIME. How about right click>duplicate, like every other sequencer worth a dime? Nope, sorry.
Of course, but quick cut, copy, paste, duplicatation, is must for me, without stopping the song, or dragging and dropping a marker all the time. I don't mean to bash Reason, it has a universe to offer any producer/songwriter, but it is frustrating and klutsy compared to most other sequencers in this way. I just wrote some great reason loops, resonisms and all. Just seems like a relatively small function to build in to me, that would vastly improve workflow, but I'm not a developer.
LOL I agree, and I like the way you put it. It really is a flow buzz kill. The ppl that design Reason don't take into consideration those kinds of things. They're too focused on improving the ability to make an entire beat without ever having to even listen to it. The speaker in this video even says it himself at 1:20 "What you see is what you hear..."
Exactly! The short comings stand out when you are using Ableton Live/Protools. Rewired together they are extremely powerful, but I still trip switching from the "anything is possible with a click" world of others to Reason. I have been a reason user for 7 years, backwards wack, never get used to it. If this is an attempt to be unique, give it up fellaz. I love the rack, screwing with the signal flow, great! Reason synths are a cut way above, but sequencer "mouse click" work flow is a disaster.
You´re wrong. The sequencer needed a lift. It was too adapted to fit amateur musicians. If you need to change something in the sequencer just make the window bigger, you can do the same in the edit key window. The new vectorbased automation is a bless. And the tool window is very useful. Just record something, and a few clicks in the tool window makes the recording perfect. And if Propellerheads add Vst and audio support, the program would not be as low on the CPU. It´s adapted to laptop pc´s.
I totally agree. I HATE Reason 4.0. The clips make it IMPOSSIBLE to complete a song without a headache. I can never get it to work the way that I want. I made a HUGE mistake when I upgraded. I've been working with pro audio software for over 10 years now and this is my biggest disappointment yet. The only thing that I like about the upgrade is that it now includes a pre-click button as well as a click button. I'm going to reinstall Reason 3.0.
plus i can expand my cubase by buying effects, soundvsti, and whatever to turn it into my own program, and listen to this dude, how you gonne diss hardware keyboards like triton & motiff when most reason users have the motiff bank?but its allright,i know enough dope hiphop heads in reason, what i mean is ,,and listen close,i wanne turn a program into my own porgram(setup)with my hardware soft plugins etcetc, you wouldent buy fl studio and use the stocksounds right?thats what i mean,
trust me dude!!most reason users sounds the same!10000000 users all have same sounds same effects!!but its cool though with sampling yuo always make original music(lmfao @ me saying sampling is original when its allready done!)but most know what i mean!i use cubase and a triton, works fine!live audio!like if you dont combine hardware with soft=you sounding like anyother like reason usrs, but i dont hate!
dude....thats ignorant!!!!! you use a triton.. that piece of shit hardware is whored!! Im no hating on you
you have reason users.....many many users
then you have the "keyboard beat peoplE" Triton.motif.fantom... what about you people// you guys got the same sounds... i heard the same crap outta those keyboards. when it boils down to it its about skills.. *i believe you do have skills.. but dont knock down on someone cuz they solely use reason... its ignorant.. timbo uses vst's from meko
korg titon is used by manymany people in the music industry, plus a korg titon is way more better then reason(for me then ay) first of all reaosn is 1 soft wich you have to do all in,(plus100000 other users got same sounds plus effects,i get ya point, but ti still wouldent fuck with a program like reason, hardware always comes above software!every one know,s that, reaosn costs 400 bucks, a triton starts like at 1500
ok i agree with you on that note. if you got cake OBVIOUSLY cop the hardware. but im talking about skills and IMHO reason is hot. I respect your opinion.
treu every one there own program,im myself a huge cubase user aswell, sinds i saw the new sequencer and design i bought myself a version 4,,but ive noticed the dr rex cant reverse ,is that a option in the other sampler reason has?
i use ,a korg triton, cubase sx,(wich is my hart of the studio)but i own a legal version of fl 7 and reason 4 too,so im doing sum stuff init from time to time, both are very easy to use,but i like the cubase sx with intakt /kontakt as sampler, battery as drum plugin, and my triton for the sounds, intakt has somany options,if you google dr dre beats on google you see him work with that^^ only he uses as host pro tools, but intakt has somuch sampling options,
lol@ a word like pea brain, did i say i use the triton only?nah dickhead,i said i use a triton and cubase,(wich i can expand)plus what i said is reason you cant expand with effects or vsti,s or record live audio init,so try again ..i dont like reaosn cause i cant record preformances from my hardware str8 into it,so know what you comment man,you sounded really retarted
those 1000000 users wont make a dint in the music industry then will they ;P . if you use the setings properly and design ur own sounds then u wont sound the same as everyone, PLUS REFILLS
Can't dude, gotta put up and get recycle. It's worth it though, running audio samples through reason FX is shweet. I have bass loops/vocal parts that i played/recorded and imported that took on a new dimension in reason. Once you build up a library of your own stuff, it starts getting interesting. Rock on.
With Reason's sequencer are you able to input midi note data like in Garageband? I suck at keyboard but it doesn't matter if you can just input the notes manually...it doesn't seem like you can do that which seems completely absurd to me since Reason is about 5,000 times better than Garageband.
Well I tried Ableton for a lil while its nice but I hate the audio clips and unnescesary hussle So I use FL studio and Reason 4.0 together, I'll up an video soon then you'll know what I mean
As someone who started out with ReBirth and Reason 1.0, this new sequencer is really rockin' my world. Little bit of a learning curve, but some much-needed improvements!
<---These things a light bulb will light up!

