I got my information from the Law Dept at the Library of Congress. NO candidate OR elected official is given a background check unless and until they request security clearance. There was a different law in effect when his 18 yr old mom gave birth to him. Since one parent was not a citizen, in order for Obama Jr to have citizenship, his mom would have had to live in the US for 10 years - 5 after the age of 14 at the time of his birth in order for Obama Jr to have automatic citizenship. That would mean that she'd have needed to be 19 when he was born. Furthermore, he may have Indonesian citizenship which also would negate his eligibility.
