  • A big THANK YOU for this video! My dog is super scared of slippery floors as well and I have really tried everything to get him to relax. It hasn't exactly been easy, but I will certanly try this method to build his confidence to the slippery floor.

  • I just got a new rescue Red Heeler and she's very scared of the bathroom. We've been using your technique and she can now come all the way in and put her nose on the side of the bathtub. Hopefully in the next couple weeks or so we can give her the bath she desperately needs :)

  • How would you get a small dog to get over the fear of large objects in general? I have 2 small dogs, and they are scared of anything large, even just a ballon.

  • Just starting out using youtube and your videos are one that I follow regular. Thanks.

  • way to go kiko 5 stars 4 bring a brave girl

  • you can clicker train cats.

  • Great video.I met you at Liberty Sta and U gave us a clicker 2 help get my dog's attn at the park...it works at home all the time, but not at the park. Here's my dilemma. My dog is afraid of vacuum clnrs, plastic bags (the sound they make when they're stepped on or balled up) and sudden movements. He loves walks, people, and other dogs. He is NOT motivated by food or praise and doesn't like affection. We don't know where to start with him. He's 2 1/2 rescue pit, akita, pointer.Had him 2 years.

  • DO all chihuhua's have no joints in their ankles?

  • I know this sounds stupid but can this work on cats?

  • @moomaddy Clicker training works on everything from dogs to elephants to hermit crabs to fish to, yes, cats. :)

  • I love your videos! You make it look so easy! I haven't found a treat that my Bichon feels enticing enough to work for! She just can't be bought for food or attention.

  • hey why dont you do a vid playing the piano????

  • If you lOVE DOGS and want to know more about their amazing history

go to(click) 2knowfun2 channel and watch the video: Dog History(The Evolution of Dogs)

Easy English (Simple English) is used in all videos. Complicated things will become easy to understand.

2knowfun2 provides great knowledge about everything

Also watch my other videos on my account 2knowfun2 thx a lot

  • WONDERFUL video! Great job. To think, she has no ankles on her hind legs and can still do such a great Celtic dance!!!!

  • Great training! This is a good video :)

  • Awesome video :) I thought Kiko walked funny sometimes now I understand why. The poor thing with no ankles. Did she have an accident?

  • question for you; how does splash know that those clicks are not for her? Isnt that something you should not do (click and then not reward)?

  • @Koreagrrl I have this same question and would very much like kikopup to do a video on it!

  • @Koreagrrl Yes, inquiring minds want to know how to achieve one well behaved observing dog who stays out of it while the other dog is getting all the fun. Does Splash get a reward for such respectfulness?

  • Check out the video I made a long time ago called 'how to get your dog to lay at your feet at a cafe'. You will see a part where I am working with kiko and reinforcing Splash for doing a settle. It might make more sense than a written explanation.

  • @kikopup What if neither dog is at the point where you can get a solid settle? :/ Would you advise seperating the dogs for traning at first and then bring them together at a later point?

  • @kikopup YEah, do you give Splash a treat after you have helped Kiko conquer her fear of crossing the kitchen floor? Because she had been lying there so quietly.

  • I love how this video shows that Kiko was so scared at the start and then built up and up :-) my brothers dogs don't like the hard floors in his house so I will have to show him this video. I'm jealous of how clean your kitchen floor is, mine is always caked in mud at the moment as the dogs keep rushing in and out of the garden. I also just have to say how much I like kiko, she is SO pretty :-)

  • straight to favourites it is a must your explanation of counterconditioning. And Kiko is ever so cute as always ;D

  • Great Video Emily Daisy Mae is Scared of the kitchen also she does not like Oven Fan she thinks once the fan goes on that the Fire alarm will go off. I got her now to stay in the living room calmly and she will eat at the entrance of the Kitchen. This one is taking some time but i am working hard with this one. I don't want her to make the other fearful of the oven fan either.

  • I used this same technique for sleet when she took an intense dislike for a burnt out car that suddenly appeared on our path we walk each day. The day after I did the CC and desensitization, we went the same way again and sleet went off in front. I found her already at the car with her front paws on it waiting for her click and treat....obvously it worked, haha.

  • how do you get Splash to not beg for treats while you are teaching kiko, and just stay where she is even when you're praising kiko? My dog gets up to get treats when i feed my other dog.

  • I just love to watch little Kiko. Thanks for posting Em, have passed this along to a friend whose dog is afraid of the stove because of the timer noise. Excellent vid!

  • Splash ( If I remember the name correctly) Just looks so bored throughout the video

  • What clicker do you use? I bought one and it stopped working within a week?

  • Great video with very helpful information! My chi, River tends to get fearful of certain things if she has one negative incident with it, so this will come in handy.

I have to say that I just love Kiko. She is just so elegant and adorable. I didn't know about her ankles though.

I'll be sharing this on Fbook!! Thanks!

