John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Romans 3:10, 12 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
How do these verses answer your question about Jesus and doing good?
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
According to these verses and many more, do you think you can do enough good to get to Heaven? Let me leave you with this last verse, read Revelation 20:10-15 yourself.
[10] And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
[11] And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
[12] And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
[13] And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
You say that you are kind, forgiving and selfless; I think these are all very good qualities to have. My own view is that, If you believe in Jesus, then your claim will be judged against the truth.
Christ did not fear the Cross, "Take this cup from me", for the Son of God it was terrible yes but the true pain was the loss of his beloved father. Is there anything more painful then a child being abandoned? He did not cry out why must I go through this pain he cried out "My God My God why has tho forsaken me!" He lost the love of his own father for us. The crucifixion was a physical representation of Jesus' spiritual pain. The event is sad but also glorious.
Jesus said: "The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord" Mt10:24
Being our Lord, Jesus has authority to put us thru a difficult test or ask us for a sacrifice. There have been Christians in the past who were martyred painfully, but most Christians are not put thru such a test. God doesn't ask much of us, yet most Christians DO NOT fulfill basic duty to Christ - preaching the gospel about Jesus. They make up excuses for not evangelizing and only hang out at church.
I'm with you 100%. A very sad reality of our 'modern' Christianity. Certainly a perfect picture of the Laodicean church. But we have a perfect time to live, when many are not. Perhaps more rewards.. But to only be able to bow at the feet of my Master, Jesus Christ and hear, "Well done, my good and faithful servant". That will be worth it all.
Lift up your heads, your redemption is drawing near!
Jesus said "But will there be faith in the world when I return?" He was not talking about, "there's a God, Yay, God this, God that" He was talking about WILL THERE BE LOYALTY?
I agree. There will always be someone who can believe, if we bring the Gospel to them. But Jesus saying that when He comes back, He will find few Christians actually serving Him and living by faith. I think we can see that is evident in America today. In other countries it is different.
we are in the endtimes soon. we must band together. we must continue in prayer, worship, and fellowship to our Lord Jesus. contact me. plans are being made and people are working fervently toward the goal of preparation.
Lord, forgive me for all of my sins that I have commited. Even though I have not done the things that I amd not supposed to do. But You are the Son of God that saved me from all of my sins. I thank you for everything that You have done for me and everyone in this world. I will try to worship You for the rest of my life and save the my family and friends and people that i even dont know forgive them for their sins. amen
The description of the pain makes perfect sense when you're talking about someone who isn't taking on the sins of the world. One theologian said it correctly when he said "Jesus probably didn't even notice the nails when he was suffering the penalty of all the sins of the elect."
Lord, forgive me for all of my sins that I have commited. Even though I have not done the things that I amd not supposed to do. But You are the Son of God that saved me from all of my sins. I thank you for everything that You have done for me and everyone in this world. I will try to worship You for the rest of my life. Amen.
Praise and thank the Lord for what He did for us on the cross of Calvary. Who are we that the King of kings and Lord of lords should bleed and die for? That the Son of God would leave His Father's throne and die for sinful man? Praise God.
Yes, if you go to chick dot com then look on the left near the middle of the menu you'll see DVD. Click there and select Evangelism from the menu that pops up. Then from there scroll down and select Light of the World. Near the bottom is a link to the article, "Meet the Artist". It tells about the 15 years it took to paint the 360 paintings used.
If i don't belive in Jesus, yet i live a good life. Am kind, forgiving and selfless will i go to hell still?
Or does god have self esteem issues?
