It's set during the future in a apocalyptic setting. And in the Hunger Games they have these survival games were children are chosen to fight to the death. There's a movie coming out that's based on the first book, which will be shown in theaters of March. If you Wikipedia the Hunger Games you'll get a lot more information about it
