The sound isn't coming out of the ipod speaker, I have my earphone right up against the microphone on my video camera.

In my other video demoing the skype app it has an option where the ipod speaker can be turned on when the mic/earphone are still plugged in

I'm having the same problem like Raytheon117X. I first bought a black one, but it said that no microphone detected. Audio passed through the ear buds but the mic didn't work. So i decided to buy another one off of ebay from another seller. A white one and the same thing is going on. Is there like a button to turn on the mic or something besides the one in the middle.

as long as u have wifi they shudnt unless its long distance but you start out with a bit of money

you can pay for unlimites calls and stuff on the go if you want for about $17 and it doesnt cost much at all

I bought a few different types to try, a couple rubber cases which weren't too great.

The case in the video fits perfectly, dust does manage to find it's way behind to case so I had to clear it once a month.

I don't currently use this case, I have a belkin leather case which is good but light sensor is blocked of .

But the best thing I've bought lately is a BestSkinsEver to cover my touch, no more scratches, and greasy fingerprints

recommend you install the free version of Quickvoice

plug in your headphone mic, launch Quickvoice, press record, tap on mic and see if the sound meter rises to prove the mic works

Tried the new Skype application on my touch with the mic shown in the vid and it works great.

What I also like about this Skype app is that you can use the touch speaker to hear if you don't fancy using the earphones

most of the ipod mics come with a built in splitter so that u have your headphones in and listen with those... if u dont have your headphones plugged in, then it reverts back to speakers

I do iPod stuff myself and i was checking in on truphone today. One thing I would like to tell you all is.. if you have an iPod touch 1g it will not work. Only 2g. That's probaly why he did it with a 2g even though i don't see why he needs the microphone.

These mics work with the 2nd generation of the touch. If you have a 1st generation then it won't work. If you have a 2nd gen then you may just be unlucky to have bought a duff mic, suppose it's to be expect since they're sold so cheaply on ebay

Different programs do not recognize microphone present, and when I'm trying to record something - only silence...

What firmware do you have on your iPod?

Mine is 2.2.1 - the latest.

Maybe Apple did something in new softwafe to prevent use of cheap stuff and force to buy only expensive genuine Apple mics for 50€?

Alot of the mics advertised for 2g are in fact iphone mics, they'll work ok.

I understand proper mic/earphones for 2g have support for volume control.
