Hahaha I hope the fires burn down all of Texas and their idiotic flag with it...Lone star right? Stand alone and tell Perry NOT to accept federal money to stop the fires. Let all of Texas BURN....Muhahahahahahahahaaha
As an American I think the people that fly them all over the place, do it to say I am an American and if you don't fly a flag you are somehow unAmerican or unpatriotic. I find it distasteful myself seeing as how if you live in America you are clearly an American. You will also find more flags the further into rural areas you go and the deeper into "Bible Country" you get also. Somehow the people here tend to equate being a Christian with being an American. Nice shirt.
You think it's weird because wave around a lot of flags maybe because we love it where we live. Who gives a fuck what a bald british Ginger has to say about the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Seriously talk about something interesting like, why British people have to drink tea
There are as many reasons for flying a flag in America as there are different people. I have an American flag and a flag holder attached to my house. I can't say I fly it every day but on certain days I certainly may. In many ways flying the flag on certain says is akin to decorating a Christmas tree. It's just something you do in remembrance of our veterans or independence.
It's the same here in Spain, usually older people who went through Franco's period are very patriotic and flag-bearing, other than that, flag bearing isn't popular... but, I think it's good to have an equilibrium in nationalism.
and about the flags... I think that you don't need to be showing your flag 24/7 to be patriotic, you can still be/feel proud of your nation without symbolism.
@Horathgar42 so the mention of god is breaking the Law? where do you think our laws came from in the first place? where do you think womens rights came from? How about anti slavery Laws?
If God doesnt exist then frankly right and wrong dont exist and morality only comes from society. So either way your full of bullshit.
If I make my own morality then why cant the Government have theirs?
@Gaaminator As a school function is it. In a prayer group, its not. There is a difference one is manditory for the masses the other isn't. Womens rights and slavery are in the bible, freedom came in direct opposition to the bible.
Morality exists well outside of the bible. The government does have morality in place, the are called Laws. (Some of them do bear resemblance to the laws of religion not saying religion is ALL bad. Just dogmatically following it without thinking is.)
@Gaaminator I think i'm being too draconian about my views here. I'd just like to see it where in school evangelizing is at least toned down, and i'm sure other people have the opposite view.
:sighs: You Brits don't understand the suicide you're committing. National Pride is EXTREMELY important. The reason why Great Brittian has allowed so many people from islamic countries to come in all at once without giving them a chance to assimulate and has Sharia law operating in 80 different places is BECAUSE there is no national pride anymore. You guys barely picket or say anything when something bothers you. You guys just lay there & it's because you have no pride in your history.
Thank you for your non-judgmental question. I'm a native Texan, but I really can't answer your question, although I understand why you asked it. It seems to be a cultural phenomenon in this country, and there is probably no further explanation available.
Because USA thinks that their better than everybody else and their not.I live in America and i dont think that its all that great at all,we got to many patriotic idiots, bible thumping idiots and dumb ignorant rednecks too. That make a big deal out of nothing.People in this country need to grow up and behave them selfs.Quit acting like a bunch of retards. In other countries people do not behave like this.
ive been to many nieghborhoods in tx that don't have us or tx flags. those are good questions. i don't throw flags in ppl's faces. read the fine print. lol. i luv ur voice.
It's no secret, pride is an issue in this country. Usually there's also the stereotype here that if you're patriotic, you must also be a neo-con religious republican. It's very hard to be both proud of this country and a liberal if you live here. =/
Nice analysis, i've been to australia. Its actually the white bogans who carry the flag around with pride other than that nobody really give a flying fock about the flag. Its pathetic.
every country has its traits that make it unique and different than other countries...america is an overall emotional country not an intellectual one or one that values intellect....its very emotional and in many ways working class overall and its very religious your not the first person to ask me why there are os many churches here...(Our founders were not religious but the people have allways been) we are very emotional and subjective and we by far take the cake as far as being very secular..
Sounds just like Canada. When I went to America there were many, many american flags, and much more outside each door. I suppose that the war has a lot to do with it though.
