  • I have no idea what the point (if any) was, but I LOVED this video collage more than any I've ever heard on YT... w00t!

  • 3) I was one of the people duped by the 45 version of "Here I Go Again". I ended up acquiring the LP just to get the more familiar version.

    4) Love the pic sleeve for "Mexican Radio"!!

    5) I agree with shawn0612... the 12" of "Dance Hall Days" is outstanding.

  • A couple of things to add:

    1) Chaka Khan was scheduled to do backing vocals on Robert Palmer's "Addicted To Love"...she told the record company to "stuff it, I ain't doing back-up". Then, when it hit #1, she regretted not taking part. Winwood comes along, offers her back-up vocals for "Higher Love", and she jumps at it!!

    2) White Lion's biggest hit was "When The Children Cry", peaking at #3.

  • @Bigstud19 ineresting stuff right there about Chaka. I didn't know that. I heard it was her label. Either way: When the Children Cry may have gone the highest on the charts but that doesn't make it their biggest hit. That song is awful.

  • @funktuall I wouldn't say it was awful...it was definately a different sound than most of their other songs....but if you use that as criteria....you could say the same about "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" by Poison, or , dare I say it, "Only Women Bleed", "You And Me", or "I Never Cry" by Alice Cooper.

  • @Bigstud19 It wasn't just awful because it was a ballad, many power ballads were fun but his voice should just never sing like that. That is exactly why you never hear it anymore.

  • @funktuall Good point!!

  • 9'55 - the original sample of eric prydz call on me!

  • I love Wang Chung's soundtrack To Live in and Die in L.A.

Kim Wilde started presenting gardening tv shows on the BBC a few years ago.

Higher Love is used perfectly in Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

  • hey funtual---do some more shit like this----this is really very good !! thanks man

  • LOL, I always used to sing "Watley, Jody Watley" (ala Dont You Want Me)

  • BTW, I was pissed too when I bought Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again" on 45 and discovered that it was different than the LP version used in the video.

  • Hey funktuall, Lindsey Buckingham's "Holiday Road" is available on a 45. Because it was only a minor hit (peaked at #82 in August 1983) the 45 is very hard to come by. After lots of searching I managed to find two copies of the single. The first was a Dutch import on Mercury Records issued with a picture sleeve. Also the US 45 on Warner Bros which is even harder to find. They do pop up on eBay every now and then.

  • Sweet poem. I enjoyed it.

  • Watley was the bomb! Wang Chung, Waite, Whitesnake ( I hate that "remix" version by the way lol), Daltrey, Winwood...OMG ...WILL SOMEONE PLEASE INVENT TIME TRAVEL SO WE CAN GO BACK TO THE 80's.

The 80's!! The good old days when music was about having fun!

    Thanks for sharing!!!

  • OH MY GOD! I definitely did the same thing! Jody...Jody Watley. I really think the B-side should have been that.

  • You are absolutely NOT the only one to sing Jody's name over the "Don't You Want Me Chorus". I did then, and still do now (in my head)

Also, "Dance Hall Days" rocks man. The 12" version is outstanding.

  • I never knew that was Chaka Khan toward the end of Higher Love... what a voice on her.

  • Peep the video, she's in it!

  • man FUNKTUALL , is there something you dont have? pretty amazing!

  • Jody Watley produced by Andrea Cymone who was Prince friend and former bassist and Jody's little sister was also a porn star. Andrea also has a couple of r&b hits Kelly's Eyes,What are we doing here, and the Prince produced Dance Elecetric. Wow I didn't know Chaka sang background on Steve Winwood Higher Love.....wow thanks Funk learned something again

  • love the poem, extra cool points for mexican radio. and Eric b & Rakim???? I thought I knew it all!!!

  • YES U R!!!!!

    LMAO!!!!

  • Jody Watley and Rakim?

  • Jody Watley was one of the most under-rated artist in the 80's.