I think the redesign of sequencer in version 4 downgraded the ease of use and simplicity of Reason!
Its pity that they dont put greater effort and attention when they redesign something that is already great!
Reason was needing quality effect devices and definitely not a sequencer!

I got an idea! if you don't like the sequencer why don't you just rewire to your favorite DAW and use it's sequencer... it's pretty easy to do if you know how to use MIDI. Have you ever seen a software company drop a huge change for a few crybabies? I haven't. please stop crying.
omakayd 3 years ago
i just hate the reason 4 sequencer period! . and all this MIDI graphics stuff is just plain BS. As somebody with database prpgraming exp. i still find this sucker hard to use. I'm dumping this sucker for Live 7 and pro tools ,if i need to use the Thor i will rewire it to pro tools
fosiko123 3 years ago
It's really hard to believe that the new sequencer is worse than previous.
I've been using more than a year R4 and finally I decided to go back to R3 only because of the ease of use of older sequencer.
This must be the worsed update in music software ever!!!
FRUSTRATED!!!
mparish11 3 years ago
Plus 1!
R3 sequencer was 100% straightforward and wasn't interrupting your inspiration.
Indeed the new sequencer in R4 has more weapons but it seems that fancy graphics took over the essence of sequencing:-(
sonitob 3 years ago
If ur on a bus with ur laptop it can get frustrating. They put more focus on MIDI automation (which is cool in one way) but it seems more difficult to create simple concept tracks with the mouse. I'm only new to this so I don't fully understand it yet but lets hope it gets better.
unclelez 3 years ago
Many users loved R4 sequencer but a vast amount of users miss the simple ergonomics of older sequencer!
Im one of them. Every now and then I miss the ease of use of R3 sequencer!
Basically the main problem is the new graphic user interface. The design is not so efficient!
Im sure propellerheads will revamp it in next update!
monchristo 3 years ago
The ease of use and simplicity of Reason 3 sequencer has been downgraded in Reason 4 due to fancy but not so workable graphics.
If you check the official Propellerheads site the dissatisfaction for Reason 4 sequencer is quite enormous!
cargo883 3 years ago
No shit, vector automation isnt knew in general, but new in reason.Iv used vector in protools for yrs.Now quite crying like bitches and make music.Reason4 is killing reason 3
JayWerx 3 years ago
Yeah enough with vector automation shhit, its not a new thing on music applications and not a big deal!!!!!
Bottom line is that Reason's 4 sequencer is worse from Reason's 3!!!!!
I think Propellerhead's need a better graphic design team and pay greater attention when redesigning an existing device or sequencer!!!
borlando28 3 years ago
And the vector point automation is crazy. The shit looks to grid...I love it.
JayWerx 3 years ago
It's not a new thing the vector automation, the Fl Studio includes it, and Fl Studio is shitty hahaha