@Marriyay it depends where people live in america few states don't really put out american flages outside of their houses or buildings it's too patriotic
because we like our flags we are a diffent country its what we do to set our selves apart from other nations i cant help it if stupid texens ruin it for every one.........AND OUR FLAG IS THE KOOLIST LOOKING :) HEHE U.S.A. #1
@spikeyheaddrunkpunk dude stfu texas is better then all of the other states so suck on my balls and while ure at it finger ureself in the butthole. thx
nnocturne, I agree with your video. i lived in London for 2 years and I have no answer about the need to "throw flags in others faces" I think this is a phenomenon reserved for morons. Texans are more notable in this behavior. I personally admire the way of life in France and London.
I am proud of my country. Even as despicable a man our president may be, I'm proud that we've been able to elect a black man to office (Obviously, my aversion to him is NOT based on race) but I can still be called jingoistic, at times.
It might not be easy to understand, given my own patriotic pride, but I encourage you to also take boastful pride in your nation. Surely you wouldn't tell me to "fuck off" in that case. Each of us has our identity, and we should never hide that, discretion or no.
Rome has many churches. lull. CHURCH ROCKS. Go religion. Otherwise how can one find their personal Higher Power? Oh, yeah, through spirituality. silly dogma
@ChuteSpades Ya churches ROCKS!... because when they go bankrupt you can buy them and have a HUUUGE house to live in :3 *knows from personal experience*
@Dasmaster1 Like in the movie XXX Where they go bowling and instead of pin or an alley, they just hurl rocks into vases and busts and tings a dat sort. When are gonna need a church sitter?
I think it's because many United States citizens love their country and I really don't see why anybody would have a problem with that.
I could also ask the same question to anybody who feels the need to express their opinion to the world by using a symbol to represent it. Why do you feel the need to wear that shirt with that particular design? Why do you feel the need to express that?
I was born and live in Texas and I'm not one of those hardcore patriots who sings the star spangel banner everyday but I will say that we like to wave our flags especially in Texas purely because were just proud to be america and
I live in turkey, and im quite sure this country has the highest concentration of flags being waved. There are large flagpoles with gargantuan flags in ordinary places like round-abouts. An unusual amount of people hang huge flags out of their windows, and sometimes you can barely even see the walls of some small apartment buildings because they are covered in flags. Often, they also have portraits of ataturk on the flags. Talk about extreme nationalism. This overuse degrades the flags meaning.
I am an American, not by choice. The UK is a really cool place. You make good points and are not annoying like The AA. So with that said I like you. I have never understood the whole flag thing. One thing you should know is that before Sept. 11th, 2001 there were like 90% less flags. Since then we have been choked with them. It's just a strange American custom I guess. No way to explain it but I find it very annoying. Plus most Americans are not that bright.
[cont.] we feel like we've been a part of shaping. So, you know, when we move into a new house, we put up our flag as a thanks to the memory of the veterans in our family who bled so that I could live in a safe, beautiful home with my daughter and not worry about car bombs. I can take her to school where she can learn things, and we won't starve to death because we're a third world. I don't know why all of America flies our flag, but this is why my family does it. Hope that helps. =)
I'm not sure why all of Americans have a 'thing' with our many, many flags. I, personally, come from a family that is washed down in that, I couldn't tell you what all of my roots are- German, Italian, Sioux Nation, Irish, etc, etc. I know we've been here awhile, though, and my father, and my father's father, and his father before him have all fought for our country. So, for my family, having [and flying] the American flag is out of respect, honor, and pride for this country that [cont.]
Brits hold the Monarchy up like a flag as the symbol of your country & that's ok. We fly our U.S. flag and here in Texas our state flag out of pride. Not for anyone in other countries to care about & doesn't need another countrys' permission or accolades. We are better at some things than others just as you Brits. I personally don't care what other countries think of my flag waving, I have 2 on my motorcycle. This has no effect on your life. Pride on ones nation. I hope I answered your question.
You haven't traveled around the United States enough. In my state it's strange to see flags flying. Shows you how different each state is, we are more divided then any foreigners believe. In fact it would not be anymore difficult for me to move to the UK then the East coast of the US.
