First heard this in my senior year of high school on a college station out of Detroit (Wayne State University). It was the first time I'd ever heard dub and it was incredible, loved it right off. I remember the djs talking about how some recordings were done in vacant lots to get the heavy long echoes before mixing. Early Aswad, fantastic stuff.
i was born in 76 and id like to think that aswad made this album form me( LOL ),this is one of the best albums ever made.a true gem of a album by a gem of a band, pure genious, such a fresh sound and will always stand the test of time.
Hi! It say Adekotumba Illorin on the album cover as being the acoustic player on this track (I have this on cd, my bro in law had it on vinyl years back) is Maurice his 'real' name?
I got into Aswad from the excellent film Babylon so this is what i thought all their music sounded like! it's a shame about their pop stuff but i wasn't there - I'm sure they were doing good things getting reggae music into everyone's ears :D
Cor, that's some very nice dubby stuff indeed. Very different to the charting Aswad I remember from the 80s. Didn't realise they went all the way back to '76. Nice one.
