I think the bills teams of that era were great teams they just happen to run into better teams inthe super bowl in the redskins and cowboys, however I THINK THEY WERE BETTER THAN THE GIANTS IN 25 JUST DIDNT PLAY THAT WELL
Sorry but think again. When you stop the NFL's highest rated, huddle-up offense to 19 points, you're a great team. When you possess the ball for 40:29 seconds of a 60-minute game, and embark on the longest drive in Super Bowl history (10 min), that is physical domination. And when you have two backup players, one a QB, the other a RB (not exactly dispensable positions) lead your team to victory, that's saying something. I'm sorry you feel that way.
I wish someone would post the NFC Championship intro of the Lions/Skins. Because Lord knows, it's gonna be awhile before Detroit sniffs another title game
Looking back, I think the Redskins were the NFL's best team in 91 and were destined to go 19-0. Those were some good Washington teams in the Joe Gibbs era. It's a shame that the first two seasons post-Gibbs were complete and utter nightmares.
I am glad someone else besides me has relized this. Also after the Giants win and then the Skins win, the team after them wins back to back. 49ers with 23 and 24 and cowboys with 27 and 28.
When one speaks about the great Super Bowl teams in the NFL's rich past, these Redskins always seem to be omitted? That's a grievous injustice. Oh well, at least Art Monk's getting inducted in Canton in a couple of weeks as is Gary Zimmerman. Now, there's two Broncos!
How did they dodge this? They had no control over who they played perhaps this problem you have is more so with the league. Again, maybe you should be mad at the teams who couldn't beat the Vikings etc.
All three in their Superbowls?
Monk, Riggins, Taylor, Green, Sanders, Smith, Theisman, Williams, Butz, Jacoby, Grimm, Bostic, Clark, I could go on all night of some of the great players we had on our Superbowl teams.
And don't try to say those players weren't because you'd be a fool.
Hate to burst your bubble, but Washington was one of those teams that were always fortunate to face the bottom feeders in playoffs each and every time they made it to the Super Bowl, it was surprising they even beat Buffalo.
1982 Redskins were 8-1 1982 Lions were 4-6 1982 Vikings were 5-4 1982 Cowboys were 6-3 1987 Redskins 11-4 1987 Bears 11-4 1987 Vikings 8-7 1991 Redskins 14-2 1991 Falcons 10-6 1991 Lions 12-4 All these teams were above .500 except for the 82 Lions and 87 Vikings. I also didn't know "bottom feeders" had playoff appearances. What team do you like?
Look who Redskins had to beat in every playoff game, 1987 they dodged so much shit in the NFC by not having to play New orleans or San Fransisco and played a Bears team that never could win in post season except in 1985 and a vikings team that was horrible and usually fluked the wins in the post seasons. But now we dont have to worry because Washington will never be a contender with Gibbs gone, name good Wash players.... what like all 3 in its history? Monk, Riggins, and Taylor is all they had.
WWEPATRIOT...please dont make a fool out of yourself. For example...gary clark? You probably don't know who he is. Who had as good stats as loud mouth michael irvin did....but i don't see him being talked about. That's one shit ton of washington players that should/already is in hall of fame. Did you mention Sean Taylor? Please. That is only the thin layer of washington greats.
As for your playoffs thoughts, vikings were a good team in 87, idiot.
Well, it does seem like even when you guys do have talent..you've historically been known for going a solid 9-7..on a good year and maybe making the playoffs as a wildcard..well as far as the last 20 years go at least..nobody has really been afraid of u guys posing a threat to the rest of the NFL since the late 80's early 90's..face it..you are the skidmark of the NFC East...lol Its pretty sad when u guys consider Dallas such a big rival, but they just kinda dismiss yall these days lmao
Well I'm not gonna stop it there, and bitch you NEED to get on my level..its how u get ahead in life..Cowboys are going to dominate the Deadskins again this year like they always do. There isn't even a rivalry there as far as most Dallas fans are concerned..u know why that is? Because whenever we have to play Washington..we are just like "oh great we get to play the team that is the skidmark of the NFC East again....awesome..." Ya'll got nothing. NOTHING.
Right on! I'll take Gary Clark over Michael Irvin any day of the week! As for Sean Taylor, he was on his way of becoming the greatest safety of all time! Ive never seen anyone who could cover the field like him. There has definately been nobody as hard as a hitter as him. Yes, Gary Clark and Ricky Sanders should be in the hall of fame.
I'm assuming you must be a Cowboy hater because whereas everyone and their mother has heard of who Michael Irvin is...ummm who the HELL is Gary Clark??!! Thats sad because I am a hardcore football fan..so if I haven't even heard of him, he can't be all that great! Sean Taylor, however, he was a damn good safety..may he R.I.P. and may the bastards who killed him burn in hell ;)
If you don't know who Gary Clark is you are either a young kid or you don't watch football. Irvin was good, but as great as Clark he never was. The only thing Irvin was known for was doing cocaine.
well, i'm 22 but i've been a football fan since the early 90's..guess i was too young to catch wind of his heroics....either that or i could just care less about redskin football...so yeah Irvin is a hall of famer, cocaine or no cocaine...when is Clark to be inducted?????????? Since he is so great surely he's gonna be in the hall of fame right?
I've been a football fan since the early 80's. I'll take Clark over Irvin any day of the week. You must be a cowboy fan. I notice you think the world of Irvin. I bet your really missing Owens these days huh?
Yeah, i liked Irvin...I am a Cowboys fan u guessed it lol..i know he did drugs and all that, but he showed deep down hes a good person after crying during his hall of fame speech..he's def. a changed man, we all mess up though. And yes, I am really distraught over the loss of TO, BUT i have to admitt i think it will help our whole situation tremendously as soon as next year, we just need secondary help is our main thing..im not worried about the offense.
Getting rid of Owens is the best thing the cowboys have done. They will be a better team now since he is gone. As a Redskins fan though, I was hoping they would keep him because he would always hurt the team. He is cancer, he ruins every team he's played for. I'm sorry about the bills stupidness.
As a redskin fan since I was 7 or so (I'm 31 now) that intro brought back some good memories. I remember in the first half Art Monk catching a touchdown that would have not been had instant replay been implemented that year. Replay was discarded for a few years in the early nineties before it was brought back for good. Also I remember before the season starting John Madden stating the redskins were a team to be reckened with while few other "experts" seemed to take them seriously.
I still put the 1990 Bills up against ANY NFL Super Bowl winner....