I found your video interesting, I never knew flags are not flown as they are in the US. We fly our flags proudly because it is a symbol of our freedom. It is a symbol of what we have fought for, died for etc. I guess my question for European countries would be, why not be proud of your country?
everyone from Austin is a hillbillys and spread diseases because they will fuck anyone and all the guys are gay and fuck each other in the ass every girl ive talked to has said "my boyfriend likes it in the ass" THEY R QUEERS!!!!! every girl in AUSTIN IS OBESE!!! dont go there it sucks, dont believe the hype, all of it is perpetuated by the idiots who were born and raised in this cowtown. FUCK AUSTIN.
i dont think its something that you could understand, its something that we do here, especially in texas. its just a sign of pride. i love the place i come from and im proud to display it
i agree with you there bro... our flag is a great thing 2 hang above our heads... im 13 and i have the american flag the texas flag and the rebel flag all in my room...it is my favorite thing in the world...
...of social ill. The human heart will misuse any number of entities or confessions, it is the commonality in abuse and not patriotism or church attendance in and of itself (granted they too can be co-opted but it is lazy to assert them as unique to that distinction).
Fervor can be manipulated for any personality or movement and creating a pan european bureaucracy will not be europe's salvation nor spare it of strife.
Europe misdiagnosed the cause of war and blamed it on flags and god.
Nationalism became anathema to the European mindset upon the conclusion of world war 2 as did the church, two things you pointed out as novelty to you.
The establishment scapegoated these two things as the cause of war and thought that minimalizing them would make them conflict free, but all it did was make a nihilisitc society.
Nihilism and materialism fill the void, Europe is no more virtuous from having tried to jettison nationalism and Christianity because they were not the culprits...
northan ireland is really bad for flags i hate it you cant go down a street without being bombarded by irish flags and union jacks its sickening show a lower class of people
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Actually dumbass it means a sign of distress just like they flew it upside down after 9-11 or after pearl harbor was attacked don't try to tell me about my flag because you don't know shit. Another thing is why you getting upset about me loving my country's flag? I have no explanation it's just a fact that upside means a sad day in American history. If you do not live here you do not know how much trouble with debt and foreign problems we are dealing with. It is a time of distress in America.
The nazis loved to fly a lot of flags. Excessive national pride is unhealthy. Its some sort of over-compensation for something. I wasn't really from a flag waving type of family, so I can't really answer those questions.
I have met plenty of English and they love their flags. You a European dumbshit and we love our flags because they mean something just like your people's flags do. Learn the meaning of symbolism and respect. People died for these flags and you have the right to downgrade these flags because of them. Have fun with your rights they died for and rights you haven't died for.
Flags are just pieces of cloth. Every country has them as physical, territorial markers. If you want to say that people have died for their constitution or their freedoms, that makes sense. A piece of cloth is just a symbol. Stars and stripes have nothing to do with democracy. Its just aesthetic. Also, why did you say, "European" Dumbshit? Why not just dumbshit? Why should one's continent of residence have anything to do with their cognitive faculties?
The meaning asigned to flags is very arbitrary. The American flag might signify Jesus and Conservatism to some, where it might represent Free speech and secularism to others. You can assign meaning to anything that's ambiguous enough. With a clear, specific set of human rights, though, its not as easy.
Yes, this is true but I love my country's flag. All the people that died for my country and flag did not die in vain. I am a true patriot and I believe everyone has their own opinion on topics so it's ok for someone to believe somethinng different. Having an opinion is a symbol of freedom.
Your opinions are all weird and screwy. I mean, you're talking about how much you love your flag, but its inverted on your profile. Typically, that's meant to be a dis to America. You probably have some explanation that you think is clever though.
I'm Dutch and when I visited America I found it really strange that they even had gaint American flags in their supermarkets, little American flags in their car etc. We don't have that here in Europe.
Try this on for fascination: Patriotism is fundamental in the success of a group to exist without internal decay or conquest from another group. The Romans were successful much longer than any other group, because they developed patriotism within the countries they conquered. They offered citizenship. Where is Chekoslovakia now?Yugoslavia? They were held together and prospered much better under Soviet rule. No patriotism, though, and now, countries exist that are the size of counties in Texas.
