  • Nice discussion. I could use this knife all day long! Thanks for sharing.

  • Great vid. I own that knife. I was told by Mike that the loop is for an Army Light my Fire firesteel. That is in my sheath and it fits perfectly. God bless. John

  • The bigger light my fire Army fire striker would probably a good fit for the loop on the side! Worth a thought!

  • the loop on the side is for a FIRESTEEL ... one of the proper length and diameter.

A peice of shock cord attached to the firesteel gets looped down over the end to retain it while stowed in the loop.

  • the loop on the side is actually for a swedish firesteel. you have the scout model it's for the army model.

  • the loop on the side is actually for a swedish firesteel.

  • If you get a full size firesteel it'll probably fit just perfectly. Look for the army model rather than the scout model.

  • actually the side loop IS for bigger firesteel...they come in larger sizes

  • I like your vids. But i was wondering if you could point me in the direction of some good quality bush knives( scandi ground) that are not super expencive and not plastic handled.

    I would really appreciate it.

  • @smknsmpt88 Not all of the Mora knives have plastic handles. Check out their offerings online. Otherwise, unfortunately none of the other major manufacturers have caught on to the trend yet. If you want a super high quality knife with the Scandi grind, you're probably going to have to look into a custom or semi-custom.

  • @icychap

try MARTTIINI its a finnish brand i discovered this brand when i moved to finland and their knives are top quality

  • @smknsmpt88 look at bensbackwoodsdotcom they have enzo blanks and also different knife you make is reasonable prices

  • I have found with my copy of this knife that the wetter it gets the more the handle sticks to your hand and not the reverse.

  • If you use the Swedish Military Firesteel you will find it fits perfectly.

  • Lehman's® Power Knife looks good and affordable.

  • hi icychap i dont know if this has been said but if u get one of the big swedish army firer steels it will fit in the loop and it will not sleep out.

i know this because on my bushcraft knife i have got a simler sheaf.

  • hey icechap its me again!!

great video -like the others you have !!

all your videos are exellent !!

where can i buy a woodlore knife and how much it costs !!

    best wishes from me

    good luck

  • If you're looking for a bushcraft knife in the same tradition as the Woodlore knife (used by Ray Mears), recommend looking at the Mora line. They're relatively inexpensive but very capable.

  • To keep your hands from slipping when wet. the knife had a lanyard hole in the knife handle. Put a short cord in the handle, just long enough to go to pinky and that will keep it from moving. When I got my knife from ML knifes that is how he had the knife rigged. works great and keeps my hand away from the blade.

  • Hi, got the knife back. Thx. While the small loop on top of the belt loop is for a d-ring or neck lanyard, the loop on the side fits an army model firesteel (looks like you had a the smaller scout version there). Sorry if I wasn't clear in my message. Thanks for doing the review and good luck with your channel. ML

  • Thanks for being so understanding of my delay in getting it back to you. And thanks for clarifying that info in your comment!

    Be well.

  • Icychap, Firesteels are available in several sizes, your is a small one, the loop has has been made to accommodate a 10mm firesteel.

Your appears to be around 6mm

  • I never realized that. I have only ever seen the smaller size. Thanks for letting me know!

  • pigglesnitch i was going to say the same, i have a firesteel loop on mine that takes the thicker of the three grades i own, im sure the are graded Scout, Army and Survival or similar, although using the loop as a means to secure it is fine too, just adds to it versatility

  • I'll take the knife off your hands if you don't want it. ;) I need a "bushcraft" knife.

  • After a fire steel has been used for awhile, you guys do realize that the diameter does change and that the fire steel will no longer fit the loop on the sheath properly, right?

  • I like what I like - and that's what I base my reviews upon. My opinions are always evolving, however, and comments like yours will continue to educate me. I appreciate your input, and perhaps I will update my review down the road.

  • the fire steel loop is made for bigger fire steel like the army light my fire model

  • Ah, makes sense. Thanks.

  • I like this knife! The sheath is awesome! Great Vid.

  • Thanks, bro. I'm still a fan of synthetic sheaths (as you'll see in my next vid), but as far as leather productions sheaths this one is quite nice.

    Thanks for watching!

  • I would really like this knife if the handle was a bit less wide. I currently use a Bark River Aurora for bushcraft, and I think it's perfect.

  • the convex edge prolly widdles hair eh i really like convex edge blades but i also like singel bevel too

  • Not gonna lie, I'm in love with convex edges. I've used the sandpaper and mousepad method on pretty much every knife I own. I have maybe one or two knifes out of a collection about forty that I haven't convexed.

  • i saw a video on YT useing the sandpaper and mouse pad

    he also used a strop

i have a granfors axe and the edge on that is sharper then my usmc fighting knife and my rat 1 and my frost mora hahaha