New sequencer is good..I didnt really like the old one personally. This one looks "cooler" too.Shut up and make music.
JayWerx 3 years ago
Although I really love R4 I'm so fed up with its new sequencer!!!!!!!!!!
when working with projects who got many midi tracks, I'm constantly missing the simplicity of R3 sequencer!
Propellerhead's should provide a better design of sequencer in next version!!!!!

Reasons 4 sequencer is sooooooo hectic!!!
Its my only criticism for R4 but its big one! New sequencer is really holding down my inspiration!

grrr... i want reason4 so freaken bad but i dont have $400 sitting around :(
clubby9806 3 years ago
reason 4 is amazing but the sequencer is and has always sucked..I like the automation function and the fact that you can now automate inside a combinator but I always think ahead and export audio to cubase, much better sequencer.
Bhodisatvas 3 years ago
I believe that Reason is one of the best music applications in music market today! But its sequencer was always a weak point!
Unbelievably in version 4 the sequencer is worse and its the main reason that I'm still using version 3.
Frustrating!

Yall Complain Too Much........Reason 4.0 New Sequencer Has More Of A realistic Human Feel Too It.........
Crazy84Productions 3 years ago
I see what you mean!
Although R4 sequencer has some very good upgrades (time signature-transport track)the design is disappointing because of the fat graphics.
Also it demands more clicks to do the same job as you did in previous versions, like adding a clip to write notes.
chocoboc82 3 years ago
God damn it! Who have designed the new sequencer in reason 4? Its so awful and hard to work with it!
I have 2 computers with R4 and R3 and although I'm working for over 8 months with R4
I still find myself working easier and faster with R3 only because of its simpler, cleaner and not frustrating sequencer!
After reading the comments below I saw that I'm not the only one dissapointed user here!
R4 sequencer needs a SIGNIFICANT REVAMP!
mrmister185 3 years ago
and for the record the older version sequencer sucked to. thats just my opinion.
inndoughmain 3 years ago
i hate the reason sequencer but love the sound i host reason with fruity loops because fls sequencer and arranger is much easier to use plus you can use vsts and other plugins along with reason, i love that setup, its really flexable.
inndoughmain 3 years ago
Its still hard to believe the bad design of new sequencer in Reason 4!
Its so horrible! God knows what was going on when they were redesign it!
So clumsy and fat graphics on the arrangement window! Very frustrating!
cargo883 3 years ago
Its pity that theyve ruined the sequencer, the arrangement view is very messy now.
happychildren84 3 years ago
yeah, it's true Reason's sequencer is a disaster
as a solution i run Reason in slave Rewire mode, and do my sequencing in Ableton live 7
skylerstupid 3 years ago
Reason 4 is great!!! But sequencer is huge disaster I have to admit that!!!
In reason 2 and 3 the sequecer was more straightforward and cleaner!
I'm sure in the next version they will make it better!!!
I also love Thor!!!!!!!!

many users (including me) dont like to work with sequencer detached! its by far better to work with the devices upon sequencer.
but the new sequencer phucked up everything! need a re-design urgently!
fully dissatisfied!!!!!!!!!!!!
styloo83 3 years ago
I really cant find words to describe my negativity for the new sequencer of Reason! What a nightmare!
Its hard to believe that they've re-designed it so badly!
Looks messy and kills the work flow!
DISAPPOINTED!

To all the complainers about the arrange window, you know its detachable right? It gets even bigger than it was before.