A hint: in history, any group waving a flag of unity won over any group without one. American Indian? No flag. Aztecs? No flag. South Africa? No Flag. The "United" Kingdom was symbolized by the British shooting down some locals and running the Union Jack up in the square and their forts. A conflict isn't called a war if either side doesn't have a flag. It is called an invasion by the ones who do. Now you know why the "United Kingdom" isn't what it was in the past. Your attitude.
I think that really, we mainly have the flag as an object to represent our country, and so some of us can think of the men and women who died fighting for it, even if we are screwed up. It's something we can show pride to, because it's hard to be prideful with the country itself, can't really wave it around.
Another thing is that the flag is a huge deal when it comes to military deaths. A folded flag goes to the family, a flag is draped over the caskets, and you always respect it. I might be
It means different things to different people. Lots of people served in the military and it's often a personal thing. Although not that personal being on ones front lawn. Perhaps better said as one of respect and remembrance for those no longer among them.
As far as there not being so many flags in other countries....What about Flemish flags? There are so many at the Tour de France I have a hard time believe they only fly flags once a year. Flags of Brittany come in a distant second.
I'm English and to me the Union Jack, feels superficial. Personally I don't feel the need to show my pride with a flag; I show my pride in a more discrete fashion by donating to charities, helping those to regain their strength etc. Whereas I feel as though America is an extroverted nation, and that they feel the need to show others of their achievement and their loyalty. Either way both nations are equally in the right to fly their flag and to be proud of their achievements.
I have lived in England and Norway, 3 and 4 years respectively. You are flat out wrong about Norway. While there you will be swamped with Norwegian flags. They are on buildings, on peoples houses, on the food and beauty products in the stores, on the clothing, backpacks, postal stamps, etc. It shows pride in your homeland. As for G.B. my question is, why don't the people there celebrate their homeland by flying a flag? I believe it is from political correctness run amok.
OK please research the history about Texas. Texas went through a lot of shit early in its history because of Mexico and the USA. Texas was a major connection between the North and South. Thats why Texasn are proud because at one point of our history we were "independant" and went through a lot of crap to become part of the USA . Early in history Texas was actually considering to be a country of itsown please research our history. and it doesnt hurt anyone if we have flags everywhere.
I think the thing is, you're country has been around forever flying the same tired flag and honestly, England hasnt done anything worth mentioning on the world stage since what? World War II? So what would you be proud of waving a flag around for? And you know why you dont see a Belgium flag being flown proudly? Same reason, when was the last time Belgium had a reason to display their national Pride? It's because nearly 70 years ago, most of Europe nearly found itself under 1 flag - Germany's.
man, im not even English, or white, and i can see about a MILLION reasons why the English would be proud to fly there flag, they only coloniesed half of the world under the British empire!! lol
but they also dont go around waving a huge flag around and tell everyone how much the U.K is sooo much better then there country or state (like texans)
The short answer is Americans really aren't aware that they have been conditioned (brainwashed) by mass media (TV, etc) to have national pride, to be basically obsessed with sex too. The average american watches 4.5 hours of television per day, so those who don't watch TV are immersed in a society addicted to it to a high degree. Americans really think only what they are told to think.. and this is summarily patriotic propaganda for a profiteering war machine .. plus sex as sales strategy.
I agree with your view on nationalism, it's a shame that people cannot view themselves and others without having to have nationalistic type lables attached to themselves.
America has ONE flag. Its easier to use it as a symbol. For example, in Canada we have our own flag, PLUS the Union Jack, and you see both equally. Its part of pride. You said it about England too, the red and white, and the Union Jack. There's nothing wrong with showing pride for your country's flag(s). I respect the US' sense of pride and unity.
Europeans may not fly their flags all the time, but they are more fanatical when it comes to games such as soccer, and their zealous anti-American ,anti- Isreali ect.
Flying the national flag to Americans is basically, because its fun.
And its a beautiful flag with a vibrant and awe inspiring history.
Americans have this overbearing tendancy to be blunt and loud about their opinions.
