  • Nice Vid bro...

  • @ cobus : your expression at 06:08 shows ,You don't need everything but colourful ,i hope you will take this greatest opurtunity to the highest extent of learning with one of the greatest Drummer and inspire from your own video by just watching him.

    Regards,

    Amit

  • @cobus: very talented drummer but some how i don't understand his rendition to this entire jam.

  • que lixo man o cobus toca mas akele karinha parece do tempo das pedra

  • I can feel the pressure just from watching cobus lol:-)

  • i like terry bozzio's drum set

  • Could anyone tell me what the two bigger drums are in the middle of Bozzio's set up? The ones he uses the hammer sticks with.

    @ Cobus

... Hey dude.. Huge fan! I have watched your stuff from the beginning. It's awesome to se how you have progressed as a drummer! Love that your holding your faith too!

    God bless

  • Could anyone tell me what kind of drums terry was using with the hammer sticks? Two bigger ones basically in the center of his set up.

@Cobus.... Dude... Huge Fan! Watched you from the very beginning. It's awesome to see how you have developed as a drummer. I love that you're sticking with your faith too!

    God Bless dude

  • It doesn't matter how you become famous, or how famous you are. You can be amazing if you practice and put the effort it. Cobus has done that, and if you can't see that from his videos and his passion then you need to reconsider what you consider to be great.

  • Terry doesn't even look at Cobus. He's all like "You just follow my lead, kid" xD This was an awesome jam I liked it.

  • Cobus looks like a little chicken lol... he looks with fear to terry bozzio...

  • cobus.- justin beiber of the drumming world.

  • this is so chill...fuck yeah

  • That percussion set up is nice.

  • i like cobus

  • i've watched some of bozzio's videos, m not saying that he's not good. but it's not something i would listen to. then, cobus came along.... i just love how he is able to blend in with bozzio's style and make this piece worth listen to over and over again. =)

  • One this Cobus did well is giving Terry breathing room when its absoulutely necessary.

But Cobus needs to approach with more dare when its his time to do his solo cause I'm not seeing the strong Cobus I saw on the videos on his channel.

In this video, he was simply playing it safe; he really just went for the grooves that he felt safe, which is a very easy trap many drummers fall into.

Nice to see Cobus in this video, but he could've done more by taking more risks.

  • @fjjvjjdsdfw I agree he really just sat in his comfort zone, he didn't burst out or go crazy, which when you are drumming/jamming with someone like terry I think you need to

  • 05:06 Cobus is a genius (L)

  • @Jacobytown69 every second drummer does that hahaha

  • and some people say that Justin Bieber is a drummer, ha

  • que bosta em que aprender a tocar

  • terry bozzio is never gonnna play with a normal drumset....

  • Cobus isn't a very technical player, but he certainly showed he can groove.

  • Truth shirt... DW set... Great Brands!

  • at 4:16 what kind and size of china is he hitting?

  • @hunter17825 looks like a 20 inch one

  • cobus respected bozzio too much, not that he doesnt deserve it, buts thats the main reason cobus didnt shine

  • Well its clear that Bozzio isnt trying hard, and the other guy (sorry but i didnt know him)just complement with him in a few parts. all in all I liked the jam. Good for that "little drum boy"

  • @zappfripp that "little drum boy" is cobus hes one of the biggest and most talented youtube drummers.

  • @jjmxbox360 thanks for the information, he´s really good peace peace

  • @jjmxbox360 exactly.."youtube drummer" this guy is a little drummer in the world of the professionals. and if u disagree its just showing how naive you are.coz its the simple truth.so go ahead.and try and say the opposite.

  • @trecoolmania im not sure if your a troll or just plain stupid.

  • @trecoolmania He hasn't even been playing drums for 10 years and he is doing a drum duet with Bozzio. So how is your drumming career going?

  • Cobus blended so well with Terry's playing. That's what I salute a lot and now get inspired from.

If I remember watching MP playing with Terry, now I get pissed off (honestly).

  • two of my favorite drummers

  • bozzio's black headed conga jiggles like a fine fat ass

  • What's the xylophone-woodblock-marimba combo that Terry's got called?

  • cobus who?

  • precussion central

  • I'm with the Tim on this. Legendary status can only be earned, I don't think Cobus is there, ...yet.

  • @LandyachtzKid

Im GLAD Cobus inspires drummers so do a LOT of drummers Even I have been accused of that LOL

a LEGEND status has to be earned.Cobus is a good player a GENIOUS at marketing.

    Terry has EARNED THE TITLE.

Ill keep an eye on Cobus to see if he earns the title LEGEND.

as I said before even he must laugh when kids call him a LEGEND.

    Tim

  • @TimWaterson hey Tim! HUGE fan of what you do, YOU got me started on heel-toe! :) regarding "legend" status: yes, that's crazy. I feel uncomfortable when people mention my name in the same sentence as the greats. I think in a smaller context it becomes personal (ie. somebody might be a "legend" to ME, personally) and so much more subjective. that said, "legendary status" is NOT something I ever set out to achieve or something I need, I'm just a normal dude that LOVES playing drums.

