I saw the idea of Draw Mohammed Day as a way of putting two fingers up at those who issue death threats, but -not surprisingly- it's been hijacked by zealots, racists and xenophobes and with TFoots quote-mining, Condellesque videos to support it it's become ""Try and piss off Muslims day" instead.
People died over these cartoons and you do not think this is not worth standing up for? I mean seriously Muslim's have no right not to be offended. I think it is a worthwhile cause myself in defence of enlightened values against bigotry. I hate this word self-censorship orwellian in the extreme. I never heard you or coughlan once say a thing against Thunderfoot when he was ripping on Christians why then do you care when it is islam. Islam is not a race it is a belief. Get real!
@29harveydinio Yes, muslims aren't above criticism, but they are entitled to express their disdain. Free speech for all.
When tf00t began criticising religion he used science. I was all for that. When he started his 'Bible for beginners' thing I mocked him with a parody video. He misrepresented a sizeable chunk of christians with his sweeping generalisations. He's doing the same with islam now, and with a lot more vitriol. He himself has become a bigoted zealot.
@OminousVoice1 I completely disagree with you on this issue.Pakistan is promoting censorship not thunderfoot.Your blaming the reaction to censorship as promoting censorship is twisted logic.Muslim's are diverse,so why should we treat them like children and not rip on muhammed.A crucifix was put in piss for art and nothing happend, but draw muhammed and people died. While we are at it lets say how bad ayaan hirsi ali is for offending muslims.Let's show proper respect for their pedo prophet.
@29harveydinio I couldn't give a shit about muhammad. It's not the point. The point is that ALL muslims are getting the flak for this when only a handful deserve it.
I was going to make a video about Pakistan banning Facebook and YouTube. I was actually quite disappointed in TF's latest video where he was basically cheering about this. Not that I have been happy about any of his videos as of late though... MY impression was "WTF!? How can you be happy about this?" All of these people have now been denied access to the very mediums that open their eyes to different views.
I see what you and coughlan are saying. "Don't be a prick, not all muslims are violent hypersentitives, etc." and I do like what people like Dawahfilms are saying,
but you also have to understand where this is coming from.
It's the Streisand effect, it's what happens when people are false flagged. Lars Vilks was killed because he drew a picture, South Park creators were sent death threats, it's not surprising that people responded in such an insulting way.
@dominictemple I understand that people can become very defensive when something they value is threatened, be it a prophet or an ideal. What I'm ultimately calling for is for people to consider the consequences before they take action.
Many a shitstorm could've been averted if only those involved understood the repercussions of their impulsiveness.
I got comments on my video saying that I'm kowtowing to Islamic repression because I chose not to draw Mohammad and that I stooped to call him Prophet Mohammad. I think part of practicing our free speech or freedom of expression is the ability to say, "I don't wanna. Can't make me. Nyah!"
"Draw Mohammed" day sounded like such a good idea, but it was taken the wrong way.

@OminousVoice1 So very true. Unfortunately, people aren't good at thinking about possible repercussions when they feel attacked.

@dominictemple Correction Lars Vilks isnt dead. He was attacked yes not killed.
