Survival is actually turning out to be a really good raid spec especial for starting out because of all the boosts. I just switched my alt hunter from BM to survival and saw an almost a 500AP increase.

I love being survival now with the new patch.

I actually do 300 more dps than I did before the patch as Marksman. I pull about 5.3k-5.5k dps on Patchwerk, and the rotation is much more fun, seeing as we only wait 6 seconds on a CD instead of 10 for Chimera.

I sit at 1430 agility unbuffed as survival, and for those of you who say you "can't kill a mob," you're a fucking retard and need to quit the game.

probably cuz survival is NOT for mobs, its for raid dps right now instead of BM cuz its nerfed! though BM is still best spec if ur farming on mobs, its is easiest to level and easiest to farm leather and such, do not spec survival unless ur main intention is to raid 25 mans or so. so go back to BM especially as a leveler

Actaully it doesn't I have always been survival, and I can tell you for a fact.. that it is now the best of the three when it comes to DPS, there are 3 tests on the internet...all show the new order is SM, BM, MM but that being said blizz did a great job, they are all really close, so there is no black sheep anymore. They are all viable. Do a google search... you'll see (by the way, I am referring to post-3.0.3 )

In raids... its close...but yeah...the MM's and BM's have just one advantage that comes to mind... i have to be careful when using explosive shot, as it can break CC, but I don't like raids as much as I do BG's and Arena, and thats what survival is ALL ABOUT (since patch 3.0.3

Thats only because of two possible reasons:

1. You play with a tard rogue that dont let you include pets on dmg/dps meters

2. You group/guild BM hunters suck so much it can cause blindness.

Solution: Make your guild master kick every BM hunter that lost on a dps meter to a Marks/survival hunter, and type: /spit while targeting their character.

All specs are good but Beast Mastery is the most used because it's probably the easiest one to play. I have a Survival Hunter atm at lvl 55 and the AoE farming pwns, Thunderstomp (gorilla) holds alot of aggro. Explosive Trap and Volley ftw. Can take more than 10 mobs at once.

No idiot, Bm is most used because its best pve dps spec (if specced correctly ofc)., Its best long-term sustained dps spec. That means your dps wont deviate so much like it does at marks and survival, and it will be closely the same during the encounter (ofc if you know how to play it) Sure you get big crits with marks and survival first couple of shots, then you loose your mana, wank of your dick, and watch a bm hunter owning you in dps while slaping his pet bitch and waving you. now l2play

last night i did BT as a survival hunter and hunting party gave me unlimited mana no joke, i never went below 8k mana at any time and keeping 1250 dps in t4/badge gear. raid buffed 8518 mana btw

The specc with the most DPS is MM for lvl 80 and 70, basically it's the best. As for SV being the new BM, it really isn't and there were ALOT of hunters being SV before the patch because it was needed in raids, huge dps boost to other hunters and melee's.

As i have seen in the current live patch, BM is a spec for those who are just starting to raid and do not have the stats needed to support the other two specs, if you have the agi to support it i would go survival, i have gear sets for MM and Survival, and survival has proven to be just as much ( if not more) dps, with more mana utility.

Well I was a BM hunter before the patch, I just re-gemed some hit to some crit/AP when the patch came. I still have the badge bow since my guild is unlucky when it comes to drops of bows but anyway, so basically the only thing I have done to change my gear into more MMish is to re-gem to loose some hi, it's not much.

correction on my last post, just looked at the talentry this morning, Expose Weakness: nolonger effects the target but is a buff to the hunter therefor causeing only the hunter to gain the bonus attack power
