And they completely blamed Cobra Commander for all their losses and treated him as an incompetent leader and were happy to be finally rid of him. The DIC GI Joe show is pure shit, BUT, I have to count it as Canon because they bitched out Serpentor & put THE Cobra Commander back on top!
This is the ONLY moment in the entire show where I was like "YES! This is awesome!". And the best part? Serpentor has no dignity in his send off. None at all.

Although ideally Serpentor should have lasted about 5 episodes, then make a movie about how The CC reclaims his glory by throwing Serpentor into lava or something (and not getting totally wronged with that CobraLa crap). Then, with the success of a good GI Joe movie, the franchise wouldn't be taken over by DIC and start its decline. Oh well maybe next time.

I don't know how Cobra Commander managed to overthrow Serprentor and regain power. He was basically demoted and then turned into a snake in the cartoon movie.
I do admit the Sunbow Joe blows away the DIC but I do believe that the very first episodes of DIC are still pretty good, including this. The music is still SUNBOW like and the storyline is still a little dark not too cartooony but there are traces in this that do show DIC direction. Also, if you look at the clip on youtube with Storm Shadow saving Snake Eyes that has DIC ALL OVER IT.

After the movie the animated series went downhill.

I hated Serpentor! I am glad Cobra Commander finally got back at him! However, why did Cobra all of a sudden side with him after the organization chose (and made) Serpentor to replace Cobra Commander because the latter was such a bad leader? What drove Baroness and Nogaheid to this?
Likely the fact that in the end, Serpentor was just as much as insane (in a more subtle way than Cobra Commander) and as much of a failure as a leader against the forces of GI Joe, as CC. Therefore, Destro, Baroness and Norgahide all decided to usurp Sepentor's control and put good old Cobra Commander back in charge of Cobra.
@Kaagh178, or better yet, they realized they all got sick of Serpentor when they realized that he was a bigger asshole than Cobra Commander ever was-even his creator Dr. Bend Over( I mean Mindbender) regretted that he created that he created him. Cobra Commander may have been an asshole as well but at least he was more tolerable.
It's never confirmed what happens to Serpentor, exactly. He was either hunted down and barbequed by Nogahide after this scene, or he changed back and lived out the rest of his unatural life as a swamp hermit eating flies. Personally, I think both fates suited him.
Bizarrely, after he gets changed by by Baroness in the DIC continuation, he becomes a green skinned scaly lizard like humanoid. However, strangely once he puts his helmet or hood on, white human like skin can be seen beneath. At least the transformation back to his normal self got rid of Cobra Commander's nasty face mutation (he grew an unnatural number of eyes on his face) that he had as a result of a laboratory Spore accident in Cobra La.

i always like cobra comander i was not a big fan of seprentor i kinda think he ruined the series i guess they wanted to bring in some historys dictators in the cartoon by turing them into seprentor.
Dic bought the rights from Hasbro. So it slowly became P.C. And he became human from the dragonfire. The dragon fire mini series aint to bad. it dose have some good points.
God this is horrible writing. Why do we have to resurrect the past? I know a lot of people didn't like the movie, and I concede that Cobra-la was in many ways lame, but I liked Cobra Commander's tragic end. Should have left him dead and let the remaining generals of Cobra fight it out for succession.
There seem to be a lot of mixed opinions here. People are getting thumbs up for liking Serpentor and then others seem to get thumbs down. What's the deal?
I liked what they did with CC when they brought him back, looked better than he did before (i like the old CC with the hood, but not the silver and blue Darth Vader helmet). Serpentor was the man (snake) though before the movie, really towered over CC and looked like a dangerous foe for the joes before DIC changed him into a sub-par puss.
Holy COW I can't believe how awful this was. I was a big fan of the series but I never saw these episodes. I don't think I was even aware that there were episodes with Iron Grenadier Destro, let alone Night Vipers and Alley Vipers. Weird. Terrible quality.

Apparently at the start of teh Dic series, cobra commander was turned back into a human.
I don't now. I was living in (West) Germany at the time. I don't remember much of the Dic series thankfully.

I hated Serpentor! I am glad Cobra Commander finally got back at him! However, why did Cobra all of a sudden side with him after the organization chose (and made) Serpentor to replace Cobra Commander because the latter was such a bad leader? What drove Baroness and Nogaheid to this?

Likely the fact that in the end, Serpentor was just as much as insane (in a more subtle way than Cobra Commander) and as much of a failure as a leader against the forces of GI Joe, as CC. Therefore, Destro, Baroness and Norgahide all decided to usurp Sepentor's control and put good old Cobra Commander back in charge of Cobra.

@Kaagh178, or better yet, they realized they all got sick of Serpentor when they realized that he was a bigger asshole than Cobra Commander ever was-even his creator Dr. Bend Over( I mean Mindbender) regretted that he created that he created him. Cobra Commander may have been an asshole as well but at least he was more tolerable.

It's never confirmed what happens to Serpentor, exactly. He was either hunted down and barbequed by Nogahide after this scene, or he changed back and lived out the rest of his unatural life as a swamp hermit eating flies. Personally, I think both fates suited him.

Bizarrely, after he gets changed by by Baroness in the DIC continuation, he becomes a green skinned scaly lizard like humanoid. However, strangely once he puts his helmet or hood on, white human like skin can be seen beneath. At least the transformation back to his normal self got rid of Cobra Commander's nasty face mutation (he grew an unnatural number of eyes on his face) that he had as a result of a laboratory Spore accident in Cobra La.

Dic bought the rights from Hasbro. So it slowly became P.C. And he became human from the dragonfire. The dragon fire mini series aint to bad. it dose have some good points.

God this is horrible writing. Why do we have to resurrect the past? I know a lot of people didn't like the movie, and I concede that Cobra-la was in many ways lame, but I liked Cobra Commander's tragic end. Should have left him dead and let the remaining generals of Cobra fight it out for succession.

I liked what they did with CC when they brought him back, looked better than he did before (i like the old CC with the hood, but not the silver and blue Darth Vader helmet). Serpentor was the man (snake) though before the movie, really towered over CC and looked like a dangerous foe for the joes before DIC changed him into a sub-par puss.

Holy COW I can't believe how awful this was. I was a big fan of the series but I never saw these episodes. I don't think I was even aware that there were episodes with Iron Grenadier Destro, let alone Night Vipers and Alley Vipers. Weird. Terrible quality.

Serpentor might've been the point at which G.I.Joe "jumped the shark."
For that matter, he might've even been as ineffectual as our beloved Chris Latta/Cobra Commander (is there any other?! :D).
But like I said months ago, this was an undignified ending; as I also pointed out, it was pretty clear Serpentor was DEAD before D.I.C. took over *groan*

The original Sunbow/Toei Season 3 had Tomax and Xamot reforming Cobra into a criminal cartel after Serpentor died, but Cobra Commander was still alive in the background.

his name is "scoop" and his family was killed by cobra , but he thought it was G.I.Joe . later in the show he learned it was cobra who killed them and swiched sides .