And many of them do not see their opinions as opinions. Many see them as a lifestyle and almost a religion. By Raising each generation to believe that America is the Last remaining super power in the world we have pushed a type of belief on our people that makes them truly worship the "freedom" we have. So much so that it strips us of our so called "Freedom"
Spread the word please. Jesus christ what it wrong with you Texas haters? I mean seriously have you been there? You probably see parodies of Texas like this one, Dumb o'll Texas? Wow you must get a lot of influence from Spongebob Squarepants. All states have there flaws. Get over it. Not everybody in Texas are the same idiots, people don't see me running around arrogantly saying "TEXAS RULES F'YALL!".I'm a very intelligent 14 year old too. I know what I'm talking about.
hey vid guy you look like you live in your gandparents basement no life bitch!! your vid bore the hell out of me the first 14 seconds wtf if your not from usa then dont talk about it at all cuz no one wants to hear your bull shit!!! and dude your hair is scareing kids you may want to fix that....
The uk is much more..understanding when it comes to patriotism or religion for that matter. It's personal and discrete, a personnel choice. As it should be.
To answer your question, it's because here, people feel the need to force their beliefs on others, whether it be blind ignorance in patriotism, or religion.
When bush was re-elected, if you didn't agree with him, you were labeled a traitor basically. Time showed those people were correct to doubt him, but it all comes back to arrogance.
And nice lazy eye. The right eyelid droops and the eyeball spins about randomly like the cookies monsters. The spacker look as I like to refer to it as.
Undercut hair style and a pedo beard. Dude its 2008 not 1996 focus ya kiddy touching freak. Oh yeah and your gonna get pulled over for damaged tail lights because the kids you shut in your boot kick them out. Your better off to get a van like other pedos.
I'm from Houston, and we clearly take a liking to our flags. Our theme park is actually called Six Flags over Texas, representing the ruling of FRA, SPN, MEX, Rep. of TX, the C.S.A, and U.S.A. The answer 2 your last 1:30 of questions is Yes. It's a combo of all that. It invokes pride, it's a way of being accepted, and it's 2 the point of being conceited, but I dont think that it can or will harm anyone n the long term. Just my opinion. Youtube only allows so many letters, and I'm out of space.
Excellent video! The problem with many of us Americans (not me), is that so many of us are OVERLY and BLINDLY patriotic. The flag has become an ad nauseum substitute for real, bona fide dissent/change and critical thought, and it has been cheapened by those that fly it often. Sadly, many Americans would rather fly the flag, or even display a flag on their clothing, and make believe we are the best country in the world, as if to try and confirm this through this simple act of personal insecurity.
Frankly, given the recent DNA exoneration of many innocent incarcerated victims in Texas, I agree that Texas sucks. Texas is an embarrassment to the rest of the nation, given this outrageous longtime travesty of justice! It seems like every week or two, for the past few years, we've been hearing of yet another hapless victim of the Texas 'injustice system' being found innocent via DNA! Yet we largely ignore this failing in our elitist media. I hope you Brits take this story and run with it!
Texas is extremely patriotic. Majority of Marines come from Texas. We have a sense of duty to our State and most importantly to our Country. I don't believe that because we fly flags we are any where close to being on the level of Nazi's. That ideal came from the Soviet Union to undermine our allegiance to our country. Read "The Naked Communist" If you do not care for your country you are less likely to fight for it. I believe in our Republic and I will fight to maintain our freedom.
well thats much more of a psychological standpoint, texans do it becuase we or rather the people before us had two wards fought over it, and were the only flag to be flown the height of the american flag, so thats basically why but i really dont understand were all the hatred is, idk if you know but appearantly people hate patriots? which is weird cus alot of other countries hate the US becuase of our patriotism...sound fammilar?
We Texans are just so proud of our identities and the beauty of the state's diversity. We recognize our patriotism and we generally are just practicing our freedom of loving our State. If only given a chance to be a country of our own, I'm pretty sure alot would agree because some still calls this the Republic of Texas. But Texans are just but a symbol of being an American. Its sad but it's OK...At least we don't tax our food here and no state tax.