  • @cobus

COBUS great to hear from you Thanks for the kind words and congrats on the success.

I knew you were NOT taking the legend thing seriously. And No offence was meant I just want drummers to search more in the past to learn about drummers of the future.

To me you look like like you have a passion for drumming as well.

Glad the heel toe is working for you.Maybe ill see you at NAMM not sure if i can make it this year but im working on it

    All the best

    Tim

  • @TimWaterson

Legend can be interpretted in different ways, here in include it's said quite casually and it wouldn't suprise me if it was the same elsewhere, I don't think we have to take someone calling him a legend too literally - he's extremely good at what he does, that'll do for me. I don't care for how famous he is - that plays no roll in how good he sounds on a kit.

  • @TimWaterson i was so ready to agree with you, then i realised you spelled genius wrong.

    close but no cigar

  • @LandyachtzKidd

STOP giving a kid a LEGEND Title .

Terry has EARNED the Title Cobus is becoming famous through youtube and thats good for him but seriously even Cobus must laugh when you guys call him a legend.

  • liam neeson on percussion??

  • I liked Terry ever since" Missing Persons" he's just a genius!

  • Terrys toms look like there from jurassic park

  • real eargasm!!!!!! \m/

  • sehr, sehr geil...

  • Comment removed

  • @jordanjcm so true so true I hate the way he drums, to me it just doesn't sound good, people are probably goin to be pissed at me too haha

  • @jordanjcm Yeah, he doesn't really like play drum beats, he just beats toms in random rhythms, honestly, it's something that anyone who can keep a beat could do. I know exactly what you're saying about his ridiculously large drum set, it's...it's just not necessary, at all. The only reason this sounds cool is because Cobus is playing with him. Terry's crap without another guy. The three of us; you, me, and jjake0977 are gonna stick together and defend each other when people decidd to yell at us.

  • @whatup917 LOL. People will yell. For some reason people defende this guy like he is some amazing drummer. He really plays NOTHING that is enjoyable to listen too. LOL This video is a bad example because it has Cobus making it sound good. You could check out so many Bozzio vids though, and its like "what the hell is that guy doing?, somebody boot him off the drums" ! People try and defend him and talk about the "technical" shit he does. Come on!, If it sounds bad, it sounds bad.

  • @jordanjcm Yeah, yeah, I know exactly what you're saying and I completely agree with you. Haha. Like that big ass drum solo he did at that clinic with that retarded drum set, that didn't sound like anything at all. Just sound like shit.

  • @whatup917 not yelling man, i simply just like his playing. Would I ever want to play anything like that, no, but I still find it interesting. Its all preference but i mean that is a topic that's been exhausted on youtube to the point that i dont care when someone doesnt like a drummer. I do understand where you guys are all coming from and can understand why you wouldnt like his drumming.I guess im trying to say that i cant stand it when people give you guys flack and shit about not liking him.

  • @whatup917 just a fresh perspective so you know that not everyone is a dick about you guys not liking a certain muscian. what some people think sounds like art and just fucking immaculate others think just sounds like a bunch of organized noise and bullshit. cat meow whaddup.

  • @jordanjcm Woah! easy there hungry bear! Think of it this way:

Dreams inside your head are not the same as real life? yes?

    Try to stay with me

It follows then that anything that is INSIDE your head is not necessarily comparable to things outside of it. So your Idea of this... objective and complete definition of "GOOD DRUMMING" is merely an opinion inside your head and should not be confused with reality.

    I hope this helps,

    Sincerely, your friend

    Critical Thinking

  • Comment removed

  • @ChrisBurling42 P.S. I love how you say "stay with me". ROFL Also, telling me that what I said was "merely an opinion" has GREATLY displayed your MARVELOUS GRASP OF THE OBVIOUS. Priceless. Is this what your thinking now? : "golly gee I really though I put that guy in his place by telling him that what he says is not a "fact". I even used a super complex exlanation of how dreams are not real. I even called myself; critical thinking." Pop a zit and go do something.

  • @jordanjcm I just fail to see what you're hopping to accomplish by repeating your opinion dozens of times on the same video. Are you hoping a bunch of us will see the error of our ways and stop liking Bozzio's playing? Typically when you're going to be critical of something you say your piece and then leave, so that you don't completely clog up the comment section with your nigh incomprehensible babble; just trying to save you some time brother...

  • @ChrisBurling42 You fail to see what I am trying to accomplish ? ROFL ! 2 comments won't clog anything up. LOL. 2 until you came along. You see, nothing is ever really "accomplished" on youtube. It is not a place to spend your life. People just type opinions and people like you get offended, and/or feel the need to "one up" others because they are lacking something, or are angry with their former bullies, and it eases their pain to point there anger towards stangers.

