  • that should have been good, i don't see any traveling and if u pause it when she release the ball the backboard isn't lit up so it in time. simple i hate refs they ruin games all the time.

  • not 1, not 2, he did 3 but great game

  • he did 3 duhhhhh.

  • dude he only took 1 maybe 2 steps. he didnt take 3 fuckin steps

  • it was 3

  • I say the guy didn't travel.. he shot the ball on his third step after his last dribble, which is legal.. It's not clear if it beats the buzzer, though..

  • You did a wonderful job putting this video together. Wow!! After watching EPNS's Outside the Lines, and then seeing what you did, I truly, truly wish I was there. I certainly appreciated your humour in the transition slides, too! Great job and God Bless Summerville!!

  • atleast 2 reasons why it shouldn't have counted:

    HE TOOK LIKE 4 STEPS!

AND HE SHOT THE BALL AFTER THE TIME RAN OUT!

  • the refs got the call right. First of all the refs never indicated the shot was good so they had every right to gather and discuss the call. Second there is no way a person can get a rebound dribble then shot in that amount of time. third unless u are blind u can see the kid travles before he shoots so the shot shouldn't have mattered any way

  • Just saw this team on ESPN. Good story.

  • What are you talking about? He is dribbling while taking the 3 steps so it's legal.

  • [Clicked enter too fast]

I do believe that the guy got the shot off too late only because the clock started late. There is no way someone can grab a rebound, dribble around a player, dribble two more times and shoot in 1.7.

The refs made the right call. Very gutsy call.

  • what? what? dude, when he did the last dribble he than took one step than a second and than the third step, after the third step he released the ball...shot never counted, I think the referees are talking to each other about the travel!

  • Absolutely no way to grab a rebound, dribble across the lane, turn right, dribble towards the three point line and shoot in 1.7 seconds Get a stop watch and start it right when the rebound is touched and start it when you think the shot is out of his hand I came up with 2.25-2.75 sec ESPN has a great view of when the rebound was first touched. Clock operator screwed up and the refs made the right call Just unfortunate that it happened Unfortunate to be involved in last 3 seconds of this game

  • He took 3 steps and than shoot, so that means he traveled, that shot did not count from the beginning...so yeah! But even so, the red light came on first!

  • He got the shot off but it was maybe with about .1 seconds left so it was nearly impossible for the refs to make a accurate call with out viewing a replay monitor at the arena. But is SC high school basketball does not allow reviewing shots.

  • ok he did not travel, people who say he traveled get that shit in their head and want to have an excuse for what was the greatest shot ever.

Now maybe if he got it off with about .1 seconds and it is nearly immossible for the refs to make an accurate call, how in the fuck are they gonna reverse it when it was orginally ruled good... and slow it down, he did get it off in time...traveling???..now thats bull-she-it. They were flat out screwed because emotions of the refs took over.

  • I'm on press row wearing the white shirt just right of the midcourt logo. I'm doing color for ESPN 1400 in Spartanburg.

  • Wow this vid really did a great job of showing... that the team in white got jobbed.

  • it actually had nothing to do with the supposed traveling, it was that the shot was after the buzzer, and the clock got started late.

    look up "the right call"

  • dont go to either skool and dont know anybody involved, live 4k kms away so hope no one questions my neutrality.he doesnt travel.the maker of the video is threatened by the fact that the shot,if viewed as a legal shot, would mean his team would not be the champs in the eyes of some.the shot went in,that cant be refuted,so he is trying to make it appear as though the shot should never have been taken so the result of the shot should there4 b moot.i cant c how he hauled a reb and 3dribs in1.7secs

  • drop it, its over. we've been screwed 100 times too out of things. remember the gaffney state football game? yeah screwed out that one, it was proved afterwords.the other team played great no doubt about it. whether the shot was good or not s'ville does have the title, just think of it as a way to remember coach mulkey NOT FIGHT over something that happened months ago. i know that its state and its a big deal but seriously the about the video in the corner talks about coach mulkey not the shot.

  • (cont'd)

However, that being said, after watching your slowed down vid, the player didn't travel in the first place. The first "step" had already been made as he was picking up the ball. He took his two steps, shot, and made it.

Big mistake on the refs' part. And it's unfortunate...because no one should be satisfied with winning a game on a bad call. But oh well.

  • First off, I have no real investment in this game, I was actually just searching for amazing basketball shots.

But from all the angles of this shot I've seen, there's no question the player lets the ball go BEFORE the red lights around the basket turn on.

Also, what scottdixon said is absolutely true. The refs never saw a travel, and never called a travel, so it's irrelevant if he did take one too many steps.

  • im glad u took the time out to slow down the video but it would really help if your view was not from up in the stands...I mean how can u see his steps when he is in the dark area. You cant even c the ball DUMMY.

WRONG WAY 2 PROVE A CASE!!!

  • I'm from Michigan so I don't really care much either way...but I've seen this video from about ten angles and my verdict is that the refs blew it.

  • Wow.....10 angles thats amazing could you please foward the other nine? I mean thats more angles then what was shot at the game, well unless you had views from private individuals with video cameras.....but I guess if you had that then you would care......either way, I mean. :)

So what do you think of Z traveling he did piror to releasing the ball......just after the game was over?

  • I tell you what it was a great game between two great teams. I would have paid extra as I left because I got my money worth and some more. Wow is all I can say almost a week later!

  • If they review the shot as some would like then the fact that Z travled would come into play under a review....be the as it may.

Not one official gave the signal (both hands raised above their head indicating if the basket was good then it would count as a 3 pointer) why? One Official WAVED off the shot piror to Z releasing the ball because he time had expired. Thats why the players next to this Official errupted with excitment giving the sign that the basket was no good...Game Over.

  • Hey smarty head can I ask you a question?

Did ANYBODY else at the game have a camcorder or anything? You can't tell me nobody else had one except for somebody in the furthest seats from the court?

That shot clearly went in but it's just the referee's had to make a call but that was too close to call.

If there were any other angles, you guys would have a different team as your state champions.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it please :D

  • My unbiased opinion is: whether or not he traveled is irrelevant, unless the officials signaled traveling. If the officials had seen traveling, then they should have called it right away, no need for a 5-minute discussion. If the officials didn't see/call it, then he didn't travel. Then the question is, did he get the shot off before the buzzer, period. The officials can't say "well, we missed a traveling call back there, so we're going to wave off the basket."
