Obviously, no one wants war and everyone wants to get out of Iraq, but thank God Huckabee has enough balls to convince people that we need to take fucking responsibility for screwing over Iraq. Just think what will happen in Iraq if we leave? We're trying to "save face" by ditching the mess we made. I like both candidates, but Ron Paul may be off center here.
wow, finally some sense here on YouTube! i want to get out of iraq... and soon. but that doesn't give us an excuse to run away with our tail between our legs.
5000 troops have died in the wars, my thoughts and prayers go to those families. But let us put this in perspective, over 40,000 people a YEAR die in auto aciidents, and half of all auto accidents involve alcohol or other means of intoxication. As a firefighter I can tell you, the drunk almost never dies, but the innocent family he hits does. GOD BLESS AMERICA AND GOD BLESS MIKE!!!
Thank God for real people with real values. I am refering to Mike. Ron and his ideas of the war are the same as the democrats and that is why they are going to lose to Mike. I cant believe this country is becoming so pacifist.
Ron Paul got absolutely owned. I have never seen anyone in my life get owned more than Ron Paul in this debate. He's not a true conservative and has no values to speak of.
rdingmanw, Ron Paul is actually highly poised intelligent, and respectable. He has stood for same consistent principles for years, and has righteously stood his ground and buried people in debates with cold hard facts since at least the 80's. You will watch his opponents constantly retort with hype, and public support statements after he states and breaks down facts. This isn't a popularity contest... Ron Paul is a patiotic American and the real deal...
Iraq isn't a jar of peas, Mike. There's not enough money in the bank or blood flowing out of the veins of Americans that can pay to fix that country. Iraq is actively fighting us to stay broken.
Ron Paul is the only honorable man up there. IRAQ is a mess and we need to leave. Thousands of civilians are being killed for no reason whatsoever. This is ridiculous. This must stop.
"Ron Paul is the only honorable man up there. IRAQ is a mess and we need to leave. Thousands of civilians are being killed for no reason whatsoever. This is ridiculous. This must stop."
Yeah just like the domino effect in vietnam,if we pulled out... communism is just running rampant now. Jesus.. do you really believe the crap these guys are saying?? There might not be any hope for America if people like you are the majority..
I like Huckabee because he is a candidate that tells us what he believes that must be done, and tells us directly. He doesn't try to go around the point, he doesn't sit on the fence, he has a position where he stands and stays there.
Sort of like the way that Ron Paul's voting record has been consistent in all 10 terms in the house? I like Paul, not because he's anti war, but because he understands that our own policies have pulled us into the middle east, where we have no buisness being, and also because he seems to be the only honest candidate at these debates.
Well FYI Muslims don't like Christians(and they mostly assume we are all Christians even though we are a heathen secular nation now), they see our occupation of their country as another crusade. So by supporting America being in Iraq, you inadvertently support the idea general idea of the crusades, but just not on the same principles for being over there.
that is just stupid, Hilary is just a National socializt, she would kill the country faster than Granholm is killing Michigan...
and your so un patriotic. and btw being a patriot is normally standing up to the governments abuse of power, not waving the amarican flag and going to to stupid wars to force the people of the nation of Iraq to be like Americans.
Ron Paul knows a little bit about honor. He served in Vietnam with honor, and he receives more donations from military personal than any other candidate.
It's a war for oil...the US is not there to keep the country at peace, theres lots of bad shit going on in the world, why isn't the US going to "save" all the other countries.
americangirl1230, did you just say civil war? they have been in a civil war for ages now get with the picture. its a hopeless, unconstitutional, and illegal war.
are you serious? do you follow world politics or are you commenting on a situation you are ignorant of? they were in civil war way before we got there, we only made is worse.
Did Iraq have anything to do with 9/11 terrorist attacks , NO not at all , most of the terrorists involved were from Saudia Arabia not Iraq. Ron Paul is the only candidate that knows we are at War with terrorists and this war will never end , thats why he wants our troops home. This war will end up shifting over to Iran and other countries setting us up for the next World War. Huckabee is a good candidate but he doesn't realize that "fixing" Iraq will take decades and more American lifes.
ron paul whines a lot. i don't see why so many people think he's some kind of genius. he never explains how coming home is going to solve any problem, he just says that it will and we're supposed to take his word for it. he appeals to the anti-war crowd, but he usually gets smoked when he goes toe to toe with somebody else on the stage.
