  • OMG ONE OF YOUR LEGS IS COMING OFF!?!? THATS NOT GOOD!! YOU SHOULD DEFFINATLY PUT FIX THAT!!! haha

  • Sonor drums?

  • @ShittyMcPoopyBalls mapex saturn

  • dude put ur lug back in my god that can't be good

  • @SuperGilbs It's not bad either. Couldn't even tell when it was out. I spent a good while playing the kick that day, just jiggled loose

  • are these better than axis longboards?

  • @lucci97 I like these better, but I'm a shortboard guy.

  • @rushequalslove alright haha, cuz im actually hopin to get these like next week haha

  • ey bro help me out to setup this pedal, i bought it the last week

  • @ogbribi I play with floppy loose spring tension, and all the settings on " light" in shortboard mode

  • i need a pair of shoes like that lol. I cant use shoes when i heal toe on my dw5000...

looking to get a demon drive myself. Nice vid :).

  • BEST KICKERS IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!! well in my opinion any way =D

  • Get a haircut, ya hippie!!!!!

  • Wouldn't it be easier to play heel-toe with the longboards?

  • @ThomasMetal75 Not at al. Not for me, anyway. Heel toe is just the motion, not actually hitting your heel on the donwstroke, so it doesnt matter how short the board is

  • @rushequalslove My Demon Drives are coming by UPS on 12/1, so when I finally get those pedals on my kit and try the longboard configuration, I'll let you know how easy I personally thought the heal-toe method was.

  • it almost seems too smooth

  • @kickinitonthetube how so?

  • @rushequalslove well its probably just you're playing, but it seems very effortless

  • @kickinitonthetube Oh! Thanks I thought you meant it in a bad way, like that was a negative

  • Do you like this pedal? I'm a metal drummer and need one pedal that is fast

  • @LedSandman I love it. Doesn't mean you will though! What pedal you rockin now?

  • @rushequalslove Now i'm using a soho pedal (its ok)

  • @LedSandman Trick Dominators mate, thats what you want :)

  • it is interesting watching that the tension nut to the left of the pedal on your bass is almost all the way loose.

  • @ricohorton @ricohorton Hey Rico! interesting comment if thats the only thing you liked abut the video :( anyway saw it coming off, I mention it in the beginning of the video.

  • @rushequalslove

nah man i liked it. single pedal is fun. makes you be more creative and not just focused on speedy burst and such. i like how you have learned to slide down and up the board keep up the good single pedal work.

  • it sticks to his foot the whole time lol and he said he had loose to medium spring tension

  • I wish I had curly hair.

  • glad you liked the video! :p

  • @rushequalslove oh I never said I like the video.

I actually hated the video...it's the worst video I've ever seen in my life.

jk. Is this pedal really worth it? I use a single kick myself..double kick is way overrated. I'm a big fan of Zach Hill.

  • lololol. Worht it? depends what you have now and what you want out of a pedal. For me, my pedal is my favorite part of my kit. What pedal you running now? And double pedals arent overrated... they just arent my style. I would love to use one in a creative way, and I probably will again someday. All the work I put into my right foot then id haveta put into my left foot :P im too lazy!

  • oh an di just watched your video "A spark!" AWESOME stuff man, really cool i dig it!

  • @ericmsandoval Double KICK is overrated because why? You cant play it? Solid argument.

  • @EpicMmuffins lol. I played a double kick for over 3 years with my old band wayy back in 2005. Then I started studying more drummers like Zach Hill and Thomas Pridgen. I realized that these drummers sounded great withOUT the use of a double kick. In fact they were so good it almost sounds like they WERE using a double. But yeah I mean seriously...now a days it's just used for blast beats and nothing else. No creativity. Look at Joey Jordison.

  • @ericmsandoval Look at Benny Greb and tell me it sjust used for blats beats ;) Stuff like the stuff he plays makes me sometime wish I had the double, to use the way he does.

  • @rushequalslove True dat. There are some good double bass drummers out there. Gabe Serbian from the Locust uses a lot of creativity in his double kick. I think it's more about creativity/diversity as opposed to straight foward 16th notes.

  • @ericmsandoval FUck joey jordinson. Look at george kollias.

