is this on the easiest mode in the game? because I've done the exact same thing, just as fast, and they always break through halfway through pushing the first armoire and kill me. wtf am i supposed to do? i've tried using morphine to keep going... doesn't help. I'm on the difficulty right after easiest. didn't think it would cockblock me like this.

i had to do this more than 10 times until i got it right . And once i failed because of a bug : After 5 or 6 tries the door was already destroyed during the cinematic , so the Townsfolk actually were already in my room when the action started and they of course stabbed and shot me right in front of the bed , then my PC crahed ... But i have to say that this is still one of the best games you can play despite its flaws !

I didn't take my time to figure out what to do, die and try again next time... I just didn't want to know what would happen if they caught me! It's one of my top 5 games of all time.

I think it's not necesary using a patch. I tried that but for some reason the patch doesn't work in my computer (The game itself doesn't work very well... A few times It crashed with no reason. I think that's because I'm running it on Vista) The game is as fast as in the video. I think he isn't cheating. I passed it without a patch, so keep trying~ I had to try it like ten times

I enjoyed reading all the comments on this section of the game. I think this is the best part, I completely agree with everyone. :D I'm glad that I am not the only one that thought this was epic. From the constant problem solving, to the feeling of vertigo, to the constant threat of being lynched; this part was one hell of a ride and ordeal. Good stuff!

This scene is very suspenseful to play. But unfortunately, they've made it a step or two too far on the unfair side. Even for a practiced gamer, this stage is very hard - probably completely impossible to manage on the first few tries. Every step of the way, there's just one right (and often not obvious) thing to do, and at least three things you can (and probably will) do wrong and get yourself killed. Basically if you want to play without walkthroughs, you need to write your own walkthrough.

There's no distinct button for walking or running. But I can see as you play the game his movements are almost at an in between, perhaps to make it more frightening.

But while you can't go faster you can go slower. Depending on your insanity level. As you become more tense, you may start to walk slower and if a bullet hits your legs you will try moving and immerse yourself into the shaking camera in a limp.

Also make sure you're not croutched.

One of the most intense sequences in any game I ever played. Say what you want about the game's bugs and combat - but I haven't seen a game yet that brought a more intense, more LOVECRAFTIAN atmosphere to the gaming experience.

DW, if you're interested, see if you can find a copy of "At the Mountains of Madness and Other Tales". It's a great introduction to Lovecraft. Be warned - he does like his multisyllable words quite a bit.....