I'm a Ron Paul supporter, but i have to say that I think both Paul and Huckabee both made good points. I think we SHOULD get out of Iraq as soon as possible, but I also think we owe it to the people of Iraq to help them establish a form of Government. If Paul doesn't get the nomination, I'll go for Huckabeee, because he sounds like a good man too. but if Huckabee doesn't get it then I'm not voting for Guiliani because he's the Antichrist
Paul wants to completely leave from Iraq after American forces have "broke it." What a disgraceful thing it would be to completely leave after breaking it. Like Huckabee said, whether or not we should have gone into Iraq is not clear, but we (American forces) it and now have bought it. We have an obligation.
Huckabee destroyed Paul on this... Paul had to misconstrue information and thinks we can just walk away. Also, making a second mistake by leaving pre maturely would be worse than going in with out good intel. also, Paul made it about saving face when that is all leaving would do. we would save face as another Taliban rose up, Paul's rhetoric is pretty disgusting.
thank you for your service. whether the war is right or wrong, i will always support our troops. if this war was a mistake, lets remember that two wrongs don't make a right, so we can just walk out. support huck!
Ron Paul is the only honest person about Iraq. To disagree with him is one thing, but calling him an idiot only shows your ignorance. Ron Paul alone cannot change the government. i.e. get rid of income tax. But neither does Congress have the power to stop him. The power is in the citizens of the United States. I think I just made you look dumb on another video too... however... Ron Paul recieves donations from people only, no special interests, no big business, individual donations only, I've converted many Democrats to Ron Paul fans, because he appeals to both Democrats and Republicans, and Libertarians, and Whites, and Blacks, and Other nations, we have other nations basically PLEADING us to elect Paul.
No. The Neo cons in the republican party hate him and so do the neo cons in the democratic party hate him. The people love him. He believes in liberty, fairness, peace, life, democracy and the constitution. How can those be bad qualities?
Mike, mike, mike,... you sold yourself to the devil and now you are giving bad analogies as if "WE THE PEOPLE" were a bunch of 5th graders, completely letting us know how lost you are in yourself about what you stand for, it is definitely not the Constitution.
Mike Huckabee talks about honor...sometimes the honerable thing to do is to admit fault. If you can agree that Iraq war was done improperly, or for the wrong reasons and is being managed poorly- wouldn't the source of the problem in Iraq then be the U.S. Military is occupying Iraq? Just by being there, U.S. soldiers provoke the insurgants, car bombing, and chaos.
The solution is quite simple, admit that they made a mistake a pull out the troops; give the Iraqs a chance to govern themselves.
He did admit the fault of not going in with good inteligence. He has been a more realistic and coherent critic of the Bush administration than Paul has been. But he stood up to Ron Paul and his crazy town followers by showing that making a second mistake to save face would just put Iran and Al Qaeda in control of the various sections of Iraq, something we cannot allow.
Ron Paul speaks from the heart, and tells the truth. So many of the other candidates are for the government which serves the corporate profiteers of war, the Haliburtons and Blackwaters, and Big Oil. The Iraq war is about making money for greedy American corporations.
Ron still gets little respect from major media outlets because his "old right" conservative views place the congressman outside the narrow confines of contemporary Republicanism. But the fact that the most avidly anti-war candidate for the GOP nod is raising money as quickly as McCain, the war's chief champion, offers one more indication that the media's anti-Paul bias is misplaced.
Perhaps you have seen that youtube video comments can sometimes be a vast wasteland, with some pretty indecent stuff. Now, if you think free speech only means letting "anything go" in a comments section, you are very uneducated and misinformed. Moderation is a normal course of action when allowing responses, in order to weed out the filthy vile that people who, hiding behind a screen name, feel is okay.
Just in case, I hope you don't segregate my comment, it is my humble opinion based on how long I have known of Huckabee and how far down the Neo Con hole he has gone.
The founding fathers of this country were libertarian/Conservative Republicans, Look it up you shit talkers.
Huckabee isn't a bad guy at all but he isn't realistic. He is speaking like an actor not as a president, sorry. If this was a perfect world then yes, we are bound as 1, but it isn't. As Ron Paul says, The Neo-Cons hijacked and tricked us into Iraq. Huckabee doesnt see that for some reason.
Ron Paul seems like just another politician that says what everyone wants to hear to get elected. That's the signals I get. That doesn't make him a good leader.
I don't understand why people are saying Huckabee is the dark horse. I consider him the main contender while Ron Paul is the dark horse. Giuliani and Romney are a joke.
Huckabee's considered the dark horse because up until recently, no one knew anything about him. He was just another one of those 1% candidates. Now though, he's really starting to stand out in the arena.
