  • @N3verShoutAlways h22's like the motor in the prelude, have alot of power at high rpms, but it suffers in the low end section, supercharger give it instant low end torque and gets it to 5200 (vtec) quick then vtec does the rest of the job, supercharger helps

  • Cost just over $3000 from JacksonRacing. To get it tuned and running smooth, another $500-$1000. It was fun, but I didn't have the budget to get it where I wanted it.

  • Supercharger gives you a shit load of TQ and instant power where Turbos give you a larger boost in HP and it takes a few seconds for the turbo to kick in but when it does you notice more power at higer RPMs

  • Yes its possible, the setup is extremly insane. They have a current setup with Two turbos that feed directly into a supercharger that produces 44 PSI on mid boost with the turbos. Which means you better have an oxygen tank because more than likely you will end up in the atmosphere somewhere.

    however its not practical by any means, and i Dont think the engine bay in the prelude is big enough to accommodate all the shit you would need.

  • Google Twurbo, they make a dual charger kit for Mini coopers. Lancia did it for Rally racers back in the day and some K cars in Japan use this design. The problem lies in the fuelling and boost regulating along with heat exchange.

    Pick one and you will be a happy camper, with ceramic bearing turbos with new impeller designs, lag is all but elimated unless you are running a really huge turbo, in which case you can utilize nitrous as a supplement as they do in drag racing

  • @Fonzie8819 You get relatively the same boost gains, the supercharger is just instant because it's usually driven by a belt as opposed to the turbo being ran off of the exhaust gasses, hence the turbo "lag"

  • @Fonzie8819 all depends on tuning some turbos are adjusted to engage at the lower rpms and usually supercharging does not bring the power that a turbo can and always uses more gas than a turbo which usues the exhaust gases and is much more efficient so basically what you say is $h!+

  • you dont get shit from supercharging honda's. Their to small to be wasting power to get power. Fortunetly spinning a turbo requires wasted energy, not to mention the heat it gives away. But to compare the energy loss of a spooled turbo to a supercharger is dumb... i still to this day, never understood why you would supercharged a honda motor. Unless of course you do autocross and like to speed around in a parking lot.

  • I live in Cali and run a turbo on my 98 prelude. I'm running a greddy tdo5 turbo kit. It has a carb # on it to pass visual inspection. OBD1 p28 conversion,hondata s300, graddy bov, tanabe 3" exhaust mugen test pipe, fully built...15 psi on the streets.

  • The supercharger kit from jackson racing is designend for our motors. granted our ECU is going rape us of a lot of hp, the supercharger takes advantage of the whats avaliable while operating the motor's safe zone. Any turbocharger is going to push a stock motor to its breaking point UNLESS you've built your motor OR unless youre pushing low boost with decent fuel managment. I am

  • I prefer supercharger over turbo because power is instananeous...well faster than a turbo.. Who cares if it doesnt put out like 400 hp. its a 2.2L engine! if you want more power then you need more displacement

  • turbos will walk over superchargers anyday of the week, assuming its setup properly and tuned well. yes superchargers dont have the same lag as turbo's but once turbos get boost then its "see ya later". not too mention turbos when not under boost improve your mpg.

  • Not just any turbos, but high performance turbos that will cope with heat and lag as RPM rises. Mind you, the big advantage of turbos over superchargers is that some turbos can take punishment at high revs, where superchargers don't. For quick boost at low rpms, superchargers are better than turbos.

  • I hope you're kidding. Forced induction engines need all the cool air they can get, and getting from outside the engine compartment is the best way, since the JRSC for the Prelude can't be intercooled. and if anything, you lose 1-3 ft/lbs of torque. Good luck with it man!