  • @jordanjcm It's far from two comments... I'd spent about half an hour watching different Bozzio videos and you had at least one of the same basic comment on each... If you hate him so much, why are you watching so many of his videos?

    and as far as anger is concerned, I'm perfectly calm- you're the one making unfounded assumptions about me.  I'll respectfully withdraw at this point, cause you're a pretty sick drummer and it's plain we're not gonna agree on this so whatevs;

    take it easy.

  • @ChrisBurling42 Sorry it took me so long to get back. I have already apologized for my comments. I did basically say the same thing about him on a few of his vids. I repeat "not many people admit when they are wrong and/or say something stupid" I am not one of those people. I am not a hater and I appreciate all styles. I take it back. Peace. Truth be told. I have bi-polar. So I get in moods where everything I say is just plain RE DONK ULOUS. Cheers...

  • @jordanjcm Ask Cobus if Terry playing is not enjoyable.

If you dont understand Terry dont complain

not MANY drummer that can entertain both drummers and non drummers for 2 hours and have people enjoy the show.

  • @TimWaterson I have made several comments and now that I have read them all I realize I do not make much sense. I can't take them back now. LOL. I just am NOT a huge fan of his style and I should have said NOTHING. Thats the one thing about youtube. If you make comments in a hurry and/or dont think long enough about what you are saying you are stuck with it. Not many people will admit when they are WRONG. I am NOT one of those people. He is, who he is for a reason.

  • @TimWaterson Cont.... I see so many haters put down other musicians and I wish I did not do that. In fact I am embarrassed by them. Plain and simply embarrassed by them. Peace.

  • i know cobus is very solid. not great though. good for him for being able to jam with one of the greatest drummers in the world. but, he didn't really do bozzios playing justice when it was needed. the feeling of certain parts, that bozzio was persuading. eh.

  • Cobus - not so good even like a time-keeper for the great Bozzio.

In fact Bozzio rulez, when he left space to Cobus to "talk" Cobus did nearly nothing, Bozzio instead put creativity, groove and passion.

    Jist my opinion, of course.

  • @baorozzo bozzio had made his life playing cobus is still not experienced as the great bozzio

  • 6:11 :D

  • If you can watch if more than 1 minute without hitting the floor with your feet and your desk with your fingers, you are not a drummer... or... you've got a HUGE self control :-D

  • @thestraws haha i read floortom instead of floor :D

  • Cobus Potgieter And Travis barker Drum-Jam

  • this is a drummer.... look at the respect cobus shows towards terry bozzio

  • is it me or does terry kinda look like a younger version of that old Saw guy?

  • like

  • awesome account name!!

  • 1:49 was not a fail

  • dont like it`s cra p

  • did you practiced all that or is just improvisation?

  • cobus captured the feel and rhythm and style soooo perfectly

  • This is like putting the best high school basketball player in Alaska against the entire American Olympic squad. Sorry.

  • good one =D

  • cobus has done really well for himself

  • lol when Cobus wonders what that sound is, turns his head slowly, and smiles at 6:10 ;p

  • can ANYONE tell me the specs on Bozzio's kit? i'd love to build a kit like that.

  • relaxing B)

  • amazing!!!!

  • From all the drum jams i've seen with terry bozzio, honestly, only cobus bothers to play along with bozzio's style, the others just overplay and show off

  • @FrozenInadequateness I agree 100%, glad to see a drummer working with Terry on this one!

  • @FrozenInadequateness Too true, just think if they made an album together. D:

  • @FrozenInadequateness That's call a harmony~~ : )

  • @FrozenInadequateness coz the others are famous and cobus is only known by dumb kids on youtube who think hes great

  • @drumdemon3 of course a great drum demon like you could play better than him. I'm sorry, they're making music, not competing. Get that right. Technicality has nothing to do with it. Don't even talk about popularity. In terms of skill, people like you probably love FAMOUS drummers like joey jordison or travis barker who get props for doing rolls and nothing else. Oh and just by the way, FAMOUS drummers like Jojo majer, stanton moore or chad smith don't show off either in jams. MindFucked broD:

  • @FrozenInadequateness Halpern who is an exception is just kinda his own deal, but yeah I'd have to agree with you everyone else kinda not. I haven't watched to see if BIlly Cobham jammed with him, if so I guarantee you their styles would mesh.

  • @FrozenInadequateness /watch?v=QwBQMiCE-hI&feature=relmfu

    Try again.

  • yea its a tongue drum

  • @mildlyconfundeled - I think it's a tongue drum, but i'm not certain...

  • does anyone know the name of the instrument terry was playing from 6:10 - 6:25

  • 1:49? fail???

  • @queztion7 They´re humans....

  • @queztion7 nawww....as my old music teacher said. "if you make a mistake, its just a new unexpected part of your solo"

  • @queztion7 Yes, indeed it is possible for famous drummers to "fail."

  • @queztion7 everyone messes up

  • I was liked the video before playing the it :D

  • Awesome! X
