The music industry had already been way ahead which is where this comes from basically. The PC was behind the rest though. The Commodore 64 basically used the same style music that the Adlib provided back in 1985 when the IBM still had a PC speaker (C64 used ADSL style wave forms, exactly the same thing Adlib had years later). The Amiga has sound blaster 16 style sound samples, effects, stereo etc.. when it first came out in 85, FAR ahead of the rest.
