I also find it very strange that these days many Scots look at Bonnie Prince Charlie as a hero. Burns wrote this tune in 1791 in support of the British Government and a warning against Jacobite'ism during the French Revolution. There was a major purge in Scotland at the time as the government, reacting to the spread of French Revolutionary doctrines, attempted to eliminate any supporters of such doctrines in Scotland. Political Correctness is one of the biggest cons ever perpetrated upon an unsuspecting and rather gullible public. The Engerlish are world famous for their snobbery so don't try and weasel out of it. While, on the face of it, Burns appears to be anti Jacobite, the song is a bit misleading. I believe that he was in favour of an independent Scotland but he was shocked by the dreadful waste of life and suffering wrought upon the people of Scotland whenever they rose up in failed attempts to regain their FREEDOM, therefore he penned this song.

I also find it very strange that these days many Scots look at Bonnie Prince Charlie as a hero. The man was an idiot who destroyed his own Army placing it on ground that was totally wrong for it tactically. If your preaching an Independent Scotland like the SNP then you have chosen the wrong song for your anthem here. Burns wrote this tune in 1791 in support of the British Government and a warning against Jacobite'ism during the French Revolution. There was a major purge in Scotland at the time as the government, reacting to the spread of French Revolutionary doctrines, attempted to eliminate any supporters of such doctrines in Scotland. Im a Scottish Unionist and proud of it. Stay British.

The song choice has certainly proved divisive. Some people love it, some people hate it. But that's the whole point in the video: to stimulate the viewer into a reaction. There's three pages worth of debate, discussion and thoughts. That in itself is an achievement. I stand by the song choice, however, but respect your opinion on the matter. The song choice was stimulated more by Robert Burns than the jacobites, however.

The Saltire is for all of Scotland - not just people who want independence.
Any attempts to misappropriate either the Union Flag or the Saltire for narrow nationalistic purposes will fail, simply because they have such broad appeal that they'll always be reclaimed by the majority.

Scotland would be in budget surplus to the tune of more than £800 million with a "geographical share" of North Sea revenues, official figures show. The USA is only going down the toilet because we the people let it happen.Stand up for yourself and don't be a bystander, it's a lesson I learned that wont depart me quickly.Only when you've tried your hardest and failed can you complain about the state of our country.
