i listened to symphony x alot as a teen but i've since learned to like other genres and styles. revisiting all my old prog metal, most of it is too obnoxious for me to stomach for too long. regardless of genre or taste though, this is one of those gems, & symphony x one of those bands that has too many good moments in writing to throw into the give away pile. beautiful song, beautifully written
just marvellous. Doesn't matter the kind of music you like; if you find emotion in it, it will rock you. Apart from that, Symphony X are really impressive :))
The lyrics in this song almost seem like they are trying to depict the story of Adam and Eve. These people are in a perfect paradise but when they find out about the seven deadly sins the paradise begins to fall. Love, Pride and desire are all mentioned in the song and are all seven deadly sins. The chorus almost seems like a depiction of god watching down on them and eventually taking away their paradise. A serpent is mentioned in the song as well.
Well i think you guys deserve an explanation on the Jens picture: when I made this vid i had just recently started listening to symphony x, so i looked for pics on the web and i found that one and thought it looked cool, so i left it on the vid without knowing it wasnt a member of symphony x...my apologies for any inconvenience caused guys...
this song doesnt exist!!!! after all these years I couldnt believe that I would add this classic to my best songs list!!! music...emotion...poetry...it has everything.
If there was a "Greatest guitar solos in hisory" list it'd have to be pretty long, because every one of Michael Romeo's solos would have to be in it. But... why'd you cut out the fade prematurely? It kills the mood... also what's Jens Johansson doing there? I mean he is awesome... but also not in the band.
Looking down from ethereal skies
Silent crystalline tears I cry
For all must say their last goodbye -
to Paradise

Just to be pedantic, it's "so I'll savour the downfall of paradise", not "now I'll savour...". ¬_¬

Great song, too bad the album was a disappointment to me after the Odyssey.

@6ArchEnemy6 I also just saw them at the Power of Metal tour in Lyon--best song of the night! Russell Allen really seemed to enjoy the audience too.

Man, I saw them live yesterday at Power of Metal tour, they played this song, too...
The part from 4:50 on was so damn breathtaking.

qué hace Jens Johansson en el 3:10??? Supongo que el que subió el video debe saber que él es de Stratovarius y Michel Pinnella es de Symphony X

To anyone who has read Incarceron here... The lyrics of this song depict the story so well it's actually a little scary...
lovepetrelli 1 year ago
@lovepetrelli I thought the lyrics were about John Milton's Paradise lost? Or am I just being dumb and the Incarceron is the same thing?