  • @ericmsandoval Look up Travis Orbin, pal.

  • @jesusdrummer4913 lol..already know who that is. That guy is nutssss

  • @EpicMmuffins LOL I just went to your page and the first vid I see is a guy doing straighforward blast beats. hahahaha point proved.

  • very nice!

  • ty!

  • drum shoes ;D

  • im not a fan of direct drive :(. personally i like the older eliminators. im still a dw man, dw 9000s! i feel like the demon drives r far too light. its good to see that you got it down though. pretty good heel toe man! idk if i could get used to it though =/

  • lmao me either my foot just says fuck u lol. I just think its cool for the types of grooves you were playing with it. Like if your going for death metal speed I dont think it that great and sounds like crap once you start trying to fly. I wanna try these pedals really bad tho im jealous.

  • @jjdrummer108 have u ever played one? You can set them up to feel heavy. And the pedals are designed to be fast so you must not play metal. Anyway these pedals are elite :D

  • @jjdrummer108 oh ya and the dw 9000's are awesome too ;D

  • ur REALLY good @ heal-toe!

  • thanks man, hands down my favorite technique to use on the drumset.

  • @rushequalslove yea i would use it if i was good at it haha

  • whats your technique of choice ?Heel up?

  • I lke how you use the heel toe a lot of people dont know how to use it like this.

  • thanks man!

  • yea i do heel up and im startin to practice heel-toe

  • does your demon drive have free play in the foot board?

because i borrowed a demon drive at a studio and when i pushed the footboard back and forth SIDEWAYS, it had a pretty big free play.

im planning to buy these pedals but i dont wanna pay $450(in my country) and get a pair of wobbly pedals

  • at the direct drive connection? spherical bearing, it's intentional

  • no its not the DDconnection or the spherical bearings. those had no free play at all

the one i tried had free play in the connection of the footboard.

can you try shaking the footboard sideways to see if theres any free play in your demon drive and let me know?

  • you mean the hinge? no, but my old elims had some. I never had a problem with it. This pedal plays like a dream, even if it had some, I wouldn't care.

  • nice to see someone using it for single kick...

  • thanks man, thanks!

  • omfg that drum and bass part was completely amazing!!

  • thanks man! If you tell me the exact time I can transcribe the pattern for you if you want

  • it started at 1:30, and went on for 30 secs or so. Thanks, but no need man ;) i think i can get it by ear

  • alright brother. Thanks for the comment

  • goddamn guitar center!!!!!!!!!!!!! $600

  • im into fast double bass shit but this shows me how awesome one pedal can still sound, awesome playing man!

  • thanks!

  • your pedal is so awesome dude

  • amazing heel toe man!and you play on a shortboard pedal?wow!well,i am a guitarist and i play drums for fun ocassionaly, and i don't know how to play heel toe on my drummer's short board.(my foot is big, doesn't fit, lol).you think if i had a long board it would be easier for me?

  • Could be. It doesnt matter how big your foot is, or how big the board is. When you first learn ther motion, its HEEL, TOE. Once you get it DOWN though, that just describes the motion of it, and you can do it hanging all the way back off of the footboard. There's some videos of guys doing it in boots and stuff. Look up Tim Waterson

  • I really want one of these. The one that I have right now keeps on hitting me in the foot.

  • omg dude you can drum fucking good :D

  • thanksman!

  • I think im gonna sell my double to buy a single one of these

  • lol just save up the extra cash and get the double or christmas is right around the corner.. lol its the only thing on my list

  • they look great. are they worth the extra if i was to sell my old elims????

  • yep. definatively.

  • just like pizza

  • Damn, I watched a lot reviews of this pedal, it looks pretty brutal, powerful! Tell me what you think about it, is it worth to buy that pedal, and how much costs double pedal!? Thanks man

  • I love it. I thought it was worth the buy. The double is around $700

  • i read some bad reviews about this pedal

it said you need to work hard to get power

does it have enough power like other chain drive pedals like P2000 Eliminator pedals?

  • couldn't be farther from the truth. This has more power than my old Elims, and more power than all the other pedals I've tried, with the exception of Iron Cobras. I'd say they are about even power wise, but I dont like the feel of cobras personally.

  • cost?

  • $269?

