If you naysayers dont like it just dont buy one, the World at large doesnt care what you think.

  • As a geezer who is too old to ride my conventional UC anymore I love this, well done!

  • all for only 1499............. id buy a titanium nimbus street before that thing..........

  • Don't buy this and save yourself from looking like a complete retard :D

  • Is it motorized?

  • B.C Comics.

  • Im sorry but I could have looked more graceful on my STANDARD unicycle, this just defeats the purpose of the unicycle...

  • isnt a self balancing unicycle kind of defeting the fact that a ulicycle is a skill of balance on the riders sake not the tech?

  • Nothing beats walking, galloping or riding with the free air blowing around your ears and your perceptions unbarriered.

  • ...don't know what the helmet is for. I ride my unicycles without them and falling never means hitting your head. Even while learning, you always land on your feet.

  • Helmets dont just protect you from falling over, how about getting hit by a car...

  • LMAO, If you get hit by a car riding a unicycle, then you shouldn't be allowed to walk down the street without wearing a helmet. Seriously, if you get hit by a car, a helmet will protect your head but not your body. Only extreme stunt riders wear helmets and rightfully so. For most of us, esp. freestyle riding and general riding (such as this video), a helmet is pretty pointless. Besides, the guy is riding in a warehouse and on a BIKE PATH--I don't see any cars. 8^D

  • @joejumps4fun unless your doin huge drops, sometimes it gets away from you and flings you down.... shit hurts........

  • You know what would be even cooler than trying to make even more Americans fat, lazy dorks? Adding all the other things I hate to it:

    - A REALLY loud horn

    - Golf

    - Frisbee

Here goes...Fat lazy asshole air horn disc golf! Yesss.

Make sure it's urban so I cannot escape it. And use up some really nice park space or, better yet, some existing bike trails! Oh man, I am really onto something.

    Can't wait!!!

  • If you're gonna hate, at least make it funny.

  • i love the music choice! What is it?

  • Music by Album Leaf, Micro Melodies

  • This was on Planetizen with caption "Bicycles are Sooo Last Year". I didn't really understand the title, maybe it should have been "Bicycles are Sooo the Last 100yrs and They're Still Relevant".

  • Hmmm this has been done although this version is much more streamlined than the last one I saw. Great job modding those Torker LX's guys! I still would rather shell out that same price for a geared hub rather than a unicycle that takes the challenge out of unicycling... great novelty though.

  • this is cool but i would rather ride a normal unicycle with cranks

  • Nothing is better than learning how to do something that is difficult and challenging. This is a cool device, but it takes away the whole aspect of unicycling.

  • Weak...try a real unicycle!

  • totally rad this one is, love it!

  • I think my only doubt with it is that if you want to learn a unicycle why not go through the challenge of riding a normal one? It's a lot cheaper and I would say more fun. Don't get me wrong, I think that is a brilliant piece of engineering, but I still don't see the point when normal unicycles are just as good for cheap. And lets face it, you wouldn't exactly want to do trials on that thing would you.

  • I'd buy one if I could afford it...I already own just about every single kind of unicycle type there is, just no electric one yet!

I've also been waiting for this to come out on the market since he first developed it.

  • From the FAQ: "It's about half as easy as riding a conventional unicycle." Odd use of English, but I think that means it's even harder to ride than a normal unicycle, and that is quite hard. I also suspect that's not what the author *meant* to say.

  • Now it says:

It is much easier to learn compared to a conventional unicycle. The average user needs only twenty minutes to two hours of practice before he/she can have a decent first ride. The SBU is a rider-assist machine, a combination of the rider's balance and SBU control.

  • Responsive company. A VERY good sign!

  • Seriously though, who is that song by?

  • Whats that song tho!! i want it!

  • It's the Album Leaf's "Micro Melodies"

  • Thank you!

  • Fuck yeah this is epic! I want one!

  • How well does it work on rough surfaces?

  • It works great anywhere you would ride a conventional unicycle. I ride mine on sidewalks, bike lanes and grass if I'm careful.

  • This is pretty cool. I kind of want one, I hope they get affordable sometime.

  • They have 10 of them for sale on their website for $1500 each. That's too much for me, but a lot less than $6000 for a Segway.

  • I was actually kind of surprised that they were only $1500. I saw a guy a while back that built one of these himself, and posted everything he used, and the total for that was also $1500. I figure they could get the parts a little cheaper if they buy in bulk, but they still can't be making a ton of money on these, which means they get my respect for not charging over twice what it costs to build, like Segway does.

  • Why would you want one as opposed to a segway? Unicycles are ridiculously uncomfortable to ride for more than ten or so blocks.

  • It's a little uncomfortable at first, but you get used to it. You can't take your segway on the bus or carry it upstairs. The SBU weighs only 25 lbs. Plus it's a LOT cheaper.

  • That's true; and I suppose since you aren't pedaling you can take more weight off of your groin, unless that messes with the balance, which I doubt.

  • cool! The environment could heavily benefit from this.. great job!

  • Segway with one wheel

  • Awesome!

  • Awesome invention! Wow! No peddling!

  • There's more information at Focus Designs' website. See the video description for details.

  • What a feat, great job creating this!