Texas diversity? Get real. If you want to see diversity move to Toronto. Texas is a backward state. You don't have municipal recycling programs. You are a massive waster of energy. You have a horrible record of wrongful convictions. You execute more prisoners than any other state. You have one of the nation's worst air quality rates & thus the highest asthma rates. The majority of Texans believe global warming is a hoax, that peak oil is a myth and the Saddam hide his WMDs & you oppose the UN.
What is so wrong with pride? Why is it bad that Texas stand up for there state. I mean why arnte there any "I hate Rhode Island" videos or "I hate Oregon videos"? I mean basicly one of the big reasons for videos like this a the sterotype that the media has portrayed Texas as: cowboys. Which is not true.
how about flying the flag for those 3500 or more of your American friends and neighbors who have died in a now upopular war.
flags aren't a fascist thought as you would believe. ribbons for aids research, breast cancer,,,etc..flags and ribbon and butoons are a way to show solidarity.
it's only national socialism to fear..
not a flag, not a symbol - but facsim.
it's almost as bad as the brits idea of dictorial rule...usually by dics
I'm an American and I agree with you personally. It annoys me when I see flags all over the place for no apparent reason. I can understand when it's around the 4th of July since it's our independence day, but other than that I don't see why some people have such an obsession with it. Being patriotic is one thing, but some people just really need to get a life. XD
The love of the flag: Texas flag, I think it comes mainly from school I remember way back in 3rd grade our teachers telling us stories of the Texas flag. Not so much of the cloth but of what it represents. Our freedom, our honor, our pride that flag is our history, our present, and our future.
And it is everywhere here in Texas, every building that has a pole has the Texas flag. Government Building, Banks, Schools, Hospitals, Restaurants, Car lots, Cemeteries, and Houses. In grade school you are taught how to fold the flag, it must NEVER touch the ground, there are laws that protect the flag
The reason why the British flag is discreetly flown is because there is no England anymore. Your country gave up its identity and history in favor of internationalism. The once great and proud British empire, look at what it's reduced to now.

and about the flags... I think that you don't need to be showing your flag 24/7 to be patriotic, you can still be/feel proud of your nation without symbolism.

BKofSpielman 1 year ago
Brits hold the Monarchy up like a flag as the symbol of your country & that's ok. We fly our U.S. flag and here in Texas our state flag out of pride. Not for anyone in other countries to care about & doesn't need another countrys' permission or accolades. We are better at some things than others just as you Brits. I personally don't care what other countries think of my flag waving, I have 2 on my motorcycle. This has no effect on your life. Pride on ones nation. I hope I answered your question.

I found your video interesting, I never knew flags are not flown as they are in the US. We fly our flags proudly because it is a symbol of our freedom. It is a symbol of what we have fought for, died for etc. I guess my question for European countries would be, why not be proud of your country?

...of social ill.
Speegs23 2 years ago
Nationalism became anathema to the European mindset upon the conclusion of world war 2 as did the church, two things you pointed out as novelty to you.
The establishment scapegoated these two things as the cause of war and thought that minimalizing them would make them conflict free, but all it did was make a nihilisitc society.
Nihilism and materialism fill the void, Europe is no more virtuous from having tried to jettison nationalism and Christianity because they were not the culprits...

The nazis loved to fly a lot of flags. Excessive national pride is unhealthy. Its some sort of over-compensation for something. I wasn't really from a flag waving type of family, so I can't really answer those questions.
TheClassicalLiberal 2 years ago 5
I have met plenty of English and they love their flags. You a European dumbshit and we love our flags because they mean something just like your people's flags do. Learn the meaning of symbolism and respect. People died for these flags and you have the right to downgrade these flags because of them. Have fun with your rights they died for and rights you haven't died for.
NewRevolutionLeader 2 years ago
Flags are just pieces of cloth. Every country has them as physical, territorial markers. If you want to say that people have died for their constitution or their freedoms, that makes sense. A piece of cloth is just a symbol. Stars and stripes have nothing to do with democracy. Its just aesthetic. Also, why did you say, "European" Dumbshit? Why not just dumbshit? Why should one's continent of residence have anything to do with their cognitive faculties?
