  • Nice race, both are nice cars. Anyone hating on either one is just mad cause they can't afford one :P I personally like the Chargers but I know a guy with a G8 GT with an SLP exhaust, headers, intake, chip/tune, aftermarket heads, cam and not sure what else. I think he dynoed like 503 or something like that. Its a really nice car and he loves it.

If all the mags get are getting pretty close performance numbers between the G8 GT and the Charger SRT8, what makes you think the performance is going to be any different in the street? Face it, the SRT8 is a heavy car.

  • @deezomaxima - Say's they guy who started mud-slinging first. Go read the the Road and Track assessment of the SRT8 vs the Higher End G8 GXP, they were neck and neck. You're trying to tell me that G8 GT has close performance numbers to SRT8? What mag are you reading, Playgirl?

  • @RussianNightmare Once you start modding a car you can throw all the comparisons out the window. G8 GT's respond exceptionally well to mild bolt ons, as demonstrated in this short clip. My bolt on G8 GT runs faster at the track then my Friends bolt on SRT8. That is on street tires mind you. The driver Mod is just as big of a factor as the car itself. Stock, my car ran 13.7s-13'8s. Now it runs consistent 12.8s on street tires. One second ET with just intake full exhaust.

  • @RussianNightmare No Problem. I have several friends with SRT8's and I am very familiar with what they can do. Plus I visit the track a lot and they are always out there. However in this vid all I had was an intake and superchips handheld tune. The charger had hi flow cats, exhaust, intake, manifold spacers but stock tune and we were essentially equal. The G8 GT is seriously detuned from the factory. It doesn't have the top end of the SRT8, but from 0 -100 it is a drivers race with mods.

  • @RussianNightmare Who cares if I started mud slinging first. WTF does that have to do with anything? I saw the comparo, the GXP is still faster and gets better gas mileage. In one of Motor Trend's test, they got the GT to 60 in 5 seconds flat! Most mages get it there in 5.3 seconds. So you're telling me that 5.3 seconds isn't close to 4.9? It's very damn close for a car with 361 HP. You figure it out dude.

  • @RussianNightmare The SRT8 is not like driving a CTS-V, 911 or Lambo. It's a 5.5 second car to 60 on a bad day and if the conditions are right, it's a 4.9 second car to 60.

  • @deezomaxima .4 seconds is a big deal even on a quarter mile yet alone 0-60mph. So its actually not even close.

You couldn't even tap your finger on a desk in .4 seconds 2 times and you're sitting here trying to tell me about .4 seconds being a huge lead between 2 cars to 60. Since you seem to know how big the lead is, why don't you show us. You most likely drive something that's slow so that's why you couldn't possibly know WTF you're talking about. .4 seconds in the 1/4 is a bigger lead than in a 6-60 run. Period.

  • I beat a couple of Charger SRT8s from stop lights and I'm 100% stock...and yes they were tryin to beat me. They just didn't try had enough. I'm scared to death of that Jeep SRT8, especially from a dig. I won't even try to race that unless it's from a roll.

  • I raced my friend's Charger a few weeks ago, 08 SRT with cai, custom tune, exhaust and custom thermostat. Still beat him tho, I'm guessing just because it's 200lbs heavier and the G8 is geared a lot better.

    My specs: 2009 Pontiac G8 GT - K&N cai, racing plugs, Custom Dyno ECM & TCM tune, 330rwhp 341rwtq (On a mustang dyno, conservative) 0-60 4.5seconds 1/4mi 12.9

  • No headers on the Charger, fyi. Check out part 2 to see runs with customer dyno tune instead of stock tune.
