I did not pick up on the gay stuff the first time I saw this movie, but I do remembering wondering why Freddy would want to possess the body of such a total wimp
@dkupke : While I do agree Jesse is quite on the "fem" side, lol, my only logical reasoning as to why Freddy would pick such a wimp is because Freddy lives and gets strength from fear. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that Jesse is definitely afraid haha.
@rubmyclips It was the 80's, people were doing all kinds of stupid shit! Case in point, Jesse walking into an S&M bar and the bartender serving a teenager a drink.
In the movie it's suggested that he's gay. Lmao blame it on the writer of the movie. Aside from that scene and the s and m bar. And him running away from his gf after he tongues her.
I felt this was the best Nightmare movie, it easily has the darkest tone, the most evil Freddy before he went comical, I mean come on ther later sequels were a joke. This movie works as a stand alone horror.
Freddy was trying to get inside Jesse before he went off to study theater at Point Park University so that Freddy would have all of those FABULOUS SOULS!
The director or someone involved in the movie admitted that the character was suppose to be gay or unsure about his sexuality but they made it into a subliminal side story that just made the movie, well. . . more gay! lol. It would have been more interesting if the movie was more clear about the main characters gayness. .no homo lol. . .btw i remember me and my sister laughing like hell on 1:59 when we first saw this haha.
I actually liked this one, still have the vhs from the 80's. Always liked the Halloweens and Friday the 13ths better... but i'd have to say Jason goes to Hell was lame and 10 was THE WORSE OF ALL TIME.
This is easily the worst of the Nightmare series.............. The cast ( other than Robert Englund ) is crappy. I mean, I could care less if Jesse was a queen, but he could have tried to act a little more manly. Those screams he shouts just make me sick........ Oh well......It is what it is
@TheGreekMan1981 if they still had the jesse interview on youtube i would've linked it to ya but he actually had a good reason on why he screamed like that, he actually would've thought it'd sound more realistic to scream the way he did instead of screaming in a deep voice. I find his screams hilarious but to be honest i'm sure i'm not the only guy that may have screamed in a not so manly way before. As for jesse being manly they obviously gave that part to lisa since she's the hero lol
@TheGreekMan1981 ok his screams might be funny,......... but lets be honest, if YOU were attacked/haunted by some angry demonic spirit i dont think you would be worrying about screaming manly...........
@TheGreekMan1981 haha wtf? ok, not only is part 2's freddy the most terrifying in the whole series, but it also has the best kill in horror movie history! you are probably one of those kids who dismisses it without even watching it. the only reason you feel that way is cause you heard some review say it was gay and want to jump on the bandwagon....and thats lame, you kids should stop youtubing all the kills and ending before actually watching the movie in its entirety
@chessinfantry I'm probably one of those kids??? You my friend have no idea what you are talking about. I am almost 40 and hardly a kid. This movie sucked and most people would agree
@chessinfantry Yea, and I'm supposed to take advice from some idiot with a Wu Tang logo as his profile pic. Not hardly. How about you go to bed along with this crappy ass movie
I blame the gayness of this movie on Jesse, as we certainly can't blame it on Robert Englund. Damn Jesse and his gayness ruined a perfectly good movie
@NancyThompsonOfElmSt I'll always like this movie and if it wasn't for jesse this movie would not have been as memorable as it is. Plus i'm not homophobic either :P
@rubmyclips I couldn't agree more. Mark gave an amazingly breath-taking and realistic performance which is why Jesse is my second favorite character from the franchise after Nancy.
@NancyThompsonOfElmSt yeah for everyone that has seen this movie i'm sure they all try to dance like jesse when this song comes on whether they want to admit it or not heh
I feel that the film benefited from the homosexual themes. It made Freddy feel more fleshed out as a creep and a predator, and it makes for a great alternative character insight for Jesse.
My gosh, I'm a horror fan and I've always liked this movies, this one included, but as a gay guy it's almost too transparent how they made Jesse so stereotypical. It probably would have worked more effective if he were more subtly hinted at about being gay, but maybe it's just me since I've never really considered myself flamboyant.
not to be negative but dude this was the 1980's and this was the stly and music, would you have rather had him listening to lil wayne, drake, niki minaj lol
Who would have thaought that was gay I just thought how people acted in the 80's. I'm a very nostalgic person and now I know why people have been looking at me funny.
Just for the readers info...the guy that played jessie is really gay in real live, if you youtube it, the directors and producers of the movie speed about the gay uindertones in the movie that it was purposely placed there and when they cast the guy that played jessie, they had no idea he would later come out...they also interviewed Jessie....So it was no accident that these movies were littered with an underlying gay theme
both bodies were burned in fire yet Jesse still lived. Yes, I get that him an Freddy are two people, but if somebody is possessed by another I'm quite sure they'd both die...I'm just saying
@LunarWolf2011 Interesting indeed but maybe grady was dreaming when jesse woke him up and freddy ripped through his body, and the same thing with him being burned at the end maybe somehow lisa was asleep when she saved him. That's just my opinion on it.
they actually do say his character is quote on quote "bisexual". That he does in fact have "gay" moments in which they hinted at but never really went on with. Such as the bar scene, or the party scene where he goes to his friend's house. According to the movie Scream, "You won't be killed if you're gay". So I guess this counts for Jesse since there were several moments he coulda died. I don't get how he survived being ripped open by Freddy (I wonder if that's a gay innuendo?), or the fact that
@ICETEAPRODUCTIONS1 I think so. But.. Beng gay in high school is hard. Especially in the 80's when being gay was still slowly becoming accepted, which it still isnt that much today, but in the u80's must have been worse. So to cover for it he gets a girlfriend. That or he is in denile.
@ICETEAPRODUCTIONS1 If so he could have done a much better job being straight, he is an Actor! Actors act! Hell Neil Patrick Harris is queerer than a 2 dollar bill, and he plays womanizers all the time. I didnt know he was gay til someone had to tell me. This guy is obviously gay, and with the things he is given to say and he things he does, he goes to a gay bar for fucks sake. WIth his gym teacher.
In the documentary Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy, screenwriter David Chaskin confirms that he had intentionally meant for the film to have homoerotic subtext though others who had worked on the film, including producer Robert Shaye and director Jack Sholder, claim that they were completely unaware of it at the time.
@heyitsart that's crazy that they were unaware but to be honest as funny as this movie is the main actor said it sounded weird if he were to actually scream manly while freddy was around so thats why he went for the high pitched scream which honestly does make sense but of course not every guy will admit they'll scream like a girl when they get scared haha
This movie is the equivalent to Halloween III Season of the Witch. A really good bad movie would be Jesse and his homoerotic tendencies and getting a job at the Silver Shamrock Mask Factory.
1:50 lol I was hoping you'd got that clip! Jesse is the biggest horror movie pansy ever! I always wondered why he's screaming like an absolute bitch, yet the bitch in the middle with Freddie's hand ripping through her chest, just looks kinda puzzled?
"He's inside me, and he wants to take me again!". Wishful thinking. O.k, he's either gay or...no, who am I kidding - Jesse is indeed Gay. It makes sense, though...poor Freddy has a predilection for screaming, arm-flapping girls, and so it' only..er, natural, that he mistakes Jesse for a screamer - albeit not a very convincing one. Gay or not, he was badly cast for this movie; he makes Charlie Sheen look like a seasoned method actor!
In the scene where they're eating breakfast at the start of the movie next to the copper rooster on the wall above the phone is a penis I swear to god!
OMG thank you! I remember watching this for the first time when I was 5 and even I knew back then this guy was a total queen! This Jesse Montage you have created is Fab and being Gay myself I am not affended.
@MrHomeGurl Thanks for not being offended and enjoying the clip, even with the text i put before the video starting some people think i'm against gays which isn't true. I'm just pointing out the obvious in this movie and just trying to get the viewers laughing
@ rubmyclips. Great video, but is there anyway you can add the scene where jesse is screaming in class? That scene when the snake is wrapped around him?
its funny. on wikipedia, they said it was actually ment for Jesse to have been dealing with his sexuality. Its funny when all the clips are put together like this. I just watched it last night and didn't notice, but yeah, you make a GREAT point on here! Thanks!
I still don't see what the actor playing jesse being gay in real life has to do with all the homoerotic undertones all through out the movie, i mean he didn't make the movie, so i still don't see why they chose to do that
Same here. Jesse didn't make the movie, so why all the gay stuff? And Freddy being gay? No wonder he's so mean. He has to unleash his inner sexuality.
@Jadama0 actually they never say anything about Nightmare on Elm street 2. It's the making of number one, so idk where you heard them say Mark is actually gay in real life. I just watched the whole think so don't say they did
@guyJonasfan Actually he said it himself in the documentary. Are you sure you saw the correct one? "Never Sleep Again" is the making of the first Elm street and "Never Sleep Again: Elm Street Legacy" is the making of all 7 films in a four hour long documentary. I think you saw the wrong one. :)
Yes. Jesse was gay and Freddy was a manisfestation of his homosexuality that wanted to 'come out'. That's why I loved this film because it's all about interpitation of dreams and what the mind can do to a person, which is very much what Freddy represents.
I was just watching the inside story about this film and everybody, from the director to the actors, admitted to the BDSM and gay overtones of the film. Swear to God, I missed all of it the first time watching it.
@declanlover13 yes the actor who played Jesse, Mark Patton, is gay. He was gay when the movie was made apparantly the producers didn't know. They didn't even know how gay they were making the film!
haha lmao