  • Great video!! Love your video's. My dog James has a problem, he is in his puberty and suddenly is growling and snapping to some dogs. Not all. And also when he is on the lease he snaps at dogs, tries to bite them. What can i do?? I hate it that people think he is a mean dog, cause he is not. its hard for me to correct him when he is running loose. Runs to fast.

  • Excellent job Emily, you are such a pleasure to watch - just excellent

  • another great video emily! ***** but if you have two dogs and you're training them in a same room and when you click to a certain dog, wouldn't the other dog get confused whiether the owner is clicking for him or the other dog?

  • hey

First I have to say thank you for this video,it will be a big help with my problem! My dog has the same "nightmare", he makes himself slip when he goes off the carpet floor onto slippery wooden one (but this doesn't happen every time)..

I'm just curious, how many clicker lessons does it usually take? I guess it's a good idea to repeat this exercise daily, for how many days? Cause with my dog it's like: today he doesn't remember he's affraid, but tomorrow he's terrified. Thanx for the help!

  • My dog gets really excited when you come through the door, even if you've only been out for a minute, but it isn't too bad, he's just really affectionate, but sometimes he gets way to excited, and starts jumping on your, running around, and because there's laminate near the door, he always slips into stuff but doesn't stop him running. Any ideas on how to calm him down a bit when someone arrives home? Takes a good 5 minutes of him going crazy lol

  • This was also a nice one, Emily.

alway's enjoying watching your video's wether i need them or not!

  • emily, i loved that video. And I'm glad kiko isn't scared of the kitchen anymore. Good work. Is splash scared of anything??

  • First Id like to say thank you Kikopup for the videos. Theyre very informative. Also Ive been seeing a lot of comments around youtube, people saying the clicker is too loud. Well Im in the midst of getting a puppy and Ive already gotten a clicker from amazon called i-click. Its a new design made specifically to give off a quieter click than other clickers. I thought I would share just in case anyone wants one or hasnt heard of it they can check it out. Just go to amazon and search i-click.

  • nice 1!

  • Do you ever toss the food away from the scary area to use the "relief" as a reinforcement as well? Why/Why not?

  • Actually I did do that, but there was so much footage I edited it out. I also used her mat and put it down on the scary area as a trick to speeding up the process. I think it depends on the dog regarding throwing the treat away, if it works do it, if it doesnt try something else. I found with Kiko it didnt work well, because moving fast over the floor made her nervous. She started hanging back to where the treats were being thrown too. So I stopped quickly

  • what do you do if your dog is afraid of the clicker? i just bought a clicker and my australian sheperd acts very uncomfortable and scared when i try and train her with it. given, i'm only just starting to train her to associate the sound of the clicker with treats, but i feel like this could be problematic both because she didn't even act enthusiastic about her treats, and because she is scared of noises like that of the clicker.

  • @JDurbie That is really horrible, but sadly clickers are made to be super loud. I don't know why! Check out the beginning of Dogmantics Episode 1, it shows you how you can put poster tack on the dimple of the clicker to make it sound very quiet. Then you can start over. Perhaps click the dog from far away and toss the treat while the sound is barely audible, then decrease distance.

  • @JDurbie

When I first started working with the clicker I with my hand in my pocket so the sound wasn't that loud. Maybe you could try that, removing your hand just a little bit more from the pocket when she reacts good. Good luck!

  • would Splash be able to help? maybe walking back and forth over the scary area, to show Kiko there is nothing to be scared of?

  • Sadly I think Splash might be part of the reason Kiko is nervous in the kitchen in the first place. Sometimes Splash runs through the kitchen and Kiko goes scuttling and slipping and sliding to get of the kitchen when Splash is in there. But many times I use the dog that is not scared of something to show the other its ok. :)

  • Thanks

  • Great video! Poor little Kiko... ! what a sweetie.

  • That was awesome!

  • AWESOME VID and one that I need my dog has this fear of wetness as well wetgrass wetfloor I am going to work with her using the clicker dont know why I didnt think of it before ...I was trying to do it with soft talking and stuff like that but that wasnt working so thanks so much for this vid and I was so happy to see Kiko able to make it and look proud and happy that she did :)

  • My new puppy doesn't like wet grass either... We are working on it! :)

  • @MeekaLynn1968 Mine had a thing with water - he wouldn't walk through puddles but just seemed to grow out of it and now it's hard to keep him out of water! If still young perhaps yours will be the same. I didn't make a deal out of it and I guess he figured if I wasn't worried then there was no problem...not sure, but he's fine now. I don't know if your dog has an even bigger problem but I hope he gets over his fear and is soon enjoying swimming in ponds and paddling rivers too :)

  • wonderful tip! I'm sure this will help a lot of dogs. :) Keep it up!

  • You're a wonderful person! thanks for posting this video! Excuse the mistakes, do not speak English

  • Great video..... =)

Emm.. i have some troubles with my dog... he jumps on people when they come to pet him.... when we are at the park and I let him run, when i call him he just run away even when i have some treats, and also when he looks other dogs he start pulling on the leash..... please help......
