@ral1334 It's not a direct quotation, hence no quotation marks. In the world of classical music it would be called a "Variation on a theme"; as in, something close... but meant to build on an existing theme, or composition rather than be exactly the same. I suppose it's not as common a concept in prose writing, but I did make the effort not to "Quote" directly.
@MARSHOMEWORLD not sure what you are meaning here, my response was not to do with quote marks but rather to do with the misquotation in your vid, HPL's poem Nyarlathotep proclaims 'I will tell the audient void' not the audient 'world' as your caption has it.
apologies if this response or something similar appears a couple of times, my browser is misbehaving and I am not sure whether my responses are going through or not.
@JaneDelawney It's not a direct quotation, hence no quotation marks. You'd be surprised how many satanic/occultist groups are in My homeland, Ireland. Even some old group to the west say they've been worshipping Cthulhi long before the scriptures of Lovecraft himself.
It is an overall nice video, though, I must confess, the usage of Hitler and other Modernized War footage makes it look more Political than what was probably meant to be. Also, when you post videos on youtube, you've sorta gotta expect the community to criticize it, otherwise, you shouldn't post it. And being arrogant and going "If you can't do better, be quiet" doesn't really further your cause, because really, the only thing you did was splice some scenes together.
@Wolven185 Thanks for a pretty smart observation. Good points; BUT: I wanted the iconography of 20th century warfare and manipulation. I've no problem with criticism and informed discourse, but not confrontational blathering by dolts who need art explained to them. I composed original music rooted in Middle Eastern motifs & integrated modern instrumentation, then blended existing & new footage selectively to convey an atmospheric mood. A bit more effort than "Splicing some scenes together".
Actually in the JRPG "Persona 2" Hitler IS in league with Nyarlathotep. Or rather, Nyarlathotep is using Hitler to achieve his own ends for humanity. Anyways, this video rocks.
@EryxSarnath When you've created something of your own to contribute to the far-reaching multiverse of Lovecraft's Mythos, we can compare notes. Till then; you're a troll.
Excellent! Yes, you've renewed my faith that there are still people out there who can interpret for themselves, and don't need their movies, music, art, etc spoon fed to them. The best art is interactive; requiring a degree of symbiosis with the viewer to make it come to life. Anyone who wants to debate it as a literal interpretation lacks imagination and the ability to actually have an educated viewpoint to bring to the exchange.
@MARSHOMEWORLD That's horribly flawed logic. A person who knows the source material does not need to make a video himself to know things about the character. A person who doesn't know anything about the source material could make a video and still not know what he was talking about.
@TheFingerbuns Opinions in and of themselves do not require the investment of time, effort, skill or work ethic. What someone "could" do means nothing. What one has acomplished does.
While that is true, just saying you have the ability to create does not make you an expert on a topic. I can draw an atom, but that doesn't make my word on it more valid then someone who, let's say, is an expert in that sort of science.
@TheFingerbuns On the contrary; I am the only expert on what the source material and characters mean to ME in MY film. As processed thru my vision, rendered by my actions. What it means to someone else is interpretive, as art should be. Coming to me to spoon them "meaning" is beyond lazy; it's just sad. Likening either of these 2 (now 3 really) confrontational brainiacs here to "experts" aka: Atomic physicists, is irony personified.
@MARSHOMEWORLD ok, listen please. This male, or female upholds the "right" to art, weather it be right or wrong can only be discussed by him or her. Yes you are right though, this random view of what he believes Nyarlathotep is wrong in many ways, but neither you nor i can tell him openly about it, for it is his view on the subject. We can willingly tell people of their faults, but changing their mind set is almost impossible. Now then, i will side with you on this one
You are (almost ) correct sir!!! I wish I had a prize to offer for keen observational skills. The footage of the beheading, etc...is unused outakes from Anubis (aka: Ancient Evil 2) which David Kann also directed.
" He speaks as a man speaks, but his voice has the coldness that lies between the stars, and few wish to hear his sardonic laughter, for then there will be death. Men are to him as playthings to a child - to be taken up for a time, then abruptly cast away and trodden into the earth. Even so, he teaches great mysteries to those who worship him, but always leading to evil works, for he delights in wickedness." Necronomicon, The Wanderings of Alhazred. Donald Tyson
In Lovecraft, Abdul Al Hazred was a black magician who wrote down secrets he wasn't supposed to in the "Kitab Al Azif" (later called the Necronomicon) and was devoured on the streets of Mecca by an invisible demon.
The story may be based on a true story from Egypt regarding a Bedouin magician who vanished along with his entire house in the 9th Century.

Certainly horismoku, I'm glad to help. I read about this magician "Al-Arab" in a book called "Oriental Magic" by Idries Shah, in his chapter on Arabic Magic.
