  • Nice vid. Thanks for posting.

  • tearing up some strings

  • Comment removed

  • @FatherTimeST1300 Not only does have the greatest voice ever, in my opinion, she is one the hottest ever.

  • ...this is back when they used to allow Ron Block to play banjo.

  • HAHA!!! hes good at writing songs though

  • @notbendable I wonder why the camera man didn't pan over to him during the banjo break?

  • Jerry Douglas is the fiddling, Mark O'Conner of the resinator guitar! AK & US are far & away at the top of their profession, w/o peer!

Thanks for the post & keep 'em comin'.

  • Complete impeccable musicianship!!! It doesn't get any better than this.

  • Great sound, but the video quality is pretty poor.

    I love Union Station!

  • Alison is great and jerry Douglas is the best ever dobrd player

  • I like the fact that Dan took a lead on the guitar he usally dont many song he just plays rythem.

  • i think im in love with her hehe

  • It´s just scaring to hear this wonderful music and to read the news of that day underline.

  • man robinhood48 i was just going to make a comment on that--i'm so glad that others thought the same way.

    that was a horrible time.

  • I love Dan, but it just isn't the same without Tony Rice.

  • Tony Rice was in Union Station????

  • he recorded it with them

  • The pizza tapes are wonderful

  • Quack Quack Imus Rules Quack Quack !

  • Could have been a skater but decided to sing. How lucky we are. She's the greatest!!

  • Alison was gonna be a skater? Cool. I didn't know that.

  • she is a perfect picture of how doing what you love, brings you pure happiness...not too much fame, enough money, and a lot of humbleness. More proof, God had a plan. God bless her, and everyone that surrounds her. Amazing, and always humble. Who could ask 4 more?

  • hi there,

In morocco where I live, noone seems to know much of alison krauss but me!!!

    lol, I love her!!!!!

    see ya folks

  • i am an austrian. never heard of alison krauss, till i watched her support shania twain performing 'coat of many colours'

i've found many songs i like, got to know Gillian Welch as well and enjoy blue grass music :)

  • In Hungary nobody knows her.

  • Hey Leirix61, make that two austrians! If you want me and my band hear perform Krauss, Welch and Shania songs, pn me!

  • She is using the fiddle as a percussion instrument. You can't even make that tight sound with a snare drum.

  • Song is "Sawing On the Strings". Will put on my Alison playlist

  • ridiculously good.

  • You really can't see or hear just how wondeful she is until you check her out in a concert, and she really wales on her fiddle. But you also have to give the musical talent of the band as a whole,i've worked with alot of bands and i wish she was one of them.

  • Alison is great, but what about Dan Timinsky, Ron Block, Jerry Douglas and the others? I think we often forget people who are in "background", who actually make the music happen. What would Flatt&Scruggs be without Foggy mountain boys or Bill Monroe without Bluegrass boys, Ricky Skaggs without Kentucky thunder? ;)

About her nose job, why not? If she wants to look good, I have no objection. :p

  • No doubt. But Those boys got enough talent and class just to enjoy the music they make and ride out the wake of such great front person as Alison.Still, I will give you the ol' who-hoo and raise two hands to the talent of Union Station. They certainly deserve their dues.

  • If angels can sing, they must sound something like that.

  • You just want to knock her on the head and drag her to your cave.

  • Heh, she got a good nose job.

  • There are a group in Hungary the Nox, which group's music origins from the Hungarian folk music and a little known in the world. It would be interesting, if the Nox (I like them also) and the Union Station and Alison Krauss were together in a concert.

  • I do not understand why, but here in Hungary nobody knows Alison Krauss and the Union station. (She is very nice, you are right.)

I did poll among my aquintances, friends and collegues and nobody knows them.

I very glad for discovering them!!!

  • She becomes more and more beautiful.

  • God, she is so beautiful.

  • WHAT SONG IS THAT

  • Live on the IMUS show - 4/3/07 performing Sawing on the Strings from her new album A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection.

  • WHAT SONG IS THAT PLEAZ RESPOND

  • sawing on the strings.

  • Alison bowls me over every time , i love her to bits

  • Oh man.

    I think this means I li8ke Bluegrass.

    :)

    very nice!

  • HAHAHAHAHA. YUP! Bluegrass is really fun- and once you realize how sometimes a bunch of the instruments can come from homemade things, it just makes it cooler. Makes you wanna sit on somebody´s porch and drink some iced tea and just chillax.

  • Alison Krauss- NOT a nappy headed hoe!!! More an angle sent from the Heavens above to grace us with her blissful music, and delightful charm, and grace.

  • i'm gonna marry her no joke

  • she's amazing!

  • @jloverb One of the greatest musicans of time.

  • check out the great Jerry douglas playing the dobro.. the banjo player aint to shabby either this is real american music indeed..Alison just released an album with the legandary led zep front man Robert Plant.. she can do it all for sure...

