Hi there ! Please see the earliest comments to this video. I explain the basic chording I use for this song and tuning and key. The rest is easy to work out just from that.
Hi Knuckle !! Yes, its open G, capo'd up 2 frets. Played in the key of F# minor. Slightly out of tune on the 1st/2nd string I think !!!! Whoops !! F#min (root chord), Bmin (4th)and C#min chords (5th) - same intervals as E, A and B - just a weird key.
Root chord is fretted at the 2nd fret on 6th, 4th and 1st strings, the other strings open . Fret the 6th string, 2nd fret with my thumb. The 4th chord (Bmin) is a bar on 2nd fret - 1st to 5th strings, 5th chord is a bar on 4th fret (1-5 strings)
Oh yeah, the bars on the 2nd and 4th frets (with a slide) would technically be major chords - which we don't want to sound out - so have to bend/slide the notes like I do to take away the "Major" sound/feel out of those chords.
The root on the slide (I swoop up to occasionally) is at the 9th fret - I think ! Not got a guitar in front of me. Hammer on lots of the notes - including hammering on+off the slide on the bass string runs. Gett all that then you have the song !
Sorry ! The root chord bar higher up the neck is as at the 11th fret (not the 9th as I stated earlier). Again it technically is a major 3rd chord - so I try and avoid playing the major 3rd note as much as possible.
I knew the song but your interpretation was very close to Rainer :o) I do think that your Duolian sounds good as well and in good shape for a vintage National
Does Rainer do this particular song then, and recorded it BEFORE 1991 ? It might be that the guitarist I saw was copying Rainer (rather than his own arrangemnet ?). The guitar sounds great. It belonged to some old guy in his 80's in England who I thinkhad it since new - was in a case in his garage covered in dust - unplayed for years. The neck was warped but I got it all sorted - neck rest, straightened, new fretboard etc. Plays like new now ! Duco paint in v good condition.
Its a Junior Wells song - Come On In This House - learnt it about 18yrs ago watching a guy playing outside, at an intersection in the pedestrianised area of the French Quarter in New Orleans. I asked the white guy's name but couldn't understand his thick southern drawl ! I love this Duolian too. Was thinking about selling it and put up this video for a guy thinking about buying it. He isn't convinced - is he crazy ? I think, like you, it sounds great ! Less inclined to sell it now !
Hi - Kenny Holliday is the guy you are talking about. (I'm not sure if that spelling is correct). I have not been in contact with him for many years now. I certainly hope he is still playing somewhere.

That's got a vibe of it's own Snake Good stuff. What tuning is that? Sounds like G but perhaps it's throwing me off because of the capo.
