Open the phone to reveal qwerty keyboard and hold left shift, spacebar and backspace, then press and hold power button.

I had exactly the same problem thought it was knackered and was almost screaming at Vodafone... but this fixed it for me... what a relief!

this is an easy fix,i bricked mine after unbranding and updating

firmware.Open the phone to reveal qwerty keyboard and hold left shift, spacebar and backspace, then press and hold power button.

I brought it to a NSC, the guy was really friendly and fixed it, even with the changed phone-code.

I doubt that this will work, but try and use the old hard reset code, I mean there's a "keypad" for the N97.

Try pressing E (3) J (*) and the call key, you have nothing to lose.

hmm ? thats weird maybe its defected from the manufacture. but just wondering i entered the software update on my n97 and it said i got the latest update.

Once I updated, my facebook and weather widgets do not load on home screen. Updated again. WTF! Nokia sucks ass. Have you seen their pathetic ovi store? This is considered a "facebook" phone, yet you cant even find the most popular app on their store if you remove it from your phone. Where is the god damn myspace widget? FAIL.
