The cat hoarder who is to blame for this should be arrested for animal cruelty and then all the cats could at least be captured and sterilized. (and removed) I'm sure they are not all licensed either so isn't that also breaking the law?
Would you believe that there already WAS a raid (apprx. 3 yrs ago) at which time 30 cats were seized along with 2 aquariums filled with rodents (piled atop one another). It went to court and the mother's lawyer won claiming that the cats don't belong to them... that they're just FEEDING them! Augh!
I have neighbors who are allowing their cats to reproduce indiscriminately and here in West Hollywood I can no longer find a free rescue or spay to help. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks for sharing this with me Rhae. Being a big cat lover and a lover of all animals, it was heartbreaking to see. Wow, that figure is staggering - 20,736 cats from one female cat and her offspring in one year! That shows you how serious the problem is. You did a beautiful job with getting this message across. Wonderful blending of music, text and images. You captured our attention. Even the clapping at the end was perfect!
Hard to watch, but so important to make people aware of the problem. I was raised by a mom who always took in strays and tried to help. The most important thing she taught us after kindness was responsibility. Spaying and neutering pets was a given in our family, and still is.
Fine job on the video and thanx again for all you do. HUGZ
People need to see this video so they realize what do rescue people deal with every day. I will post it on my facebook, and I hope it will get a lot of people involved.
If you need volunteers to help out with any rescue project, please let me know.
Very important, and needs to be out there. Some people mean well, but don't understand the common sense of neutering. They need to be "trained," and more people need to join the "Force" to eradicate this kind of suffering.
I intended to state, "local law enforcement & public shelters deal mostly with 'eradicating' the nuisance..."
Apparently, a search warrant was served @ the property over 1 yr. ago. Sadly, cats were removed & were probably destroyed - since no rescue organizations were called in. This has not addressed the problem, as evident in the footage. The suffering continues...
Wow! For a first attempt at making a video, I am seriously impressed! The footage and the music perfectly capture the mood and intent and draw our attention to the problem of animal over-population and the need for TNR.
YES, I'm going to hear him speak this month! ;)

Nathan Winograd discusses why euthanasia is not the answer to this problem. Spay/neuter/trap /return wins out...

But I know it takes a lot of money. Have you had any large fund raisers, like silent auctions with a dinner?
