  • He moves me. How could anyone listen to him and somehow miss the fact that they are in the presence of pure inspiration? He puts every single thoughtcell into everything he does.

  • @sercangolgeci also you are a racist!

  • "Chantilly lace! And a pretty face! You know what I like!" I love it when Tom Waits gets possessed by a rock & roll spirit.

  • Great sax!! Love u Mr Tom

  • sanat evrenseldir. greek türk çatışmalarınızı başka yerde yaşayın.

  • LOOK AT 1:44 ...AFTER THAT A NOISE OCCURED LIKE THUNDER..AND I AM NOT SURE THAT IT WAS THE SAX where the noise came from :D

  • @sercangolgeci meh, actually we dont use instabul cause costantiople is more like a greek world. its like calling the eifel tower, tour d' eifel. its weird

  • Never drive a car when you're dead , remember that !

  • how come this is related to greek? you people have no idea what you're talkin about and it's obnoxious!

  • @dem28914 Turkey is kind of rival to GREECE and Istanbul is the biggest city of Turkey.. maybe they thought that Greeks disliked because he sang about Istanbul..

  • I think it is a reference to the historical difficulties between Greece and Turkey ie istanbul

  • @sercangolgeci i am greek and it looks awesome. whats the problem with the greeks and this?

  • @TheDim360 Istanbul is a turkish city :) turkey and greece were rivals in the past ...I think it is just a simple joke ...otherwise this song has no relation to Greek :)

  • @TheDim360 Very well said! I am sure you have the same sort of nationalist fanatics in your country as well. What sercangolgeci says is rubbish. And to make things clearer, I should say that I'm Turkish.

  • Shame it mutes the solo as Ribot is amazing on Big Time

  • I own this on vhs somewhere! I am sooo in love!!!!!

  • 14 have absolutely no taste!

  • i can't understand any word of it. but it must be about telephone call from istanbul

  • FRIK love Tom Waits!

  • Whats the song he's singing??

  • @FunnyFunTimes It's temptation.

  • Tom Waits is one of my musical heroes. He has an amazing voice, a killer sense for evocative productions, and amazing songwriting skills. His songs are gruffly affecting or just plain scary. And I have 99% of everything he's ever done! He's got SOUL! And the music of a man struggling with his soul can't help but be beautiful. At least not to me ~ .
  • Love his moves :3

  • the subtelty of tom waits does not solely lie in the deepness of his lyrics, but mostly in the incomprehensible way they are put forward in. it seriously takes me 5 intensive listens to even understand one song, by that time you are already on one level with the guy.

  • This is my all time favorite recording of his, I want this so bad, it was a VHS right or just an album?

  • @SombreroJack619 An album and a VHS. GET BOTH! :)))))

  • @pantanikola

Found the vhs on pirate bay! It's not for sale anymore so it's not really illegal:)

  • Never drive a car when you're dead

  • @karolecampesine

  • @sanalayi lol

  • Gotta be a rough service bulb in that drop light!

  • @remiller3 Ha, ha!! That was my thought oo when I saw him ;->>

  • Thumbs up if you want to be the tenor player!! :D

  • DOES´T MATTER / NEVER MIND THE LYRICS LOGICAL MEANING WRITTEN FOR THE SONG BUT... THE ART THAT

EXISTS IN THE MUSIC, MR. WAITS VOICE AS MUSICAL INSTRUMENT, ALL THE MUSICIANS INSTRUMENTATION AND THE IMAGES OF HIS INTERPRETATION.

    AND...THIS IS IT !!!

  • GREAT SONG, INSTRUMENTATION AND A, WOW... INTERPRETATION

    OF MR. WAITS.

IT´S A KIND OF SPIRIT UNFINISHED GAME...YOU KNOW, THE MAN PLAYS

WITH HIS IMAGINATION THOUSANDS OF TIMES, LOOKING FOR THE

TRUE IN THE MIIDLE OF THE NIGHT, WITH A CANDLE / LIGHT /FIRE IN HIS HANDS... IN A LOST HOTEL IN THE WORLD !!!!! GREAT EXPERIENCE....ABSOLUTE ABSTRACT ART !!!!!!! LOL !!! MR. WAITS LIVES !!!!!

  • wish there was a video with just the live performance

  • i cant stop watching this video!

  • @MrNeilm327

    YEAH !!! YEAH!!! YEAH!!!

  • "Never trust a man in a blue trench coat, never drive a card when you're dead", those are words to live by.

  • He rocks and rocks and rocks and will rock even after he'll be dead...

  • when he slides down the wall and lights his ciggerette with the card and he attempts to throw the card in the hat....HAHA...classic.

  • Wuthering heights. Come on sweetheart

  • Rolling stone gathers no moss.

Julia is the Queen of hearts.

Never drive a car when an alcoholic driver is on the wrong side of the road.

  • Thank you for this video. I am a great fan of him and especially this film ♥

  • as far as im concerned

    best video on youtube

  • Thank you god of music for Tom.

  • Only Tom Waits could wear silk overalls, Elton John shades and a Cruella Deville ciggarette ans still look 100% badass...long live Sir Waits!

  • Genius.

    One word only.

    Genius.

  • This is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen.

  • It's like stumbling across a watering hole for your soul that makes you simultaneously wonder why you never noticed the desert before and forget it. There aren't enough of them in the world and you'll be hard pressed to find one that runs deeper then Tom Waits.

  • @kippers4u This is one of the best comments I have ever read.

  • C'est la vie...hahah.

    He is so fucking incredible.

  • dang.. maraccas with an hanging extension light. Theatrical genius.

  • Ferocious voice. A little Cab Calloway, a little Louis Prima--and very eerie. Sepulchral even. And yet, I find his voice so compelling...

  • And for the stupid people who claim he screamed into a pillow to get his voice. He never claimed that once. I have the magazine with that specific interview and someone took it completely out of context.

It says, "I was very self-destructive. Drinking and smoking and staying out all night long and it wasn't good for me so I sounded like I had been screaming into a pillow." - Tom Waits

  • guys guys.. this is another version than the one on the Big Time soundtrack.. the guitar and sax is a lot better here.

  • @Greesovith I linkd you to a site that may be of some help. If you don't mind his talking (I know I don't) then it should prove suitable for what you're inquiring about :D

  • does anyone know where i can get this version? its way superior to the version on the album

  • @baltimorejac naaah.. this version is even more wild than the one on Big Time.

  • @Greesovith buy the film off ebay or the soundtrack. this version is on the soundtrack "Big Time". The slower version is on "Frank's Wild Years".

  • had me from when he set the cards on fire.

  • This version is fucking WILD!

  • this is still the best band he ever had behind him

  • motherfuckers DBHEcho, Turkey not muslim country. I've never seen really Turkish muslim.

Have u ever been to Turkey? if, no. shut up!

  • @belablaylock "Turkey is a secular state with no official state religion; the Turkish Constitution provides for freedom of religion and conscience. About 99 percent of the population is registered as Muslim" - Wikipedia. not a muslim country? sure on that one killer?

  • @DBHEcho Almost every new born child is registered as "Muslim" in Turkey. But in reality I don't think that %99 percent of Turkey lives Islam. belablaylock is right, you can live your whole life in Turkey without meeting a real Muslim.
