My whole point was to compliment to lesterjohnson! My advice to change the music would only serve to benefit the visuals and better immerse the viewer without the distraction of the chaotic speedmetal thrash band, the music chosen simply does not fit the epic visuals.

It seems to me that the helicopter is pretty far away from the sailing boat, and I doubt the turbulens results in that broach (loosing control of the boat). Allso, the sailing boat has the wind in from port side (left), but the helicopter flyes on the starboard side. To me it seems that the sailing boat hits a bad set of waves, presses the bough down in the next wave, stops, and is pushed up to the surface again over to starboard. And the result is a pretty ugly (or spectacular :) ) broach.

Here is a question to all the yacht experts, since I don't know too much about yacht racings ;) : To mee it seems that the yacht on 1:25 was hit from the wind from the helicopter that actually made the pictures of it. I've always wondered, how it's possible to fly with helicopters through some yachts without ever causing any trouble with the wind. And shortly before 1:25 the camera flew quite exactly (as it seems to me) above that direction, where the wind for the yacht came from.

A Broach is to windward.

As you are heading down wind, the boat spins out.

It turns to windward, and almost instantly you are on a beam reach with a full spinnaker pulling the head of the mast sideways. Death roll is caused by hull shape, but results in a broach (I sail an SJ-24, notorius for it). An accidental gybe is just that.

The boat at 1:53 rounds up to windward without gybing...which by your definition is a deathroll (I always thought that was a broach).  The one at 1:25 rounds down (broach?), gybes and spins out. Which is which?

1:25 is a pitch pole that turns into a spin because the boat is big and hard to finish the pitchpole completely.

1:53 is a broach... it looks like the knockdown started before the actual broach, but it's still a broach. Exciting on keelboats, but on extreme performance boats it is quite common and crews get used to it.
