  • Aaaaah ... I'd forgotten about this song. I taught myself to sing it when I was about seven. This takes me right back to a backyard with a lemon tree (which taught me the art and craft of tree-climbing) just across from Bronte Beach, Sydney; sun, sand and skinned knees! Definitely an enduring classic.

Incidentally, my 16 yr old son has always loved eating lemons. Even as a toddler he would suck them. Which shows that this bloke's father didn't research his allegory with scientific rigour ;-)

  • weee u say high school im not even in highschool muhahahahahahaha lol learned this song a while back but not so long but i do love it weee =)

  • Memories - aaah - "highschool" - Silkeborg 1971

  • lemon tree very crappy and the fruit of it gives me heartburn

  • lol

  • In the book "The Things They Carried", Curt Lemon steps on "booby-trapped 105 round", which causes an explosion and his death while playing catch with a smoke-grenade. Two soldiers, Dave Jensen and Tim O'Brien, had to scrape his remains off the trees. Jensen sang this song while he worked.

  • gyönyörű! talán a legjobb!!

  • oldibutgoodi54, As a young girl I used to sing this with friends in elementary school.

BTY, Try Meyer Lemons - they are very Sweet! - Penny

  • WHERE U GET THIS WALLPAPER? I WANT IT!

  • This is a song from the time when I was young. I still love it, particularly the version of Peter, Paul and Mary... Thank you and 5*****!

  • Love this song!! Quite a few memories ;)

  • This song is referenced in Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried, in an unexpected and poignant way. It really does the sentiment of the song and the beliefs of the group credit, as well as adding a new meaning to the words of the song. I would highly reccomend reading the book.

  • I've read the book! I believe the poor sod who got his ass handed to him by a landmine was named... Lemon.

  • great song. five stars all the way!!!

  • ik woonde in 1968 in Australie en tijdens de geboorte van mijn oudste zoon werd deze song gespeeld, geweldig veel herinneringen komen weer boven.

  • I found this song in my Dad's Ipod.

After pressing replay on this song for a few times , I could still hear the song after I stopped listening to the Ipod. x__X

  • I looked up this song after reading "The Things They Carried."

Imagining that part of the book now kind of freaks me out.

  • It ever happens that way,a sadder man is always the wiser man...This song has also been performed by THE SEEKERS.

  • peter paul and mary is awesomer :0

  • Jerry: 'Lemon Tree'

    George: Peter, Paul and Mary.

    Jerry: No, Trini Lopez.

Both: (Singing) Lemon tree very pretty and a lemon flower

  • Brings back times when I was little in 5th grade in Germany...Frankfurt International School (1966) Class chorus had to sing this ....

  • Brilliant

  • Beautifully sung by PP & M.

There was a song I still can't find.

" Come back Lisa, come back girl".

I think sang by Fredrick & Lena in 50's.

Apprecite if anyone can help me to find it.

    A Fan from Sri Lanka

  • 子供の時、この音楽で成長しました♪

  • Beautiful, long time no hear. Very gorgeous picture, but it isn't a lemon tree, ha!

  • I have been looking for this song for a long time... Thanks a lot..

  • LOVE PETER PAUL AND MARY THEIR AWESOME

  • In my opinion...The sweetest song of the "Folk Era". Remember singing it many times, everytime we were being serenated by one of our guitar playing friends.

  • A metaphorically meaningful song. Oddly, it could just as well be a warning about many of the causes Peter, Paul and Mary have supported as it could be about the course of our current leaders.

  • By the way, I love the song, and I far prefer Peter Paul and Mary's version to anyone else's (particularly Trini Lopez's, which sucks out the meaning to turn it into a dance song). But I stand by what I said. It's metaphorically meaningful whether one be left, right, or center.

  • Ich bin damit aufgewachsen... und ich war damals so um die 6 Jahre alt... oder so.. immer wieder schön...!

  • I love this song

  • My father used to sing this song to me! Thanks i found it!

  • lovely song

  • I've been looking for this forever! Thanks!
