Hi, Have you tried to slow down the locate speed as it approaches the locate point with a "fast forward" or "rewind" command, then at "0" command a "stop" ..
You may also think of putting 10 count marks for the reel sensor,, keep the first 10 counts hidden from the LED counter and just display the count synchronization with the Revox mechanical counter? An accurate stop point would result when reel is packed full of tape.
Pause - sorry, I meant a pause lock. Good for recording etc. Of course the standard pause is fine, but it's a three finger play to select record with pause held prior to start record.
It will definitely NOT work through the dust cover, because the sensor needs to be very close to the reel (2-5 mm). The whole thing will probably come as a DIY kit (except for some complete assembled units). It is prepared to make the sensor "remote". It should be even possible to hide the whole circuit inside the deck.
A pause function could be implemented in software, but I see no reason - why? Stop/Play/Rec switching is very, very fast.
@tovamark1 Sadly you can't, yet. It's still a work in progress. The hardware is basically finished, but the software still needs some work. I will keep you updated!

Love it - I will keep watching for the final version.
Three ideas if I may - make sure that the sensor works through the standard Revox dust cover.
Make the sensor remote (or having an extension socket to allow a remote sensor).
Have you included a pause lock? That may not be possible without internal changes (I've not looked at the logic controls) but it would be great too.
What's the best place for tracking your progress?

I think you will be amazed when you see the TRACK (!) locator working, as well as the VU ... it is still some work to do.
I'll try to bring it out as a commercial (not expensive) DIY-kit!