Nation building at the tax payers expense is an act of aggression. It is the strict use of force to bring about changes. This is unacceptable, and it undermines a free society. The American soldier should NEVER go to war to enforce UN resolutions or answer to UN bureaucrats. Our military honor themselves by defending American National security. They are dishonored by our Government when used for purposes not precisely defined by our Constitution.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: it's called the elastic clause! Strict Constructionalism's main paragon gave up on the philosophy when the LA Purchase was offered to him. That's right, by Paul's laws we'd still be thirteen states.
That's a mighty conclusion. I understand your train of thought but disagree on what you arrived at. Ron Paul simply wants to protect the rights of the people and make sure, with do process, that congress also does its job.
To say that its Strict constuctionalism is kinda harsh. Ron Paul represents honesty. Go Paul!
The President is responsible to protect Americans, American rule of law, and through the Congress, American National Security. A President is responsible to work with the Government and others, to ensure the protection of the privacy and the liberties of all Americans. To ensure democracy is spread here, to ensure our own boarders are protected.
Iraq is not a island in the middle of a ocean. What happens in Iraq will affect the whole Middle East. Huckabee have my full support! When will Duncan Hunter get a chance to debate with Ron on Iraq? Hunter has a REAL plan to get Iraqis to defend Iraq while Ron just want to cut and run. Will Ron do the same on Afghanistan?
Everything's a conspiracy! It's the Federal Reserve! It's the neocons! It's the corporations! It's the aliens! It's the black helicopters! It's the JOOOOOOs!
Who are these men in white coats, and where are they taking me?
I respect Paul and Huckabee. But I have to say I agree with Huckabee on this one. I also liked the fact that Faux news couldn't bait him into trashing Rep. Paul in the interview afterward. Instead he actually said that he respected him standing up for what he believed in, and that he just disagrees with him.
I agree with Huckabee too, but I don't think we will ever be in a position to save face unless we focus our resources on building the Iraq government and its army rather than having our troops over there.
That's a job for IRAQ. NOT us. At this point, I believe we have been more than patient with the Iraqi parliament in getting their act together. We freed them from a dictator: Good. We gave them a foundation and years of semi-effective protection: Good. They have the tools, they're on the bike and holding the bar. We've pushed them along far enough. They're either gonna ride or fall of and try again. Not like they never had a democracy before.
I'll give Huckabee the thumbs up because he actually had the balls to go against Ron Paul on his views without using the word 'terrorist'. All the other candidates wouldn't dare confront him. I'll give Ron Paul the thumbs up because he believes the rest of his part is going down the wrong path and he has the balls to stand up to them.
This is the only actually thing I could call a debate in the whole thing, the rest was just Q&A...
We have to win in iraq so those that have died will not have died in vain. A secure Iraq will also make us safer here in the US. Personally, i would rather have the war over there than over here, and have our civilians being brought into more danger. Lets not forget 911 because we invite agression from our enemies if we do not fight back
I will say this about Ron Paul-at least he is saying what he really thinks, most of these guys are giving these sort of programmed responses. BTW I liked McCain the best during this debate.
This was the best part of the night. The rest was pretty boring. Even though I respect Ron Paul, Mike Huckabee hit the nail on the head, and made Mr. Paul look a bit foolish. Both dark horses are interesting to watch. Why isn't Huckabee doing better than Rudy, McCain and Romney?
That, of course, is a matter of opinion. I'm not necessarily "for" Ron Paul at this point, I'm doing my research. But in this exchange, I have to say that Dr Paul makes much more sense than Huckabee. Huckabee simply appealed to EMOTION. Dr Paul is talking through REASON and the rule of LAW. Big difference. We don't need another popularist president, we need a moral and ethical one who will serve the PEOPLE and no other.
And, my downvote point was proven. Stop censoring, paul fans.
Paul isn't looking at the whole deal, as shown on O'Reilly tonight. He doesn't know what he's talking about and his liberatarian views of it all were unrealistic. Huckabee provided the argument that we shouldn't just back out because we made a mistake or two, because if we do there will be consequences.
I know Mike Huckabee personally and have worked for him. Mike Huckabee IS a MORAL and ETHICAL man and wants nothing more than to serve the people morally and ethically and has done so as Governor of Arkansas and and would continue to so as President. GO MIKE O8
How exactly is it that a man comes across as "kooky" for advocating, in the office of the President, that we should return to the rule of LAW? I mean REAL law grounded in the authority of the PEOPLE? Not some made up law like, oh, EVERYTHING that has to do with Executive Orders. There is NO such power given to the office of the President in the US Constitution. Who did you want to call "kooky" again?
Go mike huckabe!
he makes more sence than mccain or Ron Paul
i don't know why he cares so much for the popularity of his
May God help mike get elected next time cuz i will totally support him