And yes, as already mentioned below remember to try the demo before buy it and cry!!!

is it possible to run reason 3 and 4 on the same computer? i wanna use the thor but not the sequencer. i mainly sample music and i use thor/subtractor for basslines. is it possibly to rewire both versions of 3 and 4 (if possible to run simulataneously) into cubase? thanks
thaprecepta 3 years ago
I agree with posters here, Reason's 4 sequencer is a disaster!!!
I wish they have kept the functionality and simplicity of Reason 3!
I really wish in next update to give us the choice to choose between old sequencer and new!
As already have mentioned here, definitely try the demo before you buy the update to avoid disappointment!

Reason's 4 and new sequencer it feels and looks very wrong!!!
GUI is too bulky!!!!!!!!
I'm hugely disappointed by the new sequencer and i regret that I've updated!!!
Be sure to try out the demo before you update!!!
electribe9 3 years ago
I agree, it is bulky. But Thor you don't want to be without. I guess the best idea is to Rewire Reason into some cooler sequencer, perhaps the one in Logic. Not that I've actually used it seriously, I still can't cope with anything else than Reason.
sapht 3 years ago
The new sequencer, its so wrongly designed! The device icons are too big! The arrangement window is too small!
I'm strongly disappointed with this update! I totally hate it!!!
Redesign it again or give us the choice to go back to reason 3 sequencer!
THIS IS URGENT!!!

reason 4 rules.reason 3 hasnt got thor,stupid bastads
sketchsi 3 years ago

Nope, sorry.
spacemanvector32 3 years ago
wow about just drag and drop? Work fine while playing.
pendarn84 3 years ago
Of course, but quick cut, copy, paste, duplicatation, is must for me, without stopping the song, or dragging and dropping a marker all the time. I don't mean to bash Reason, it has a universe to offer any producer/songwriter, but it is frustrating and klutsy compared to most other sequencers in this way. I just wrote some great reason loops, resonisms and all. Just seems like a relatively small function to build in to me, that would vastly improve workflow, but I'm not a developer.
spacemanvector32 3 years ago
LOL I agree, and I like the way you put it. It really is a flow buzz kill. The ppl that design Reason don't take into consideration those kinds of things. They're too focused on improving the ability to make an entire beat without ever having to even listen to it. The speaker in this video even says it himself at 1:20 "What you see is what you hear..."
TheGrizzLab 3 years ago
Reason synths are a cut way above, but sequencer "mouse click" work flow is a disaster.

i loved reason up until version 4, its so frustrating to use

reason 4 sequencer is a total disaster!!!
the new sequencer its tinier, so frustrating and disappointing that forces you to go back to version 3.
propellerheads tried to mimic various other pro sequencers with no success at this point!
the only thing reason was needing was vst support and audio in.
i cant believe that i became a reason hater after version 4!
i totally recommend to try out the demo version before you waste your money with this update!!
time to explore some new applications!
mabuse1 3 years ago
You´re wrong. The sequencer needed a lift. It was too adapted to fit amateur musicians. If you need to change something in the sequencer just make the window bigger, you can do the same in the edit key window. The new vectorbased automation is a bless. And the tool window is very useful. Just record something, and a few clicks in the tool window makes the recording perfect. And if Propellerheads add Vst and audio support, the program would not be as low on the CPU. It´s adapted to laptop pc´s.
kitsune2222 3 years ago
are you for real???
just because you're messing for fun with reason doesnt mean that this update is a must!
the new sequencer forced me to go back to version 3.
it demands much more clicks to edit and its very misleading to make a arrangement!
i work with it more than 2 months and decide to get back to 3.
so dont try to patronize me that V4 is good with amateur and vector based bul.shit!
i've tried and i couldnt focus to write music!
mabuse1 3 years ago
Well its strange that you find it harder to create music. I know its gotten a while to getting used too.
Im working much faster in R4. I also work in cubase 4 and Im getting tired of the sequencer there. I want it to be as smooth as with R4.
I said that R4 is less amateur friendly not vice versa.
kitsune2222 3 years ago
I totally agree. I HATE Reason 4.0. The clips make it IMPOSSIBLE to complete a song without a headache. I can never get it to work the way that I want. I made a HUGE mistake when I upgraded. I've been working with pro audio software for over 10 years now and this is my biggest disappointment yet. The only thing that I like about the upgrade is that it now includes a pre-click button as well as a click button. I'm going to reinstall Reason 3.0.

