This happened at Irving Plaza...someone below makes the distinction of thunders being the mainstay effect....thats so true...David we assumed he was the most powerfull........but they all look up to David...and David was at the helm of the buisness aspect....Johnny and jerry had to learn the hard way...they got under Lee Black Childers ....who was responsable for the lucrative Maxes gigs....its in sid & Nancy.BUT JT could street operate and like a MUTHAFKA..so he stole the scene
This is not the last time JT played with David Johansen and Sylvain Sylvain. This was recorded in 1980 or 1981 so long before Thunders died and he performed many times after this with Johansen and Sylvain Sylvain. There is even a clip on youtube from this show where Thunders is doing Great Big Kiss and Stepping Stones. But Johansen and Sylvain aren't in that clip because they only came up for the last few songs of this show. Peter Perret(only ones)also joined Thunders for this show.
And you can see Peter Perret on the clip that I mentioned. And the same story goes for the other few songs that you are uploaded. They are from the Thundersalbum Sticks and Stones, which also has some great demos with the oddballs and a few acousticsongs done solo by Thunders.
i know i have the album,i have like 15 jt bootlegs and a couple nyd bootlegs im gonna upload soon and also even on the album back for sticks and stones it says word for word "The final reunion with David Johansen and Sylvain Sylvain"
I am a bit obsessed by Thunders I must admit I have all his official stuff and about 175 cds and cdrs. And 15 bootlegdvds and ofcourse his official dvds. And I know it says The final reunion, but trust me on that one it really is from 1980 or 1981. Like I said before I have seen a clip on youtube from that same show, but maybe it's removed or maybe it's still there. And it also has Buddy Bowser on Saxophone.
And you know what's really a bit weird. I have so much Thundersstuff, but I only have the offical New York Dollsalbums from the seventies, and only 2 New York Dollsbootlegs. I love Thunders solo and the Heartbreakers and every other band he played with(the oddballs for example)but I don't like the New York Dolls that much. The best thing about them I like ofcourse is Thunders guitarplaying.
i actually just seen them in boston like 2 months ago i got sylvain and david to sign my nyd and too much too soo albums...ive got 6 nyd bootlegs, one is when thunders left and blackie lawless was on guitar, then i got dallas,a gig at max's,one from london, then a few from recent yrs and a couple official ones from recent yrs. once jt left the dolls i think his playing and atitude changed alot, much more rock n roll and straight forward
I haven't even heard the last 2 New York Dollscds but what I heard from people who are really into them those were quite disappointing. And I consider them more of a Johansen+backingband then the Dolls with only 2 of the original members being alive. But if you like the Dolls you should get the Boxset from here to Eternity, there a some great shows on that one. And though the soundquality isn't the best the shows are great. And it's a official release.

Oh and the video I mentioned is still on youtube. Just typ in Johnny Thunders Steppin' Stone. It's the clip recorded at Max's kansas city.

And it says on the clip 1980. So that's the year when this socalled final reunion was recorded.