But the fact that the most avidly anti-war candidate for the GOP nod is raising money as quickly as McCain, the war's chief champion, offers one more indication that the media's anti-Paul bias is misplaced.

"Comments pending approval." So you don't believe in free speech? Wow, that's real conservative. Hypocrite.
nododon 4 years ago 6
Perhaps you have seen that youtube video comments can sometimes be a vast wasteland, with some pretty indecent stuff. Now, if you think free speech only means letting "anything go" in a comments section, you are very uneducated and misinformed. Moderation is a normal course of action when allowing responses, in order to weed out the filthy vile that people who, hiding behind a screen name, feel is okay.

Just in case, I hope you don't segregate my comment, it is my humble opinion based on how long I have known of Huckabee and how far down the Neo Con hole he has gone.
Carlitos1010 4 years ago 3
The founding fathers of this country were libertarian/Conservative Republicans, Look it up you shit talkers.
Huckabee isn't a bad guy at all but he isn't realistic. He is speaking like an actor not as a president, sorry. If this was a perfect world then yes, we are bound as 1, but it isn't. As Ron Paul says, The Neo-Cons hijacked and tricked us into Iraq. Huckabee doesnt see that for some reason.

Ron Paul seems like just another politician that says what everyone wants to hear to get elected. That's the signals I get. That doesn't make him a good leader.

ron paul has had the exact same platform his entire career. look a little deeper, if you haven't already.

He is consistently insane.

Why's Ron Paul crazy? Are you saying all Libertarians are crazy? Answer those questions truthfully.
MooseOfReason 4 years ago
Because he is nuts, and because Libertarians with such an unrealistic view of foreign policy are nuts.

I don't understand why people are saying Huckabee is the dark horse. I consider him the main contender while Ron Paul is the dark horse. Giuliani and Romney are a joke.
thejobloshow 4 years ago
Huckabee's considered the dark horse because up until recently, no one knew anything about him. He was just another one of those 1% candidates. Now though, he's really starting to stand out in the arena.
kafeithekeaton 4 years ago 2
Huckabee's getting the nomination; I guarantee you.

They are dishonored by our Government when used for purposes not precisely defined by our Constitution.
rgvhen 4 years ago
I've said it before and I'll say it again: it's called the elastic clause! Strict Constructionalism's main paragon gave up on the philosophy when the LA Purchase was offered to him. That's right, by Paul's laws we'd still be thirteen states.
kafeithekeaton 4 years ago
That's a mighty conclusion. I understand your train of thought but disagree on what you arrived at. Ron Paul simply wants to protect the rights of the people and make sure, with do process, that congress also does its job.
To say that its Strict constuctionalism is kinda harsh. Ron Paul represents honesty. Go Paul!
roen04 4 years ago 2
Keep saying it. It doesn't make you right.