  • I'm checking out all her videos that have been uploaded. I not a big fan of bluegrass but that voice of hers really pulls you in.

  • She is my favorites. She can do it all!

  • can't find anybetter.....she's great....love her

  • whats the name of this song? Does anyone have the sheetmusic for it?

  • sawing on the strings is the name of it, if you would read the song info you would know that man.

  • yeah sorry did it right after i put it up. my computer wouldnt let me pull up the info.

  • didnt mean to make that sound so bad, sorry m8. just pointing that out.

  • Who's the idiot in the hat?

  • don imus. you know, the "nappy headed ho" guy.

  • That's Allison Krauss. I didn't know she could play the fiddle! No offense, but the virsion on her CD. She looks like something's bothering her!

  • The first time I ever heard of her was when she was a little girl and she would win fiddle playing contests all over the country. She couldn't have been more than like 8! She is a fiddle playing marvel with a voice of an angel.

  • im soooo jealous...where did you hear her at?

  • probably don imus..no really, she always looks like that, but shes got an awesome sense of humor

  • I like that pretty little thing sawing on that fiddle, dang shes good, pure talent, Greatest voice ive ever heard and she can get down on that fiddle.

  • we are having Alison ideas, alison on the mind........close your eyes, listen to her sing and paint pics of the singer in your mind

  • Her new album is a duet with Robert Plant. I was skeptical, but it is amazing!

  • she's a hell of a good singer. not many can match her clarity and power the way she shows it. and her chops on the fiddle isnt bad either.

  • Alison Krauss = my musical inspiration I love her !!! and some more but she is really good

  • Sensational!!

As good of a singer as Alison is, I'm partial to her fiddlin' skills. In her early days, she did a lot more fiddlin'. Good to see Alison occasionally showcase her fiddlin' roots.

    Rock

  • Any thing she does is ok with me. lol

  • Did anyone notice the date on this, it was the day before the infamous "nappy headed ho" comment by Don Imus. So if they book this appearance a few days later it would have never happened.

  • hi Hogefan, thanks for the help, hope you will enjoy the show. see ya

  • hi there, i would like to know the name of the song please

  • Song is called Sawing on the Strings. I got to see her in concert at the Greek in Berkeley and she was phenominal. Funnier than hell, and an awesome entertainer.

  • beauty, charm, nice voice, a good fiddler. lucky ois her man.

  • the tune is perfect, the band is perfect, the atmosphere is perfect. Please, I'm begging you let us enjoy videos like these on youtube

  • authentic music by authentic american people. Please iam not racist.

  • nice song.

and the news message in the bottom of the screen reminds me again of the tsunami in Asia years ago.

  • nice song.

and the news message in the bottom of the screen reminds me again of the tsunami in Asia years ago.

  • This arrangement is similar to that on David Grisman's Rounder record (released around 1978?) which featured Jerry Douglas, Vassar, Tony Rice, and the usual suspects. It's was an arrangement that's well worth repeating and it's great to have it here. Thanks for presenting it. If Imus could use his pull to present this, it's too bad he blew his gig.

  • I gotta learn how to clog.

  • Alison Krauss Queen of Bluegrass, she Rocks when others Roll and sings when others shout. Love and gratitude that I should be alive at the same time as her. She is a WOMAN, nought said.

  • Allison is a Fox!!

  • Allison is a Fox!!

  • if i die and go to heaven i hope that they play alison krauss there

  • she is the best

  • That's just madness allowing that news ticker alright, I didn't even notice it the first time I watched it. Can we not have 3 mins of wonderful talent on its own?

  • There's something disturbing and profound about watching the band perform this fun, innocently joyful song, which I love, with MSNBC's news ticker creeping along on the bottom telling of death and destruction. If only the world were more like the song.

  • Great Video. Every time I hear the name, I think of the other Allison Krause though.

  • I cannot get enough of Alison and this band, just the greatest.

  • Funtastic, I got Alison's Album "A Hundred Miles Or More" this week and doggone it, I just love this track! Eeeeeyaaaah!

  • I watched this when it came on MSNBC....she continues to amaze me and will always be a musical hero of mine. =)

  • alison krauss i love you

  • Can you believe someone divorced her? am hoping it was his problem cause she seems a keeper to me

  • There's two sides to every coin. Maybe a busy touring and recording schedule was too much?

  • Hi, I'm from Argentina, and I'm learning english when I finish to learn, I'll get a ticket and I'll fly to purpose her marriage :)

  • You might not think that if you had to live with her.

She may be nice, but who knows... sometimes things ain't what they appear to be.

  • I met her years ago when she was a youngster. she worked in Champaign's music store at 4th and green. My brother-in-law said she was difficult (she was his boss) but most successful people are demanding. She is quite a genius in my humble opinion!
