lol i LOVE this song. i wish i could find my cd with this and push the magic dragon, but looks like this is the only place i can hear. thanks for posting it!!!
yeah, woops i accidently put push. i wasnt payinf that much attention when i was writing cuz i was talking and listening to this song. but yeah, i know its PUFF the mag
Aaaaah ... I'd forgotten about this song. I taught myself to sing it when I was about seven. This takes me right back to a backyard with a lemon tree (which taught me the art and craft of tree-climbing) just across from Bronte Beach, Sydney; sun, sand and skinned knees! Definitely an enduring classic.
Incidentally, my 16 yr old son has always loved eating lemons. Even as a toddler he would suck them. Which shows that this bloke's father didn't research his allegory with scientific rigour ;-)
My parents used to have this on in the car! I remember learning the lyrics by heart and by ear. And now I have forgotten. Good bye, now, I'm off to Google Search the lyrics!
eh hehe im sending another comment on this video and its been 2 weeks :o i dont know how i know this song i just do and its funny how much i listern to it XD and i love lemons!
In the book "The Things They Carried", Curt Lemon steps on "booby-trapped 105 round", which causes an explosion and his death while playing catch with a smoke-grenade. Two soldiers, Dave Jensen and Tim O'Brien, had to scrape his remains off the trees. Jensen sang this song while he worked.
This song is referenced in Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried, in an unexpected and poignant way. It really does the sentiment of the song and the beliefs of the group credit, as well as adding a new meaning to the words of the song. I would highly reccomend reading the book.
In my opinion...The sweetest song of the "Folk Era". Remember singing it many times, everytime we were being serenated by one of our guitar playing friends.
A metaphorically meaningful song. Oddly, it could just as well be a warning about many of the causes Peter, Paul and Mary have supported as it could be about the course of our current leaders.
By the way, I love the song, and I far prefer Peter Paul and Mary's version to anyone else's (particularly Trini Lopez's, which sucks out the meaning to turn it into a dance song). But I stand by what I said. It's metaphorically meaningful whether one be left, right, or center.
omg i love the picture for this

Beautifully sung by PP & M.
There was a song I still can't find.
" Come back Lisa, come back girl".
I think sang by Fredrick & Lena in 50's.
Apprecite if anyone can help me to find it.
