@verbod Let me guess, you suggest the camera you have, right? We all have thousands and thousands of dollars to spend on "real" cameras and equipment. Get over yourself. Some people just like photography as a hobby and can do just fine with these types of cameras.
ISO, Aperture, Shutter speed and exposure compensation can affect how bright or dark a picture would come out.
If you're in dim conditions, then opening the aperture (lower F) will let more light in but also affects your depth of field and might make it harder to get stuff in focus. Higher ISO will help but increases noise. Longer shutter speeds will help but too slow and a tripod will be needed. Its so much fun though - Photography. I've got an old Canon 20D and still love the thing.
The EV control which you are using is for certain situations, for example if in aperture priority the camera metered a shot and you took it and it was slightly over exposed then the cameras metering system is reading the scene not how you see it so you can make these fine adjustments to make it right.
Im sorry but you are adjusting the EV value which is for compensating and bracketing and other things.
When in manual mode you have free reign to control aperture and shutter speed to get the right exposure so use these controls. For example if you set f/6 as aperture and your pictures are dark then adjust the shutter speed in accordance or use a wider aperture. You do not need to use EV when in manual unless bracketing.
ok...i have to say this. First thing I noticed is U are very beautiful! Did anyone tell u how nice ur eyes look? Ok, i'm not trying to hit on u, I thought u would look for portraits photography. And I dun know what U are talking about regarding measuring exposures. Hahaahaha.....
ahh not to burst your bubble but a higher iso setting creates more noise in ur photo decreasing its quality to get a better shot put ur iso speed to around 100 and ur shutter speed to around 1/125
i noticed ur shutter speed was 1/500 that was probly y ur shots were dark
@skittlepower95 depending on what your shooting a higher Iso is ok to have and Noise can be use creativly in the final picture, Also I use Lightroom it works really well to get ride of unwanted noise.
haha thanks... no offense taken I know my english is less than perfect in a lot of these videos... my english is by no means the crowning jewel of my existence and I'm sorry if my abuse of the english language has offended you in any way.. keep it coming with the constructive criticism!
i'm currently saving up for the e510. I would love to buy the body alone but here in singapore they only sell the camera with 2 kit lenses :( cause i wanna get higher end lenses for this camera. grrr gotta throw in a few hundred more bucks now. but seems like you're really enjoying the camera. Post more videos with ur photography in it manda i really love it. xoxo
She changed the F-stop which in case effected the exposure value. EV is effected only by shutter speed or aperture size, the aperture acts like your pupil, it widens to let more light in, and it narrows to let less light it. The greater the F-stop, the smaller the aperture, and vice-versa. The shutter speed will effect how long the image is exposed for. PS: ISO speeds effect the sensitivity, higher ISO will add more grain. For general purpose, 400 ISO is what is commonly used, 100 for daylight.
Hi beauty! i suggest that you don't use high iso because the pics get realy grainy. in low iso however the picture would be allot clearer(in day light of course). i'm using this camera for 2 month now and the only thing i hate about it is that it has only 3 focus points but other than that she's perfect. i want to write like you but a guy from Israel probably don't have much chance, but please tell me i'm wrong...
If you like to use the manual mode on the camera it would be helpful to brush up on the basics of photography in understanding the effects of f-stops, shutter speed and depth of field and proper exposure. I'm sure there are a lot of websites that you can learn this stuff for free. Anyway keep shooting away gorgeous.
About ISO setting, although it works to brighten up a picture, I don't really recommend doing that for this purpose, because the higher the ISO the more noise you get on your picture.
I would change the shutter speed to the faster instead of going up to the higher ISO. Or closing the aperture, or both.
Higher ISO settings are useful when you shoot in the dark, and you can't get a blur free picture.
Manda... that value... F is the aperture which is very useful, not only to change exposure, but above all you can "change" your DoF (Depth of Field)... This way you can tune the Bokeh effect, which means out of focus on the background... Try to zoom "T" at maximum... then turn F to lower value (for example 5.6 or lower), you'll get out of focus background much more then if you shot at f/22 (that's just an example)...
Anyway, you got a lovely smile there.:))

You are doing well, sorry for correcting you.

Stuff quality. 400 ASA is fine for most situations and outputs, especially on your camera.
Digital mean freedom, don't listen to the quality maiden aunts in their rocking chairs with their needlepoint.

Hi Manda. You said,
"All the pictures I were taking..."
Don't you mean,
"All the pictures I was taking..."
or,
"All the pictures I took..."?
BTW, this comment isn't a knock, it's a genuine response to the line 'so teach me something..' in your profile. ;o)
