  • Hi, what language does your son speak now. It is English or Italian or both.

  • Italian only...I don't think he could have chances to learn a new language..it would be too much confusion in his mind...

    ciao !

  • it begs the question, what did autistic people do before, say 100, 200, 300, 1000 years ago? And what has changed so much that they are now such a "problem"? Perhaps some of the greatest people in history were autistic, di angelo, van gogh for example, but now they don't fit in and must change... it's madness

  • i cried so much watching your boy's story. it was like watching the story of my own son's life. the only difference being....it took the French medical system YEARS to diagnose him correctly. if i had the money to settle back in the USA (i'm french/american/spanish), i WOULD...it makes me sad and angry. no one here ever talked to me about diets, ABA, Gluten, B12 or Tomatis; i did years of research and found about them by myself. if there was a way you could contact me ?

  • dear friend, often the diagnosis is not enough, you get the diagnosis..and that's all..no help, no assistance, no cure...here in Italy it is like in France...at the very end it's up to us, the parents, to find out a way to keep the hope alive.. and, be sure, You did it ! If you have questions don't hesitate to write to me...thank you and all the best for your son

  • You keep saying that your son has a problem when in actuality, his problem was our lack of understanding. Once you understood, you were able to help him learn our ways and cope in our world and you've probably learned to enjoy his, rather than be afraid simply because he is different.

  • Probably I showed too much of the good and said not enough of the still existing problems... For instance he is 8 years old, and still he is not able to write and read..

I don't think it is simply a lack of understanding, and mostly, we did not make the diagnosis by ourself...it was confirmed by all the doctors we have met....

  • not sure what to say. so much stuff out there in the autism realm thats misleading, including contraversial things like vitamins/medicine. im glad this kid got better. im sad nothing about ABA, Floortime, OT, ST, etc was mentioned, which im sure was 99% of what got him to where he is now. not to mention how much money someone needs to afford all that, much less the move to u.s.a

  • Basically I agree with you, the most of the results came from what it can be called "incidental floortime"... unfortunately in my Country is not so easy to find skilled therapists..and, I have to admit, it would be too expensive to have here official Aba or Floortime supervisors from the Uk or from Norway... so we had to do by ourself...I regret if we could have afforded that cost, we would have probably recovered 100% our son ....you know..that's life... :-((

  • Hi

I'm Robin 16 years old living in The Netherlands.

3 years ago a child psychiatrist diagnosted me with PDD-NOS.

Some images in this video look like my past till the day i'm living now.

  • Are you all sure that the term Autism, is accurate for both this child, and all others with the same sypmtoms? As any real Autistic will tell you, its not something thats cured with simple diet regimes and kiddies treatments.

I am suspicious of calling whatever it was that this and all these other children have, or had, as 'Autism'. I'd preferr to call it an Introverting Condition in children. Okay, there are the classic symptoms of Autism.

    But is it?

  • Well.. you know that autism is a large spectrum, I'm not sure too that the diet was "the solution"...I don't know...that was just the story of what we did, good things and may be mistakes or useless things, all together....may be we could even do in better ways...who knows...?

I know what the severe form of autism is ..I know that it is not what my son has..., Indeed in the slides I used the name of PDD-NOS...may be I will change the title too.. thanks and regards

  • I have tried suggesting a GFCF diet to my sister for her autistic child, She refuses. The kid lives on mostly nothing but bread. He 11, but looks like he's 5 - a very skinny 5. He does have special school, but nothing is targeting the physiological causes.

How can a kid survive on nothing but carbs? No fruit, no meat other than a bit of breaded chicken nuggets, no vegetables 0 just bread, chip, crackers and noodles.

    Hell! I'd shut down too!

  • My son has the same diet as your nephew, and is not skinny at all. I give him fruits only through juices. And he has improved a lot with real therapy, ABA, OT, PT, Special Ed, and zero magical diets. Some kids within the Spectrum have sensory issues and gag just at smelling or seeing food they dislike. Be less judgmental of your sister.

  • Haha, you story is very nice I cried. Autistic people are very very interesting

Good luck with Stefano, later on I hope you get good help, it's interesting what you can learn from autistic children, they have skills nobody can have, he seems to be an athletic child. That's very good and enjoy Stefano while you can! Once again nice story, it's VERY touching.

  • Wow. Your story gave me goosebumps and made me cry. It's a lot like our story too. My son is only a couple months older than Stefano. You could have replaced the photos with some of my family and the words could have been the same. (Except our son hasn't mastered riding his bike yet... Good for Stefano!!) I love the picture at 7:41, he's like Super-cool Boy. You have a gorgeous son and a gorgeous family. You should have called this "A Beautiful Face of Autism." Thank you.

  • beautiful child my son is 4 has the same disorder, when he was two we change his diet, we see a huge change, he was diagnosed last month but we feel confident on the future you video give much hope. Great job ! After read about it I realize that this kids are never going to be normal...they are better en many ways

  • you have a very cute son! :)
