If the sound effects sound like something from a 2600 game, you're right. The 7800 uses the same TIA sound chip for that the 2600 used. I learned from Wikipedia that it was possible for game designers to add optional sound chip to the 7800 cartridges, obviously that wasn't done for this game.
The audio generated by the 7800 is generally a disaster, and one can't help but think it was a major mis-step by company president Jack Tramiel. The console was saddled with the same audio chip as the 2600 to save money during production.
1) Tramiel didn't design the system, he inherited. Warner and GCC designed it.
2) The system has the same audio for 2600 compatibility. The original plan was to have sound in the cartridges (ala Commando and Ballblazer). Tramiel did generally nix that idea.
@Umma6umma "Jack Tramiel" comes up a lot amongst Atari or hobbyist computing enthusiasts from that time, in regards to the downward spiral the company experienced. Rightfully so, from what I recall.
Anyway, great vids, I love stopping by now and then.
The game hid some kind of code you needed under a terminal, and you couldnt search under it because doing so would turn on the terminal. I think the PAL version started buggy and was fixed, but the NTSC version wasnt fixed. Atari dumped the 7800 before they could fix the NTSC version.
If i recall correctly, the PAL version was bug free, and had extra surprises in it also. The NTSC version was faulty,as you couldn't flip a switch, that you had to do in the game to beat it,or was improperly hidden in the game, something like that.
I checked every room for every item and still couldn't get the whole code for solving the game. Was that one of the bugs?