TheClassicalLiberal 2 years ago
The meaning asigned to flags is very arbitrary. The American flag might signify Jesus and Conservatism to some, where it might represent Free speech and secularism to others. You can assign meaning to anything that's ambiguous enough. With a clear, specific set of human rights, though, its not as easy.
TheClassicalLiberal 2 years ago
Yes, this is true but I love my country's flag. All the people that died for my country and flag did not die in vain. I am a true patriot and I believe everyone has their own opinion on topics so it's ok for someone to believe somethinng different. Having an opinion is a symbol of freedom.
NewRevolutionLeader 2 years ago
Your opinions are all weird and screwy. I mean, you're talking about how much you love your flag, but its inverted on your profile. Typically, that's meant to be a dis to America. You probably have some explanation that you think is clever though.

No patriotism, though, and now, countries exist that are the size of counties in Texas.
mensameme1 2 years ago
A hint: in history, any group waving a flag of unity won over any group without one. American Indian? No flag. Aztecs? No flag. South Africa? No Flag. The "United" Kingdom was symbolized by the British shooting down some locals and running the Union Jack up in the square and their forts. A conflict isn't called a war if either side doesn't have a flag. It is called an invasion by the ones who do. Now you know why the "United Kingdom" isn't what it was in the past. Your attitude.
mensameme1 2 years ago
wrong though. That's my opinion on the matter.
Tmanowns 2 years ago
I think that really, we mainly have the flag as an object to represent our country, and so some of us can think of the men and women who died fighting for it, even if we are screwed up. It's something we can show pride to, because it's hard to be prideful with the country itself, can't really wave it around.
Another thing is that the flag is a huge deal when it comes to military deaths. A folded flag goes to the family, a flag is draped over the caskets, and you always respect it. I might be

haruko619619 2 years ago
It means different things to different people. Lots of people served in the military and it's often a personal thing. Although not that personal being on ones front lawn. Perhaps better said as one of respect and remembrance for those no longer among them.
As far as there not being so many flags in other countries....What about Flemish flags? There are so many at the Tour de France I have a hard time believe they only fly flags once a year. Flags of Brittany come in a distant second.
stang661 2 years ago

Caliboyz101139 2 years ago
The short answer is Americans really aren't aware that they have been conditioned (brainwashed) by mass media (TV, etc) to have national pride, to be basically obsessed with sex too. The average american watches 4.5 hours of television per day, so those who don't watch TV are immersed in a society addicted to it to a high degree. Americans really think only what they are told to think.. and this is summarily patriotic propaganda for a profiteering war machine .. plus sex as sales strategy.

I believe in our Republic and I will fight to maintain our freedom.
tegalans 3 years ago
well thats much more of a psychological standpoint, texans do it becuase we or rather the people before us had two wards fought over it, and were the only flag to be flown the height of the american flag, so thats basically why but i really dont understand were all the hatred is, idk if you know but appearantly people hate patriots? which is weird cus alot of other countries hate the US becuase of our patriotism...sound fammilar?
blocker444 3 years ago
We Texans are just so proud of our identities and the beauty of the state's diversity. We recognize our patriotism and we generally are just practicing our freedom of loving our State. If only given a chance to be a country of our own, I'm pretty sure alot would agree because some still calls this the Republic of Texas. But Texans are just but a symbol of being an American. Its sad but it's OK...At least we don't tax our food here and no state tax.
holyfreakingshit 3 years ago 4
Texas diversity? Get real. If you want to see diversity move to Toronto. Texas is a backward state. You don't have municipal recycling programs. You are a massive waster of energy. You have a horrible record of wrongful convictions. You execute more prisoners than any other state. You have one of the nation's worst air quality rates & thus the highest asthma rates. The majority of Texans believe global warming is a hoax, that peak oil is a myth and the Saddam hide his WMDs & you oppose the UN.
JohnPurvis 3 years ago
I'm not sure what part of Texas you're referring to, but Austin and Houston are both very different than your pre-conceived notions.
SWeggemann 3 years ago

XD

I live in Texas. Yes I am very proud of it.

So if you live in the UK, then you would understand why we fly the US flag. You know, we won our independence from you and all. Just saying...