plus i can expand my cubase by buying effects, soundvsti, and whatever to turn it into my own program, and listen to this dude, how you gonne diss hardware keyboards like triton & motiff when most reason users have the motiff bank?but its allright,i know enough dope hiphop heads in reason, what i mean is ,,and listen close,i wanne turn a program into my own porgram(setup)with my hardware soft plugins etcetc, you wouldent buy fl studio and use the stocksounds right?thats what i mean,

that cool timbo uses vsti,s but reason doest support vsti,s ,lol,

trust me dude!!most reason users sounds the same!10000000 users all have same sounds same effects!!but its cool though with sampling yuo always make original music(lmfao @ me saying sampling is original when its allready done!)but most know what i mean!i use cubase and a triton, works fine!live audio!like if you dont combine hardware with soft=you sounding like anyother like reason usrs, but i dont hate!
rtiztic 3 years ago
dude....thats ignorant!!!!! you use a triton.. that piece of shit hardware is whored!!
Captnuendo 3 years ago
korg titon is used by manymany people in the music industry, plus a korg titon is way more better then reason(for me then ay) first of all reaosn is 1 soft wich you have to do all in,(plus100000 other users got same sounds plus effects,i get ya point, but ti still wouldent fuck with a program like reason, hardware always comes above software!every one know,s that, reaosn costs 400 bucks, a triton starts like at 1500
rtiztic 3 years ago
ok i agree with you on that note. if you got cake OBVIOUSLY cop the hardware. but im talking about skills and IMHO reason is hot. I respect your opinion.
Captnuendo 3 years ago
treu every one there own program,im myself a huge cubase user aswell, sinds i saw the new sequencer and design i bought myself a version 4,,but ive noticed the dr rex cant reverse ,is that a option in the other sampler reason has?
rtiztic 3 years ago
ok so what do you use?
Captnuendo 3 years ago
i use ,a korg triton, cubase sx,(wich is my hart of the studio)but i own a legal version of fl 7 and reason 4 too,so im doing sum stuff init from time to time, both are very easy to use,but i like the cubase sx with intakt /kontakt as sampler, battery as drum plugin, and my triton for the sounds, intakt has somany options,if you google dr dre beats on google you see him work with that^^ only he uses as host pro tools, but intakt has somuch sampling options,
rtiztic 3 years ago
uhm... bullshit. that means you sound the same like the other 10000000 triton users. it's how you use it peabrain. be it hardware or soft.
pinkfloyded 3 years ago
lol@ a word like pea brain, did i say i use the triton only?nah dickhead,i said i use a triton and cubase,(wich i can expand)plus what i said is reason you cant expand with effects or vsti,s or record live audio init,so try again ..i dont like reaosn cause i cant record preformances from my hardware str8 into it,so know what you comment man,you sounded really retarted
rtiztic 3 years ago
those 1000000 users wont make a dint in the music industry then will they ;P . if you use the setings properly and design ur own sounds then u wont sound the same as everyone, PLUS REFILLS

Undercoverangel24 3 years ago
Can't dude, gotta put up and get recycle. It's worth it though, running audio samples through reason FX is shweet. I have bass loops/vocal parts that i played/recorded and imported that took on a new dimension in reason. Once you build up a library of your own stuff, it starts getting interesting. Rock on.

With Reason's sequencer are you able to input midi note data like in Garageband? I suck at keyboard but it doesn't matter if you can just input the notes manually...it doesn't seem like you can do that which seems completely absurd to me since Reason is about 5,000 times better than Garageband.
bw120205 4 years ago
You can input notes manually. Any pitch, duration & velocity, and they don't have to be quantized.

so I guess this advance in Reason technology makes Reason3.0 obsolete, right?
I suppose R3 files and settings will survive the upgrade to R4, right?

Yes you're right
only thing that is bothering me
is that There is no line tool anymore like in R3 but still R4 kicks ass compared to three once you get used to the changes in the sequencer
