You asked why is it pushing the earth up Here is my guess and I might have no idea what I'm talking about I'm not sure if you can accurately use an ice cube in a glass of water comparison since the glass is rigid and constant. Maybe the earth isn't rigid and constant. Maybe it flexes and the increased pressure by the weight of the extra water might make the earth push up in places. It would be similar to displacement of a cube of ice in a glass of water. But with more variables

I don't dispute glacial rebounding - but I do dispute the speed at which we may see the effects and perhaps the effects in general. When you talk about all this weight leaving the ground, and going into the ocean, factor in the current weights of the ocean and the earth, and see what kind of percentage this changes really are.