But seriously, $269. Sold my old pedals for 200, so it cost me $70 to upgrade. I'm glad I'm back with a single.

  • I was referring to the direct drive "chain" bit, looked like it was on the video as the drum head reflection distorts a bit but fair enough, we'll neither of us lose sleep. thanks.

  • ahh. No it is just shy of the head, not touching. Thanks though!

  • Haha what drive shaft? That's on a double. This is a single. If you are referring to any other part of the pedal, no, it isn't.

  • Is the drice shaft rubbing on the drum head? you might want to watch that for wear.

  • Im getting these for double kick soon, but man your fucking sick at single kick.. you made me wanna practice single kick more.. ahaha. 5*

  • thanks man

  • This pedal is Great. Its my first longboard so im still learnin to heel toe faster. but i have to play barefoot(so i probably lose a little speed) cause with my shoes on my foot's too big(size 15 USA) for the pedal board. while barefoot i can do quads and quintuplets just as fast with my old pdp double

  • Yes I tried to play on old eliminators a couple of times, but this direct drive is just insane.Personally I dont think there is much difference between axis and demon drive,or trick pedal, its all very close. But nevertheless, great foot technique!

  • I agree, with the exception of the trick, just because of the compression spring. Supposed to have a very different feel.

  • Very very nice!Im an axis fan, have the A ones, lovem the,but I assume these are some very twisted pedals.Or you are the next Virgil Donati. How do they feel to the foot in comparison with your previous pedal, did it take time to,you know, get into the pedal?

  • hey thanks! Umm. my foot technique was really solid before this pedal on my old elims, not going to lie. But I needed new pedals. I find these way more powerful, I find my heel toe strokes to be a little more even, and this pedal is WAY easy to do flutter kicks on. I also like how sturdy they are because my old elims were on their way out

  • wow you are really good. how long have you been playing? and do u take lessons?

  • hey thanks! Got a drum set in like second grade, got frustrated and quit after about a month. Picked up drum set again late freshman year in high school. Going into my sophomore year of college now, so 5 yearsish? And no, Ive never had any lessons.

  • o sweet. i cant believe you have never had any lessons! i have been playing for 4 years now and have had a 30 min lesson once a week during school ever since i started. and my worst part is my foot technique. im into hard rock/ metal playing and i just cant get the double bass good. but yea your foot technique is great. i heard about the heal toe technique from chris adlers vid. i will give it a go though. and do you perfer this or the axis pedals?

  • personally not a big axis fan, but ive only tried a lefty double at GC.

  • i dont understand why the didnt make it look like the old eliminators. the old ones look much better tbh.

  • Matter of opinion. Its a new pedal, so it has a new look. It will grow on everyone in time. Doesnt effect how it plays. Actually, the footboard design helps as opposed to the old eliminator design. It has a very different feel to it.

  • but if you had the eliminator hi hat stand. wouldnt it look odd?

    just saying

  • Ive never had my pedals match, but I DO like how it looks when they do match. No matter: the Demon Drive hi hat stand is in the making as we speak. That's from a Pearl rep on PDF

  • your awsome.

  • thanks!

  • the ultimate pedal, isn't it? want it so bad!

  • it is quite nice, yes, What pedal are you currently running?

  • some shitty old tamas^^ time to buy some new... and then i heard about the demons... :)

  • Do you use the Jared Falk version of heel-toe?

(not sure if he was the first one to do it that way but its the way i learned)

  • I'm sure he wasn't the first one to do it. I learned it from a Derrick Pope video, but my technique specifically came from self discovery. Play with it!

  • Yeah i've already been doing it for a week and i'm getting good at it.. i bought a used kit to start out with and it came with a double pedal and i didnt want to be totally reliant on the double

  • hmm shoulda got yourself the double pedal. imagine the possibilities. i made a vid with them.

  • might pick up the double someday, not sure yet. I defff dont use it ALOT, but there's sometimes that I wish I had the double when im plying.

  • Have u tried switching it to longboard at all? I'm just curious as to your take on it.

  • Briefly, im a shortboard guy, better for my heel toe.

  • Great Video , im hoping to get a Demon Drive Double Pedal soon but i gotta scrape up the cash

  • that looks so hot!!!!