Will Ron do the same on Afghanistan?

romanerdstrom 4 years ago
I respect Paul and Huckabee. But I have to say I agree with Huckabee on this one. I also liked the fact that Faux news couldn't bait him into trashing Rep. Paul in the interview afterward. Instead he actually said that he respected him standing up for what he believed in, and that he just disagrees with him.
FilmCritic2006 4 years ago
I agree with Huckabee too, but I don't think we will ever be in a position to save face unless we focus our resources on building the Iraq government and its army rather than having our troops over there.
thejobloshow 4 years ago
That's a job for IRAQ. NOT us. At this point, I believe we have been more than patient with the Iraqi parliament in getting their act together. We freed them from a dictator: Good. We gave them a foundation and years of semi-effective protection: Good. They have the tools, they're on the bike and holding the bar. We've pushed them along far enough. They're either gonna ride or fall of and try again. Not like they never had a democracy before.
OneCitizenSoldier 4 years ago 3
I'll give Huckabee the thumbs up because he actually had the balls to go against Ron Paul on his views without using the word 'terrorist'. All the other candidates wouldn't dare confront him. I'll give Ron Paul the thumbs up because he believes the rest of his part is going down the wrong path and he has the balls to stand up to them.
This is the only actually thing I could call a debate in the whole thing, the rest was just Q&A...
TantrooM 4 years ago 10
We have to win in iraq so those that have died will not have died in vain. A secure Iraq will also make us safer here in the US. Personally, i would rather have the war over there than over here, and have our civilians being brought into more danger. Lets not forget 911 because we invite agression from our enemies if we do not fight back
prestonearlgriffith 4 years ago
I will say this about Ron Paul-at least he is saying what he really thinks, most of these guys are giving these sort of programmed responses. BTW I liked McCain the best during this debate.
WestVirginiaRebel 4 years ago 13
This was the best part of the night. The rest was pretty boring. Even though I respect Ron Paul, Mike Huckabee hit the nail on the head, and made Mr. Paul look a bit foolish. Both dark horses are interesting to watch. Why isn't Huckabee doing better than Rudy, McCain and Romney?
ecconights 4 years ago
Censorship? Stop downvoting all the pro-Huckabee comments, Ron Paul fans. Paul got whupped. He got whupped BADLY.
kafeithekeaton 4 years ago
That, of course, is a matter of opinion. I'm not necessarily "for" Ron Paul at this point, I'm doing my research. But in this exchange, I have to say that Dr Paul makes much more sense than Huckabee. Huckabee simply appealed to EMOTION. Dr Paul is talking through REASON and the rule of LAW. Big difference. We don't need another popularist president, we need a moral and ethical one who will serve the PEOPLE and no other.
OneCitizenSoldier 4 years ago 7
onecitizensoldier- ron paul was talking through HINDSIGHT where anyone can sound REALLY SMART becaue it doesnt require any PROBLEM SOLVING
jws04f 4 years ago 6
And, my downvote point was proven. Stop censoring, paul fans.
Paul isn't looking at the whole deal, as shown on O'Reilly tonight. He doesn't know what he's talking about and his liberatarian views of it all were unrealistic. Huckabee provided the argument that we shouldn't just back out because we made a mistake or two, because if we do there will be consequences.
kafeithekeaton 4 years ago
Yeah, and Huckabee's foreign policy boils down to "You break it, you own it." That's deep.
jx14aby 4 years ago 3
Colin Powell said the same thing.
HuckabeeForPresident 4 years ago
I know Mike Huckabee personally and have worked for him. Mike Huckabee IS a MORAL and ETHICAL man and wants nothing more than to serve the people morally and ethically and has done so as Governor of Arkansas and and would continue to so as President. GO MIKE O8

"How many more do you wanna lose"? Does Ron Paul actually think Huckabee WANTS to lose any? Stupid question.
csbaker1 4 years ago
Mike did a great job in the debates as well as putting Ron Paul in his place.
I'm not sure whats wrong with Mr.Paul, but he comes across as very very weird and kooky.
oOPepsiLoverOo 4 years ago
How exactly is it that a man comes across as "kooky" for advocating, in the office of the President, that we should return to the rule of LAW? I mean REAL law grounded in the authority of the PEOPLE? Not some made up law like, oh, EVERYTHING that has to do with Executive Orders. There is NO such power given to the office of the President in the US Constitution. Who did you want to call "kooky" again?