its funny. on wikipedia, they said it was actually ment for Jesse to have been dealing with his sexuality. Its funny when all the clips are put together like this. I just watched it last night and didn't notice, but yeah, you make a GREAT point on here! Thanks!

I still don't see what the actor playing jesse being gay in real life has to do with all the homoerotic undertones all through out the movie, i mean he didn't make the movie, so i still don't see why they chose to do that
cushe83 1 year ago
@cushe83
Same here. Jesse didn't make the movie, so why all the gay stuff? And Freddy being gay? No wonder he's so mean. He has to unleash his inner sexuality.

Fun Fact: He actually was openly Gay in real life. All is reveled in "Never Sleep Again: Elm Street Legacy"
Jadama0 1 year ago
@Jadama0 actually they never say anything about Nightmare on Elm street 2. It's the making of number one, so idk where you heard them say Mark is actually gay in real life. I just watched the whole think so don't say they did
guyJonasfan 9 months ago
@guyJonasfan Actually he said it himself in the documentary. Are you sure you saw the correct one? "Never Sleep Again" is the making of the first Elm street and "Never Sleep Again: Elm Street Legacy" is the making of all 7 films in a four hour long documentary. I think you saw the wrong one. :)

least jesse admits he is gay unlike many other celebs out there.
ChicanoTattooArt 1 year ago