  • how u do those quick doubleS?

  • I use heel toe almost primarily.

  • ok, cuz those look smooth

  • They are smooth, yes.

  • I really want to try one of these now.

  • thank you man. im heading down to jims music to demo one of these myself!

  • Pretty smooth technique you got there!

    Cheers!

  • Is this on the "Finesse" setting (beater stroke)?

  • Also, is the direct link on light or heavy?

  • Light and finesse. :)

  • what bassdrum??

  • Mapex Saturn.

  • ok man but one of your tuning screw is loose :P you can see it in the video

  • I addressed that in the video... everyone seems to listen on mute?!>

  • God lord, you call this a "simple groove"?

Haha, nice playin mate. Yeeboy000 from the pearl drummers forum.

  • Lol thanks man!

  • how much does one of these pedals cost i really like it

  • Too much :P

  • Really nice video, by the way. It's better than some of the more official Pearl demonstrations!

  • Thanks! Yeah, the demos of how it works are important, but after all, it's its playing that matters!

  • I lost my single foot skill when i got a double pedal, even though the double unlocked so many doors...but damn...I need the Demon drive dude...haha

  • I'm actually diggin the fact that I could only afford the single. Gives me more time to work on my single pedal technique which still needs much improvement

  • yeah...I know how that goes...I have the old Eliminators with the strap drive...Kinda pissed that I lost my cams though...

  • that sucks

  • what, because it isn't double bass blasting at 250 bpm? I don't go to your videos with a double telling you it sucks.

    Assuming that's what you meant?^

  • nooo haha dont missunderstand me i think its really amazing how u can do that with one pedal

what i meant was that it sucks tha riomarucci lost his eliminator cams:)

  • OH! then i take all of that back! :D sorry dude!

  • no problem man

  • nice technique dude, you know, I currently own an iron cobra power glide.

I know there's a lefty version for this pedal (If I get one of these I'll get the double version) but I can't decide on what to do. These pedals look weak, don't get me wrong I like them but I don't get that ''heavy duty'' impression that Tama hardware has. I may be wrong, what about the case? is there a hard case included with the double pedal as well?

  • "Soft" case, like for the old Eliminators. It is no bag or anything though it is QUITE heavy duty and serves its purpose even better than a hard case for my uses. This is a very very well made pedal and certainly is not weak in any stretch of the imagination, in play or durability. That being said, if you like your cobra, why change? If it aint broke, don't fixit! :)

  • I like my Iron Cobra (it was my first double pedal) but I have a Pearl drumset and at the time I was going to purchase the P2002CL but the pedal never made it to retailers as there are not too many lefty drummers out there. So I went for the lefty Iron Cobra, which is a great pedal, but sometimes it's too heavy. I would need the same power but with a lighter feel. Besides I've never tried out a direct drive pedal. Anyway, now you convinced me, I'll probably go for it if I get the lefty model.

  • nice pumas lol

  • Thanks! Really love them to play inn. They are made to be put on pedals after all!

  • What kind of Pumas are they?

  • Would you say since purchasing the DD, you foot technique and abilty has been enhanced greatly?

  • Greatly? No. I was quite able with my old Eliminator, but there are many advantages to this pedal. Since I'm primarily heel-toe, I like this pedal because the second stroke is much more powerful than it was on the old Elim. Now my two heel toe strokes are damn near perfectly even. I find flutter kick easier on this pedal than the old one so now I use that a bit as well. What I could pull off on my old pedal, I can now did with EASE on this pedal, that is one of the major advantages.

  • I don't need to work as hard to get the same strokes that I used to really have to pull out on my old Elim. This leads to less fatigue, longer endurance, and it presents me with the opportunity to push myself farther than before, like single foot quads.

Any one who wants to buy this pedal to make them blaze when they couldn't before is an idiot. It helps you unlock your potential yes, but it is your foot using it after all

  • well put dude

I hate when people think "I wanna be faster so I need a ridiculously expensive pedal and I'll magically be faster!"

    pedals aren't fast. feet are.

my double bass skills far exceed one of my friends and he uses DW9000s

what do I use? crap ass pearl P122TWs

    :]

  • sweet!! Nice video.

  • thanks man
