I grew up in China and now I'm American. If you don't think "freedom of speech" is important, try living in China. You can see how restricted it is and all the propaganda. PRC blames censorship on porn, but I can tell you that Chinese guys are just as horny as any other guys, so it's really to keep people from seeing world views on China's policies regarding ongoing sensitive political issues. Congratulations to Google for doing the right thing rather than bowing down for censorship crap.

The sites that would undermine security or allow sedition broadcasting such as terrorists to recruit people via the cyberspace (Al-Queda, Jihad Jane & the likes) or how to make bombs using mtrl around us or displaying child pornography, or sites that allow copyright violation or many other things that will weaken the security or stability of the place we lived in should be censored/filtered.

China is a growing country, eventually they will give in and deal with the internet.. The main question people in China need ask, why would China decide to censor certain materials, unless they had something to hide?
And yes, the internet is very open and free, and the US government agencies are constantly trying to work every angle to put people away in jail for crimes that don't even exist yet... All us humans develop slowly, and criticizing comes in all forms.

The Chinese import from America as well. Our economy would suffer if they stopped buying from us. Future predictions indicate that China will become America's number 1 import of products in the next 20 years. This will account for 7-10 percent of our economy. I don't think we should stop buying from the Chinese, because we depend on them now, and we will depend on them in the future. We are globalized.
