  • dang johnny pissoff sure has me feelin' all pissed off.

  • You really had to have lived in those times to fully appreciate what the Fugs were doing and saying! There was an illegal war going on, there were peace freaks and war mongers like Johnny Pissoff! For all you youngsters, this is a war protest song and a protest song against anyone whose an asshole! R.I.P. Tuli and thanks Mr. Sanders for putting it in words! P.S. I've got an old Budweiser clock that spins around and a collection of George Dickel Sour Mash bottles too!!

  • lmmfao...love this song

  • The lp version sounds so much better, same version. why does this sound so bad?

  • man, times were different back then that's for sure.lot's of fun but really different.

  • Being 40, I just laugh too. Anyone who has fun can just get that shit on, I suppose.

  • its about hippies listen to the song

  • being only 19, i dotn get half of what they say because im taking it is more of a " of that era" type music, but dude theese guys are just too funny either way lmao i love em

  • And I have had the album since it came out in 1969.

  • Nicemeanman is such an idiot that he cannot understand satire. Ed Sanders is making fun of narrow-minded insecure assholes like Nicemeanman. Sanders and the Fugs dressed the same way as the man that Pissoff beat up, so Sanders was obviously not trying to encourage such behavior.

  • i was but 6 years old when this came out. my life was forever changed. A poignant and hilarious song about FAGBASHERS. could this gem still be the ONLY FUCKING ONE???? Pissoff!!

  • @peterchoyce he had another version johhny pissoff meets the red angel on the fugs album it crawled into my hand a big production like the mothers of invention a group from new jersey the asian flu used to perform this song they became the scance brothers and were on the mike douglas show and in concert

  • @peterchoyce It's not really about fagbashers, it was a redneck's take on long hair and hippies in general. He just referred to them as queers because that's what the general public thought of long hair.

  • @overbrookXXX Oh this is about gaybashing alright, if you hear the rest of this record on Warner/Reprise " Big Ball" ( the album starline mentions below), Johnny says he did it because he saw the guy hanging around the boy scout convention.

  • OK that's your take. But the intention wasnt gay bashing. It was long hair/hippy clothing bashing. I know nothing will convince you if your bent and fixed on gay rights all the time. But that WASN'T the original target here. He was linking long hair with BEING gay.

  • @psakref One last thing. In 1969, gay bashing/gay rights/gay anything wasnt even being discussed, debated, or controversial.

  • @overbrookXXX That's right. Of course, we knew gay people were around and accepted by true peace-and-love hippies, but they pretty much kept to themselves exactly because of all the Johnny Pissoffs that were more than willing to express themselves upon them. There was very little in the way of legal repercussions against these jerks, either. Many Johnny Pissoffs were cops. Ed wrote a brilliant piece of satire here, in true speaking-truth-to-power Celtic Bardic Tradition.

  • hey you think similar to me

  • The Big Ball was a Warners Brothers promo record. Does anyone know if it is available on CD??

  • I found this in the early 70's on a Paramount promotional album but unfortunately it got sold off by my ex-wife.

  • To "Nicemeanman-----You are truly one of the biggest idiots to ever have been born to a human being

  • Penny loafers and purple bell bottoms are why this country is so fucked up

  • God is acid

    Coffee Coffee Coffee Coffee

  • Thank you! I had this on a vinyl album that melted and then I had a hell of a time finding it online for awhile. It's a classic!

  • Your posting is either hopelessly obscure satire or king-hell irony...

  • Sanders is brilliant as both a poet and a satirist. His work with the Fugs was hilarious. In the documentary "Poetry in Motion" he is the highlight in a great collection of performing poets from the 80's. Still, the album from which this piece came, "Sanders' Truck Stop," is his finest hour.

Even more hilarious than Sander's parodies, though, are the morons who don't recognize or understand his irony and therefore cheer him and Johnny for their brave stand. Nothing funnier than not getting it.

  • I have this on Vinyl, but the first time I heard it was on a Warner brothers promotion called Big Ball. Captain Beefheart and Wildman Fisher were also on this album.

  • Yes..the Iliad! My friend had this on a "cut outs" album in the seventies, and we used to rehearse and memorize it. good laughs! Offensive? Well, my friend is gay, and it has something to say about rednecks and bigots, dontcha think.....

  • The song is actually called "The Illiad". It's a shame that is is cut off half way through. Sanders is a genius. I laugh every time I hear this.

  • You are one stupid motherfucker.

  • I'm fittin' to upload Jimmy Joe the HippyBilly Boy. Speakin of Dickel Brothers, that is located not far from me.

    BB

  • he had a huuge protest button on that said God Is Acid...

  • and that really pieeeesseeeddddd me off

  • Ed Sanders the kid? or The bald guy??? Im not listening to the song till I know..lol

  • Nice to have this on youtube but why not the whole song? it ended with johnny pissoff trying to rationalize his violence and rabid homophobia, and panicking as he realized he couldn't...

  • The `Johnnys` of the world already understand what they like and what they don't like about anyone who they consider faggots. And they damned well understand how to use their tempers to their utmost benifit. What they DON`T need is another fairy-assed petunia telling them they should look away when the queers come marching towards their Boy Scout hall. Funny. The Boy Scouts hall. You queers wanted in there pretty darned bad the last time I heard! Ed hit the nail on the head there, at least.

  • Love it, havent heard this in years, too bad it wasnt "polaroid spread shots" but thats ok, I hope it is on Amazon, im buying one today...

  • How cool to hear Ed Sanders again. I have been looking for his album "Sander's Truckstop" for years and years. This is a real treat, thank you!

  • why i call this ed sanders?

  • This is now available as a CD on Amazon!!!!!
