@SinerAthin Look up Asymmetric Warfare. The US Military has a code of conduct it must abide by, the insurgents do not. Two different styles of warfare. Also, those fighters aren't 'lowly' fighters. Most of them have been fighting for the majority of their lives and know sufficiently about combat to give any nation a hard time. The Russians failed to even take over A-Stan in the 70's and 80's, but the US took it over within a matter of a few months. The US is winning, but slowly, very slowly.
I only said that they were poorly designed to deal with insurgents, nor have their leaders developed any decisive strategies to counteract crime/insurgence.

@SinerAthin Look up Asymmetric Warfare. The US Military has a code of conduct it must abide by, the insurgents do not. Two different styles of warfare. Also, those fighters aren't 'lowly' fighters. Most of them have been fighting for the majority of their lives and know sufficiently about combat to give any nation a hard time. The Russians failed to even take over A-Stan in the 70's and 80's, but the US took it over within a matter of a few months. The US is winning, but slowly, very slowly.
