The last aborted takeoff I was on was a Fokker F100 at Cleveland. It was pouring rain and the tower reported an animal or vehicle crossed onto the runway. The Captian came back and talked to us while waiting for the brakes to cool and to get the brakes and tires inspected. He said the order came about 1 second before V1. He stopped the plane from about 140 Knots and I don't think he used thrust reversers as I never heard the engines spool up during braking. Amazing how hard it braked.
At least it was on the ground... I woulda freaked if I woulda been on n the got it to start up and were gonna take off in that plane. I woulda made them kick me off
@123monrra just some reassuring words. Even if it happened just before you lift off you are perfectly safe. There is a safety rule. During take off the speed is called out at 80 knots and at V1. V1 means that the plane is travelling too fast to stop on the runway, but it's going fast enough even to take off with 1 engine. You wouldn't climb as hard as you usually would, but you will climb, turn around and land again.
I dont want to make a fight or a big deal,I just wanted to ask if you are a pilot why in economic class?sorry for asking but pilots earned alot of money and if they work for the same company their flight is free, well probably your not a comercial pilot.sorry to bother my friend
pilots do not earn shit these days. besides, EVEN if you are a 25 year captain with a payrate to reflect that, it costs the airline less to deadhead you in a coach class than bumping off the potential to sell a first class seat.
NO prob merry Christmas buddy. Im a steward and I guess at the time I wrote it I was just sitting here thinking that a pax that has an electronic device on the steeward/ness can get in serious trouble here up to 1001.00 worth of personal fines

No offence but do you know by having an electronic device in flight can cause you to get a fine up to 30,000.00 I know cause if I was the one working the flight you would have gotton one buddy.
Hello, I know how that works, thanks for the advice, Im a Pilot, and I understand theres "0" risks doing that... Plus this was Colombia, and the Colombian flight Rules are very diferent, but after all, believe me, a Digital Camera does nothing to the comunication systems of the airplane, if this was a Cellular, telephone, ther is some risks, but not with a Digital camera, Thanks any way and merry christmas.
@icunurse01 In flight attendant school do they just tell you the rules without explaining them? Do flight attendants ever wonder why you can use devices as soon as you land and are off the runway but cant when taxiing out? You're still on the same airfield with a bunch of other planes... you're still in a plane.. what's the real difference?
Actually, there was not so scarying. Engine failure was evident since the first phase of the spool-up, and the plane didn't accelerate to a consistent speed. It would be more and more scarying if the failure happened immediately before the V1, the worst after V1. In that case the captain was forced to takeoff, even if the problem was occurring.
i have determined the cause of the problem: mexican maintenance

WOW. There is like nobody on the plane. I have never seen a plane with that many empty seats. Besides that great video. Thumbs Up!!!!

maybe the price of the flight for the company was too much for few people that were inside of the airplaine that they decided to not take off :-)
